Dubuque with the INT on Simpsons opening drive of the 2nd half and drive half the field for a Spartan TD.  31-6 UD with the lead early in the 3rd quarter.  Looks like UD is taking out some frustrations on the Storm today after letting 3 fourth quarter leads slip away earlier in the season in conference play.

Well, with suggestions that Coe should/could/might be the #1 team in the NCAA D3 west region, it might be best if the Knights just stayed in Waverly tomorrow.  They could order in pizza and watch the Hawkeye game on television.  It would be a much less hassle.  ???

If you're going to make a decision based on 4% of the population you deserve whatever you get. :)

Who will be ranked first in the West in the first official NCAA rankings?
Coe (46) - 4%
Linfield (421) - 40%
St. Thomas (268) - 25%
UW-Oshkosh (310) - 29%

Apparently the Knights didn't think staying in Waverly for the day was an option.  Spies on the ground tell me Knight team busses have left the beautiful confines of the Wartburg campus and are heading south down I-380.  The Wartmobile will soon be on its way west on I-80 to rendezvous with other Knight fans in Cedar Rapids.  Nice crisp weather, my lucky UD cap, Pat in the house, and the Knights on a mission, this sounds like a recipe for a Wartburg victory.  Put this one in the win column.

Not! Next?

8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

UD forces a Simpson 3 and out.  Spartans drive 50 yards for another TD.  38-6 Dubuque leading, still early in the 3rd quarter.

Simpson brings the kickoff out to the 50 and drives the field for a TD.  Extra point good.  38-13 Dubuque leading.

Simpson forces a 3 and out.  Simpson goes 80 yards in one play for a TD.  Extra point blocked.  38-19 Dubuque leads 4:32 left in the 3rd quarter.

And just like that Dubuque fumbles a punt on the 20 and Simpson gets a 3rd TD of the quarter and converts a 2 point conversion.  38-27 start of the 4th quarter.

Another Dubuque 3 and out.  Simpson drives the field and scores another TD.  2 point conversion fails.  38-33 UD leads with about 10 minutes left in the game.

Dubuque scored the 1st 14 points of the 2nd half.  Simpson has scored the last 27 points to cut a 38-6 Dubuque lead to 38-33.

Malcolm Stewart with his 2nd INT of the game.  UD with the ball near midfield with 6 minutes and change left in the game.

Dubuque takes advantage of the INT and scores a TD.  45-33 UD leads Simpson with about 5 minutes left in the game.

Simpson scores TD with 3:12 left in the game to make it 45-40 UD with the lead.

Dubuque wins 45-40 over Simpson.

What was a 38-6 UD lead with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter turned into a nailbiter, but the Spartans finally found a way to win a close one.  Well done!!!

Got beat by what I believe was a better team today.

In IIAC football, size does matter.

Pizza Ranch, Dominos, Godfathers, and Pizza Hut might have been a better idea than I originally thought.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Congrats to the hacks, they played a good game today.

I believe this Hack team can make some noise in the playoffs.

If they win out and I believe they will hopefully a home playoff game and I might get to go back to the Homeport again.
Win or lose we still booze!!

Central Dutch need to play to win this Saturday against a WB team coming off a sound loss to Coe.  I am chalking up a lot of the Dutch problems to nerves about being the team that could end the streak.  The Dutch just need to come out to play and play to win for a full 60 minutes.  Stop playing in fear of losing and you will find the success that has been such a struggle this year.

Yesterday the Dutch continued to shoot themselves in the foot with way too many penalties and not being able to hang onto the ball.  Sleep with a ball in your hands, carry it to class with you, pretend it is that raw egg baby that will die if you drop it.  These are things that have plagued them all year long and I have to believe part of it is just nerves.  Wartburg and Coe will not be an easy way to finish out the season, but play like you have nothing to lose.

Go Dutch

No video of the Dutch game yesterday.  Am I the only one that had that issue?  Do they not stream it anymore?

A small bright spot for Dutch fans, since the staff seemed to have settled on a QB central is 2-0, has had very efficient QB play, and no ints....ignore the fact that was against the two worst teams in the conference haha

I watched the stream of Saturday's game without any problems.

I have listened/watched a few of the broadcast from IIAC games when I can.  I have been pleasantly surprised by the broadcasters.  Specifically Central's and Luther's radio guys do a nice job.  I dropped in on few interviews from the Dubuque site as well.  He does a really nice job too.  I guess maybe I shouldn't be so surprised but I have to admit I am impressed.  Just wanted to give some credit to these guys.

So many offensive mistakes cost us the game on Saturday....

On another note, looking forward to the cross-town game. We really have nothing to lose!

I haven't been to a football game at Loras since I was in school...which means a very very long time ago.  Where do you park?  Is there a tailgating scene?  If we sit on the visiting side are we out of luck as far as restrooms and concessions and all that stuff?  Are we better off sitting on the home side?
