A little dig at the Spartans-nice.
Charlie on your picture of Clark field there appears to be a foreign substance. Could it, is it, no, it couldn't be........grass? Since when did Coe believe in that?

Picks for the week
Pretty easy week to pick I think
BV
Coe in a laugher
Central in a close on over SImpson
toughest game to pick-Loras over Luther
and Wartburg wins their first round playoff game against UD.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

WH...

You should swing over to IC this weekend.  Almost sounds like a mini-canoe reunion.  A couple of guys from Tripoli and a certain TT are almost locks (one dating a Simpson spiker may not make it).  Friday night will be crazy on the pedmall... but we all understand that you don't have your man parts anymore.  Mini-WH has you wrapped around her little finger, and Mrs. WH has the man parts hidden until she needs them again.

Last word on Mac... I want to see what he'll be able to do with talent, so I hope he ends up somewhere in the southeast or even in the Big 10.  That being said, I hope he doesn't go to Iowa... that'd be too strange... don't pull a Haluska!

D^2 -- Mac was originally a Hawkeye -- born in Iowa City, playing for Iowa, coaching under Hayden....the ISU thing has been a diversion for the guy for the last few years. He bleeds black and gold. ;)

Charlie--

What exactly do you mean by the Dubuque academic comment?

Storm-what?

Well, the powers that be are picking Simpson pretty close to Central this weekend! I am curious about Dutchfan1's score prediction, as she is the resident expert!! Simpson's D has always been tough, last weekend the O came together a bit. Hopefully it will be a real game! I think anyone who things Central will be playing 2nd string is dreaming!!

Going up to the Metrodome this weekend to watch the bro's team. No idea who they play, and to be honest with you I don't care a whole lot (I might hear some flack for that one), but the whole family is going up and it may not be a bad weekend to watch football indoors. Hopefully next week I'm road-tripping to a Knights playoff game. WOuld you be interested in that?

Academics are "other things around campus"? I thought academics were the reason all of our respective institutions -- except for Dubuque -- existed.

What does that mean?

I hate to get too picky here.  But in reading Wartburg's game notes for the Dubuque game they mention their record at home since their new stadium was built.  Can that really be called a new stadium when it sits right where it has always sat???  Yeah, it was grass and now is field turf, and they tore down the bleachers and erected new stands...but it's where it's always been.  In my mind that isn't a new stadium, it's just a renovated stadium.  But what do I know, I just have a Dubuque education!!!

Pat Coleman

Don't know about everyone else, but in my mind that's a new stadium.

I agree with Pat.
Central's stadium is renovated. The ONLY thing that is the same between Walston-Hoover Stadium and the old Shield stadium is the location. WH is twice as big. Everything else is brand-spanken new (at least as of 6 years ago). I think I would even consider Loras's stadium "new" Even though it is still the Rock Bowl. Not much there that is different from before, even still have a .500 football team.
Does this mean the new PEC at Wartburg is not considered new?

I guess under "renovated" in the dictionary we can just put in "see new"  then.

We put an addition on our house and put in new carpeting throughout.  I guess we have a new house.

Ok, now that I think about it more.  Yeah, Central would be considered renovated.  Wartburg really tore everything down and started over.  I would consider that a new stadium.  No so much the Rock Bowl though.  Possible though.

My picks for the week, as the resident expert (thanks, Stormtruper!)

Coe over Cornell
Wartburg over UD
Loras over Luther -- although I would really like to see Luther pull this one out.
BV over the high school team they are playing
Central over Simpson -- in a game that isn't nearly as close as people are predicting. Central has this one locked up by half-time.  ;D Yep, that's what I said, Simpson fans!

If it's called Knight's Gym it's renovated. If WH comes up with $'s for naming rights, it will be NEW.
