Even with those ratings they have...
Dubuque 6-1 with a 1 point loss at Central
Central   6-1 with a 1 point loss at Coe
Coe        6-1 with a 7 point loss at Dubuque
Wartburg 4-3 with a 2 point loss to DBQ, a 2 point loss @ Coe, and a 3 point loss @ Central
Simpson  3-4
Luther    2-5
BVU        1-6
Loras      0-7

If that plays out I don't know how the tie breakers would work.

Rose Bowl rule would give it to the Kohawks I believe.

Actually Rose Bowl Rule would give it to Central...Dubuque went last season, Coe in 2010, Central in 2009

Not sure why so many are all excited about the Massey Ratings.   The Massey Ratings don't mean a thing unless you are talking about them  as it has to do with calculating tractor horse power.  Besides at the end of the season there isn't going to be any stinking three way tie with the Spartans, KoHawks, and Dutch.  They may end up tied for second, because the Knights of Wartburg College  :) will be carrying away the conference championship hardware at the end of the season.

Rumors around Waverly are that some recent roofing jobs have been filled in the area!!   ::)

What school got raided this time.  Please tell me Coe so we can keep it straight.  This way we can keep the evil empire and Coe can cry foul again.   :) :) :) :) :) :) :)  Just kinding Coe fans.

The IIAC isn't getting much love in the Top 25; but the one that counts is at the end of the season.

Footballdaddy you are totally correct.  Even then the top 25 is not a criteria for the selection process.

I was visiting my mom this morning and we realized that with it now being August, it has been 30 years since my family moved to Iowa.  Which got me thinking with fall camp about to start, what did the IIAC look like 30 years ago for those kids about to start practice compared to today.

Aug - '82 Titles - Last      Aug - '12  Titles - Last
Central        -12  '81        Central        - 30   '09
Luther         -11  '78        Wartburg    - 12   '10
Simpson      -  8  '69        Simpson    - 12   '97
Upper Iowa  - 7   '64        Luther       - 11   '78
Dubuque      - 6   '80        Dubuque    -  7   '11
Buena Vista  - 4   '78       Buena Vista -  4   '78
William Penn - 4   '76       Coe            -  3   '05
Wartburg      - 3   '68       Loras          -  0   ---

I wonder who won the title your first year in IA?  ;)

I move to Iowa and a few months later Wartburg wins their 1st football title in 14 years and then over the next 30 years rises from dead last, up to 2nd place for conference titles.  I think there is strong enough evidence there to make the claim that I am the Knights good luck charm.  Which I think would be worth free grub and brews for me and my family at all Wartburg tailgates in perpetuity ;)

So Wartburg wins their 7th title in '99 and their 12th in '10...so by that logic...Dubuque wins their 7th title in '11 which means I should expect our 12th title no later than '23...the 100th anniversary of IIAC football...I would be ok with that  ;D

not knowing a lot about the conference this year I would like to hear thoughts on who will be an impact player this season

Give me your top three:

QB
RB
O-Line
Receiver/TE
LB
DB
D-Line
Special Teams– Returner
Special Teams – Kicker

be sure to list the school and year

if you only have 1 or 2 at a position I'd still love to hear who it is

Don't I wish these old bones were still in my 30's ;)

Next week we are on vacation and then get to help a cousin of mine move into UD over the weekend.  I'm praying for mid 70's temps and cloud cover so I don't have a heart attack or burn my pasty white skin in the process.

Good luck to everyone as camp starts and lets have a great non-con part to our schedules!!!

I think I will start with the more obvious:

QB
1 = Hanus SR Dubuque (1st Team All-Conference)
2 = Nelson JR Simpson (2nd Team All-Conference)
3 = Atwater FR Coe (going out on a limb - but I like what I hear about this kid and as of now not a lot of other QBs getting much attention)
