And for the record I have said many times that the only way I believe the IIAC gets two bids is one team is 10-0 and the second is 9-1.

I find it strange that two 9-1 teams get in from the MWC.

Sour grapes, probably.  >:(

I agree, I don't think a 2 loss team from IIAC will ever get in.  The MWC thing is more to do with the second place MIAC being 8-2 ties (Oles and Bethel) and the second place WIAC having three loses (Osh Kosh, played both Mount and UWW!).  I'd be pretty sure all of those team are better than 2nd place MWC, but we'll see.  With second place IIAC being a three way tie at 8-2, 7-3 and 6-4 we just aren't looking that strong.  8-10 non-con record doesn't help OWP either, but that seems to be about where we always end up.  Go Spartans.

I try to be a man of the 21st century and avoid becoming a dinosaur, so you guys need to wise me up about something.  I was doing my pre-game scouting and noticed that loathsome Simpson has a ".com" athletic site.  That made me curious so I checked and it looks like so does Cornell, Coe and Loras.  All of the other IIAC schools have their athletic section as part of their ".edu" site except Wartburg which is ".net."  What's the difference and should I now add web site envy to my list of psychoses?

I saw this over on the CCIW page ... obviously a very confident North Central fan.

As you can tell from his lack of posts and negative karma, Spencer is more of a troll than a regular over on the CCIW boards.  Please don't take his opinion as an accurate representation of NCC fans.

A late congrats to the Spartans!  Despite no longer being in the IIAC, I will remain a fan and supporter of the league.  It's hard not to after playing and coaching in it.  With that said, I'm crossing my fingers that Dubuque can win a couple games, not only to represent the IIAC, but give me a chance to go watch them play Mighty Mount Union.  Being only a 2 hour drive to Alliance, it would be exciting to see an Iowa Conference team cross paths with MU.  I'm not a history buff, but has an IIAC team faced off against Mount in recent times?

My question to everyone here is...Dubuque obviously has an explosive offense and can and will put up points.  They have consistently proven that.  Do they have the defense to be able to make a run in the post season?  I don't have support to say they do or don't, other than seeing their scores each week.

I did see the Wartburg/Luther game today, looking across the field to see a sea of blue in the Norse stands.  A great day for football.........not like 2 years ago when the field was a sea of mud.

But....I was greatly disappointed in the play of the Knights.  Only game I have seen them play and the Norse, in spite of losing were the better team today.  Perhaps the loss of coaching staff is at the root but Willis has to do something to get the Knights on track for next year.  Should have been champs but limped even though they were 8-2.  Alumni expect more.

Congrats to Wartburg, again!  It really isn't a rivalry in football and wrestling until the Norse actually beat the Knights again.  In football it has been all Wartburg since 2005, in wrestling it has been way too long even though the Norse Wrestling program has been really good at times.  I do like having this game at the end of the year.

Is the Coe-Cornell series going to continue next year in football?  I am sure I missed the discussion on this.  I know the Rams may be leaving the IIAC because of football, but the real problem (besides Cornell themselves) may have been Coe as it has to be hard to recruit locally when you rival is having success and kicking your rear.

Actually, perhaps the Norse administration should pay attention to what happened at Cornell as it can't be easy to build the Norse Football program when both Wartburg and St. Olaf beat you almost every year.  I would think Luther and St. Olaf have more in common with Norwegian Luthernan roots, but sometime there are Lutheran kids or Catholic kids who don't care whether Wartburg is German Lutheran or not but just want to play for a good football team.

Good luck to Dubuque in the playoffs.

Against Wartburg, UD gave up the "big play" one too many times.   They also gave up a lot of points against Coe.  NCC is averaging 44 points per game (same as UD), so I expect to see lots offense on Saturday ... the question is whose defense will prevail?

Also another possible factor that I was unaware of until today (shame on me, considering I'm a former NCC bball player): NCC's Tip-Off Tourney is also Saturday, with Men's and Women's bball games going on. I wouldn't anticipate there being parking issues to deal with if you're there prior to the football game, but I'm not exactly sure what time it all starts. Lots of activity down in the athletic complex for sure.

Yet another factor. The NCAA takes over the parking area behind Merner Fieldhouse. That disrupts about 80 spots that are normally used by the NCC QB Club members. Plan to arrive very early if you want to park in the lot off Highland.

Yes they are scheduled to play the next two years the second game of the season. To my knowledge the schools are going to do everything they can to make sure the series continues. Regardless of the status of that rivalry right now, it would be a shame to see it die off. There have been other long winning streaks in the rivalry. I might be wrong but I think last year Coe broke the longest winning streak in the series. I believe Cornell had it with 9 years in a row prior to the one Coe has right now. I remember someone looking this up a few years back but don't remember all the details so I might be totally wrong!  :o

I suspect that Dubuque tailgaters will be directed to the upper level of the parking deck at Brainard St. & Highland Ave.  That's where the Carthage faithful set up every two years.

Naperville Community Television is currently listing the game on their broadcast schedule, so fans who can't make the trip should be able to see the game at http://www.nctv17.com
The area for tailgating that is mentioned above can be found at the following campus map just above building 37 (Res/Rec Center) and the NCC faithful tailgate just above building 38 (Merner Fieldhouse). http://finearts.northcentralcollege.edu/x45120.xml Just above the stadium is the (free parking) city of Naperville parking garage just across Chicago Avenue which if you follow the arrow to downtown there are several bars in the next block and one just across the street from the garage (Bar Louie). The only issue is they do not open usually until 11:00 AM.

Thank you, to all the NCC fans that have come on here with parking and other tips.  It is appreciated.  This is helping towards convincing my wife this trip might be possible.

To both of you - I hope you can make it. We love to have guest in Naperville and I think Pat Coleman is correct from the Podcast that this might be one of the great games of Saturday. If you do decide to come we wish you a safe trip and an exciting game for all.

Before I forget ... SPECIAL THANKS :) to mrs. doolittle for taking care of the IIAC Pick 'Ems this season.  With all she has to do taking care of the kiddies (her's and other's) and doolittledog on top of it ... she made it possible for all us IIAC fans to get after each other all season long.  She gets my vote for Pick 'Em Manager of the Year!

Where did the Franklin fans gather in 2008?  I wasn't able to attend that game, but I assume there was a large contingent of Franklin tailgaters.
