A melee at a bar located near a college?!?!  No way ;D

So, warthog is upset he missed out on the melee?  Or that he missed hanging out with FBD and NKD?

College kids started the melee...FBD ended it 8-)

I was interested as to whether they actually had a melee or if it was just a couple drunks doing some shoulder pushing and grab ass.
After taking the family out to dinner I was a little strapped for cash.  I assume FBD & NKD would have spotted me the funds for a night of drinking and debauchery.

I would think that Saturday night earned someone a one-way ticket back home. The wife had a front row seat for the parking lot action and said it wasn't pretty. A couple of people probably should have sought some medical attention, but in true Knight fashion just went back inside and continued socializing.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

The good news is there was only one reported filing in the Bremer County Courts for assulting a police officer last weekend.  The name didn't match anyone on an athletic roster as posted on the web-site.

After all the excitement of last week, this sad news arrives.  Once again athletic success is put in a less important perspective.

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A member of the Wartburg coaching staff has confirmed that former wrestler Aaron Wernimont has died.

Coach Eric Keller received a call around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning confirming that Wernimont died in Indiana. Keller says Wernimont woke up and was gasping for air. Wernimont's wife Kahri, also a former Wartburg athlete, called 911. He died on the way to the hospital.

During his time wrestling at Wartburg, Wernimont won two individual national titles and helped lead the team to two consecutive Division III NCAA titles.

Wernimont was from Pocahontas.

My son called last night with the sad news. Besides being a fine athlete, Aaron was very good student and was well known for his positive attitude. He deliverd the speech on his graduation.
A fine young man who did much in his short time.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Mr Wernimont sounded like the definition of "all-american kid"  A gifted athelete and student, married to his college girlfriend and was in grad school and training for a marathon.  Everyone described his positive attitude towards life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.  He will truly be missed.

That was fun to put a face to the voice of Luther I have been listening to all these years.  Coach Hoffman has a wide ranging resume and speaks well.  Seems like a pretty good hire.  6 years al Loras though...yikes :-\

While he was at Loras the Duhawks were a dazzling 22-38 over all with a 18-30 conference record.

Well, he has experiance at the D3 level and in the IIAC, understands D3 recruiting, speaks well.  Probably not too much of a stretch to say he is a better hire as an OC than a 24 year old kid that was a GA the previous year at a UMAC school ;)

And you know, he was severely handicapped at Loras...there was no way they could bring in good kids when those kids could see there was a much better school just 10 blocks south of Loras...what's that schools name again...oh yeah, UD ;D

This is sad.  Condolences to his family and wife as well as all the Knight family.  Any word on cause of death?  Warthog what year was he at Wartburg.  Just wondering about his knowing my son or if he was older or younger.  I will pass this along to Matt.

Well that is why the head coach really gets the record behind his name.  He didn't have a lousy line.  He may be a better coach than that record represents as the HC makes decisions beyond the line coaches control.  Time will tell.

Doolittle,

Age isn't always a factor.  A coach can be advanced past his age due to the supervision and support of coaches around him.  I think the pedigree may help with the age thing.  Or it could be a case that the young coach was the best applicant.  Never know.  Time will tell.
