Loras looked solid yesterday. Not much else to say. UD is finding a hole to hide in.

Obvious to me that the Knights of the Castle Wartburg are the stand alone team in the IIAC.  Doesn't look like anyone can touch them with Dutch and Coe going down.  Stan W stands in the wings with a surprise victory but those Men in Black will prevail.  If Wartburg does not go 10-0 and 3 into the playoffs this year it is time to roll up the artificial turf.

But....perhaps those lowly Rams will snip them..........NAAAAAAAAAAA!

Wartburg 10-0.plus 3.  Anybody to challenge that?

I am fearful of the upcoming contest between my beloved Spartans and those pesky Duhawks.  Loras has played a substantial pre-conference schedule and has shown talent, athletic ability, an imaginative offense and a stubborn defense.  What is the Spartan nation to do?

Correction.....Stan Z, not W.
But it looks like there are no challengers to the Wartburg as IIAC CHAMPIONS !!!!   Great!  Did you all give up already.......one game into the season?   GO Orange!!

Greetings from Oregon to my Iowa friends! I'm late getting on the board this year, as Linfield had our first game just yesterday. We're a little slower out here in the uncivilized part of the west.
I see the Warts are on the top of the heap, but who lit a fire under Cornell? Geez.
And where's Dutchie? In the last few pages, I see Warty, doolittle and most of the other regulars, but no Dutchie.

Two words:  THE STREAK

I'll bite.

Central lost a tough game (on the road I believe) to a quality UWO squad, whose qb is getting high praise from the Mount faithful. And they don't just hand that out. I don't know what to think about Coe right now  ???

Wartburg is 2-0. But they barely beat a very middle of the road MIAC team at home. I'm actually more impressed with Central's close loss to UWO than Wartburg's narrow victory.

There's a lot of football left to play. And I'm not going to even touch them going 3 deep in the playoffs. UWW, Linfield, UST, Bethel, Redlands/Cal Lutheran and some we might not even have on our radar will no doubt have something to say about this.

But it's definitely nicer to be 2-0 than 1-1 if they don't end up undefeated in the IIAC.

Here I am....long time reader, first time poster.... (wait, that isn't right....)  :)

Truth be told, I recently started a new job, and have been crazy busy - get this - actually working! Weird, huh? How's Linfield going to do this season? I need to get out there to see another game....

With the results we saw in week 2 vs week 1 I think it is still too early to tell what is likely to play out this season.

One would think Coe will turn things around...or perhaps Coe is looking at a repeat of 2008.

Central and Wartburg I would guess will be their normal selves...but I don't know.

Dubuque...I wear royal blue glasses...I'm optimistic but I am not holding my breath just yet.

Luther, probably a decent team but if they start off 0-3 they might nose dive

Simpson...a very different team in week 2 compared to week 1

Loras...middle of the road most likely...pretender

BVU...I'm beginning to think they are a rear ender...but I thought that about Simpson after week 1 and the Storms performance in week 2 has me reconsidering that.

Cornell...we are used to just pencilling the Rams into the 9th spot.  We've seen them open up 2-0 in the past...but I think they have a few more wins in them...perhaps right on the line between rear ender and pretender.

Just so people here understand, Phred is not a Wartburg fan.  In looking back through his posts it is hard to tell where he lines up.

Give Coach B some credit for early success in rebuilding the Cornell program.  I don't know the last time when the Rams were 2-0.  But keep in mind ... the combined record of Cornell's opposition thus far 0-4 ... and the Rams have given up 49 points in their first two games.  They  get a bye this week and their next game will be BV in Storm Lake.  That should tell us something.

I think Coach B deserves a lot of credit. I'm a realist. I don't expect Cornell to go 10-0. Do I expect them to compete a lot more than they have in recent years? Yes. They will win more than the 2 games they've already won.

I was scratching my head on this one?  :o

I have to admit that I've been backing more IIAC teams since I came on here,
but I don't think you'll catch me putting out a....Go Orange!  ???
