Any of you Wartburg faithful heard anything about Bauder?  Was it a foot or an ankle, and how bad is it?  Will we be seeing Yordi from here on out?

Walston Hoover

Not sure, but Yordi has played very well the last 2 games.
Dutchfan1-I may have to join you guys sometime. What do you want to do for a tiebreaker-I vote for total number of completed passes by IIAC schools on Saturday. Whoever is closest wins. (assuming we tie)

Sure, I'm game -- although, are we playing the pick 'em during the post season, too; or does it stop with the regular season? I'll email you the next time I go out for beer with my Orange Clad Co-worker.

Walston,

If i remember right, didn't Loras recover a fumble at the Wartburg 1/2 yard line???  Then ended up botching the field goal??  Football is a game of momentum, Loras had the momentum up until that point, they had stopped the Knights the whole first off, only to come out the second half and give up a ten minute drive from what the stats show.

Loras looks to be a 'one half' team.  They play one solid half of football and thats it.  I would put them up near the tops of the conference if they decided to show up for four quarters (Coe).  Just my two cents ........ ::)

Dsquared

I wouldn't put Loras up against any team in the conference BECAUSE they haven't put together a full 4 quarters.  And from where I was sitting, it wasn't a botched field goal so much as they really tried for a fake field goal... snap looked dang good to me!

You can't judge a team based on the good parts of their game.  Maybe they really ARE only capable of playing one solid half of football.  It takes a great team to overcome mistakes and play well enough over the course of 4 quarters to win games.  As far as I'm concerned, the IIAC only has 2 of those schools this year.  Coe wasted the gift the schedule-makers gave them by losing 3 home games.  I don't care if they were 8 points from being undefeated... imagine how badly they might've gotten beaten had those been 3 road games.  I won't speculate, though, because it didn't happen.  They lost 3 home games, Loras lost their heads after being shut out from the 1/2 yard line with 50 seconds left in the half, and Central and WB could've lost a few of the close ones... but they didn't.

Congrats to Central on yet another IIAC championship... congrats to the Knights on another great season... and good luck to the Storm this weekend (hey... a shared conference championship is better than a 2nd place finish any day!)

No matter how the field goal ended up, For Wartburg to hold Loras on 3 plays from the 1/2 yard line, that was the real momentum builder. Lot of woulda/coulda/shoulda, fact of the matter is, Loras had probably -30 yards rushing or less (more, I don't know the proper grammar when we start talking negatives?)
Loras didn't stop Wartburg in the first half any more than Wartburg stopped Loras.
I like DD's points. I think you could look back every year, and lots of teams would like to have a couple quarters back. Fact of the matter is the good teams don't have that happen.
Putting 4 quarters together is every bit a part of a team's identity as say "running the football" or scoring points.

Still in Florida, TT?? What makes you think that I owe JR a sacraficial offering of any kind? From the sounds of things, he makes quite a bit of cash every weekend in his "donation" cup....he doesn't need my contribution. My presence and a Dutch victory will surely be enough. :)

DF1 you need to work on your self esteem.  I don't think you have enough self confidence.   ;D

Walston, you keep throwing the rushing stats out there from the Loras/Wartburg game like that means something in the outcome. If you look at the stat line from the Montezuma/A-P 1st round game you'll like the big goose egg Montezuma puts up in the passing department. However, the outcome was in wasn't A-P's favor.

Botched snap, it wasn't a call for the record. Loras hasn't hardly played four full quarters against anyone, so they don't deserve to be mentioned with Central/Wartburg.

Dsquared

I don't consider it a botched snap when the holder catches the snap, then decides to run around with the ball.  If it wasn't a called play, then why were Loras guys going out in patterns and at least 3 WB defenders went untouched?

I'm talking rushing. Good ol' fashion running the football. I would wager to guess there have been a lot more games won that the winning team has 0 passing yards than games won by a team with 0 (or less) rushing yards.

Am I the only one who cares that this is Central and Simpson rivalry week?  Rivals should take some shots at each other in rivalry week.  Maybe someone who actually knows something about Simpson can come up with some relevant rivalry worthy insults.  This is the best I have in the mean time.

Question:  Why is Simpson in Indianola and giant hog factories with multi-acre manure lagoons are other places?  Answer:  Because the other places got to choose first.

I heard  the field goal team called it on their own, like a sandlot game, but most of the players wanted to go out for the pass, leaving few to block.
