I still like Central and Wartburg's chances....but there are some upsets still in the realm of possibility.

Wartburg explodes in 4th quarter.  Knights now up 24-10 with the ball and 6:19 remaining.

BVU beating Central 30-19 in 4th......wow!

Simpson beating Loras 28-7, 6:20 to play.

Welp...guess my upset possibility was the truth. That was an embarrassing game for central...not much else to say. Straighten your $hit out, and figure out a way to salvage a .500 season. No excuse for losing to a team like BV.

(kudos to BV for capitalizing on central mistakes, and just outplaying them when it mattered most.)

Ps, at least central looked good even though they played like poo. The white on white is a kickass look....jus don't wear em on a grass field.

Whale of a ballgame in Dubuque. A genuine slugfest, with Coe delivering the last blow. Oughta be another doozy Saturday in Indianola. Can't wait.

2 straight years I was able to see a great college football game for the UD Homecoming.  2 straight years Dubuque lost a heartbreaker by 3 points.  Yuck.

Dubuque is very very very very very very very very close to being 3-0 in conference play, yet sits at 1-2.  Hopefully the Spartans can still play tough the rest of the season and show they are a better team than what their record shows.

Football facility news we picked up this weekend.  The current UD football/soccer practice field just north of the Oyen soccer field will have the 1st of 3 new dorms break ground this May.  The old Pottersveld apartments just to the north of the practice field will be torn down and an indoor practice facility will be built.  The new dorm will be similar to the 6 apartment style buildings already built on the south side of campus.  Didn't see any renderings of the indoor practice facility.

I'd like to hear from Norsanity regarding Luther football.  It seems Luther has taken the place of Cornell not only in terms of their record but also in terms of playing well in the first half and then falling apart later.  What's up for that team?

Great watching UD/Coe on Dubuque's video cam and verbal broadcast.  Real class.

On the other hand Wartburg needs to improve their telecast and forget the app they require.  Go to Stretchnet like everyone else.!!!@!

Congratulations to BV for taking advantage of every turnover Central gave them and doing what they had to when it counted.  You came to play and the Dutch did not.  For whatever reason, the Dutch were playing with a major case of nerves and it showed.  Why were the Dutch not ready mentally to play?  This should have been a win for th e Dutch, but they turned the ball over 4 times in the red zone, twice in UD's red zone and twice in ours.  And BV scored a TD on every one of those turnovers.  The Dutch have put more pressure on themselves to perform now because of the winning, or non-losing streak.  If this game was any indication, this team may be letting that pressure get to them.  Central comes back on teams and makes games close, but they can't get their heads in the game until they are in the position of playing catch up.  Like UD, we are not losing badly in the conference, but we are not playing 60 minutes of football.

The Dutch need to just go out and play to win.  Don't let the streak put you into playing not to lose, or more of the first qtr fiasco will follow.

One positive from this game, hopefully the saw the coaches saw how much more potent the offense is with eisler at the helm and Boerm at WR.

I've long said, no one does more with less than Coe.

All about perspective...

I have been thinking about the game on Saturday and the woulda, coulda, shoulda's and realized none of that matters. The sky is not falling on the Spartan Nation. The Spartans could easily be undefeated in the IIAC.

Last year the Spartans won the IIAC, my fantasy football team won the championship, and I shot a record Pope & Young buck with my bow along with 3 other does. It was a great year...I was on cloud 9 from the football season, had enough extra cash to buy my "family"  ;) an Xbox360 and Kinnect, and my freezer was full with a years worth of meat along with a nice trophy for my family room.

This year my Spartans won't win the IIAC, my fantasy team is in last place, and Not only have I  not shot a deer yet but haven't even SEEN one in nearly 20 hours of "stand time".

So, do I stop going to games??? Stop trying to put out the best fantasy team I can to hopefully play "spoiler" for my friends  ;D or stop going to the woods??? Heck no. Things don't always go as wanted or planned. Deal with it and move on with a positive attitude.

I expect my Spartans to do the same the rest of the way. I know if it was me, I would want to take it out on my next opponent  >:(
