It will be a scorcher at Augustana tonight.

I hope the game & the weather can both be called scorchers.  Go get'em UD, I'm proud to be a Spartan for a day. (What are the chances that UD assistants, Kyte and Olsen, remembered to bring me a cap?)

Mrs. Warthog can't understand why I would choose to sit out in 100* heat and watch a game to which I have little or no connection.  It doesn't register that I would like to watch the Augie qb who has broken most of Ken Anderson's records or the UD receiver who is hailed by many to be the nation's top pass catcher.  That said, you can see I will be flying solo tonight.  My co-pilot will be on board for Friday night's high school game and Saturday's Wartburg/Monmouth tilt.

Best of luck to the Spartans.  Stay hydrated and stay healthy.

Best of luck to Dubuque as well!

In looking through the game publication from St. Olaf for this Saturday's game with the Norse, it looks like both teams have very similar roster sizes and similar amounts of freshmen on the roster.

Both teams have good QBs who played well in the game last year.

The Oles have Leon Clark (2,232 career yards) at RB again this year.  The Norse are hoping that the run game in general is much better for them this year.  Mistakes and who can run the ball well to open everything up will once again show who will win.  The Norse haven't run it well from the tailback spot since 2007.

I want to see a Norse team that really gets after it in the trenches on Saturday!

Any talk about how much better Simpson is looking this year?  I see they get the Oles on the 17th.

If I may offer a word of Prayer over this 2011 season....

Dear Lord,

Please lay your blanket of protection over this 2011 season. Keep the injuries few and minor. Watch over the health of all the players from the all teams. Show your Blessings in their sportsmanship, in their play and in their abilities to enjoy your gift of athletics out on the field. Please watch over everyone else during the games...The coaches, trainers, the students, refs and fans. Let them enjoy the game as You would want. If you would, please watch over the weather and keep everyone safe. Watch over everyone's travels to and from the games.
Most of all...we give you Thanks Lord for all that You have done!

I ask this in Jesus Name. Amen

Don't you just love student run programing ;D

It's easier to listen to the broadcast with my team winning 18-0 at half :P

I now am watching the Auggie video, while listening to the UD broadcast.

UD wins, UD wins, UD wins

Final score 18-13 to the Spartans.

Last year Dubuque dominated their 1st game and lost right at the end.  This year UD finds a way to hold on for the victory.  Hopefully UD wins all the close games this year that they found ways to lose last year.

Opening day victory overa decent Auggie team is a great win.  Central gets Auggie in Pella next weekend.

Great win for UD congrats Spartans way to make the IIAC proud.

Wow!  Two years in a row UDubuque has the IIAC 1000% against non-con opponents before the start of the Labor Day Weekend!  Cool that they missed all of those extra points just to keep the game interesting.  I will hope that, even though Central will be breaking in a new kicker, they make theirs.
