Tonight is one of those times you feel like you have been kicked in the belly and once again realize that who wins or loses football games is not really all that important.

It has become public knowledge that one of the young men on our local undefeated high school team has been diagnosed with cancer.  His last game was Friday night.  Next week he starts his first round of chemo.  We are told there are reasons to be optomistic concerning his long term health.  For that his family and teammates can be thankful.  Yet it seems a seventeen year old high school kid should be worried about battling an opposing offensive lineman rather than battling cancer.

Please offer up a prayer for Justis.

Decisions - decisions - decisions,  I'm leaving this one up to the posters on the board.

Today was like Christmas.  I received a package postmarked from Dubuque.  The box contained a UD royal blue cap with the word TEAM embossed across the front.  Grandma Warthog is looking down from heaven and smiling broadly.  One of her kids actually owns some Spartan gear!

So what do I do?  Should I wear the cap to the Wartburg/BV game this Saturday or should I save the newness for the UD/Wartburg game on October 8th?

You make the call.

Awesome...I think you should wear the hat to work today as well!!!

Our prayers are with Justis.

My wife was diagnosed with cancer the summer before her senior year of high school.  She is now 36.  Cancer is a scary word, but it can be beat.  My wife, and others on this board have beaten it.  Tell Justis to stay strong and have a good spirit!!!

I dusted off the "fan base" listing from last year.  It needs some up-dating I think.  I'll give it a few weeks to see who has disappeared from our midst ... and who needs to be added ... like Phred or Idaho Soccer.  With a couple of exceptions, everyone on the list is a quality person ... right?

Still hangin around, just been busy with work. It's funny how the priorities change once the kids are grown and almost out of the nest.

Also still hanging around....maybe since the Rams are 2-0 I will start posting again  :D

Good luck to everyone this weekend and hopefully everyone stays healthy.

I will be in China (yes, that "on the other side of the world China") the next two Saturdays, so the Spartans will have to get on without me.  I would love to come back to a 4-0, 2-0 UD team.  I will have my "notebook" with me and hope to follow D3football and IIAC fortunes on the internet ... as well as get in my Pick-Ems for September 24 after I've seen this coming weekend's outcomes.  Believe it or not, the Grand Rapids contingent on this tour has 5 UD alums in the group, so I will have my UD Spartan windbreaker and cap with me ... and we should have a once-in-a-lifetime photo-op with 5 UD alums standing on The Great Wall.

GO SPARTANS!  BEAT LORAS!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Willie University

Warthog....my prayers are with Justis and his family. No words can express what he and his family are dealing with right now. I am sure he is a strong willed young man that will fight it with all he's got..

As for the hat....there is never a bad time to wear a Spartan hat!  8-)

For the big game vs Lorass this weekend.....tailgating with some friends before the game at a park so the kids can play on the equipment......my, how times have changed ;D

In all seriousness, 1965, you might have some trouble. If you can't get into the message board, find out your IP address at whatsmyip.net and email it to me. Because of the hacking, spamming and phishing expeditions aimed at us from that part of the world, we've locked down a good part of Asia from getting onto the board.

I love it.  We'll be at Chuck E Cheese celebrating our sons birthday.  Times do change.  We'll get home just in time to get the game on the computer AND on KCRG 9.2  Looking forward to a great game.
