Is this good?

"Wartburg has now recorded seven-or-more wins in 14 consecutive seasons. The Orange and Black sport a 121-25 record in the span, good for a winning percentage of .828
The Knights sport a 28-3 record in Walston-Hoover Stadium since it opened in 2001, good for a winning percentage of .903"   Nice stat from WB SID Mark Adkins..

I know that from 98-00', you can add another 15-1  to that mark..  so that would be 43-4 for WB @ home since 98'
Not nearly enough playoff victories in that span for the knights, but it has gotten better in the last few years..

curious as to what their home record was from 92-97 when they had like 10 coaches?

dutchfan, let's hear some of the ridiculous stats from central on their wins/streaks

I looked back at the '03 poll for a piece in ATN and saw we had Wartburg ranked 5th going into the playoffs that year, IIRC.

That might have been the year you pummeled Lake Forest in the first round though.

Quick picks this week (no time for scores or reasoning)
Wartburg over Dubuque ... should be interesting though. But it being at home ...
Luther over Loras ... Ok, I'm back on the not-as-bad-as-their-record bandwagon.
Central over Simpson: D'Oh!
Coe over Cornell: Kohawks salvage season, wonder what could have been.
Buena Vista over Waldorf: No idea, just picking the D3

K-Mack, The Show, Sportsknight, and Norsefan remember there are 5 games this week for the overall pickems

Tempted to throw some upsets in there to see if I can catch the lead, like a team shooting threes at the end of a basketball game ... but you have to go with what you know, however limited that may be :)

And if you can't go to High School, go to Cascade, right Sportsknight? ;)

A Cascade alum, a Western Dubuque alum, and a Beckman alum are all standing at urinals in the men's room at a Dubuque restaurant.  The Beckman alum finishes zips up, and walks over to a sink, where he begins furiously washing his hands with soap and hot water.  The other two look at him and ask what he's doing.  The Beckman alum replies "I went to Beckman, where they taught us that cleanliness is next to godliness and we should strive to be as close to God as possible."
A couple minutes later, the WD alum finishes up and walks over to another sink, where he runs his hands under the water for a couple of seconds.  The Beckman alum asks him what he's doing.  He says "Well, I went to Western Dubuque, where we were taught that we should conserve our resources so that there's enough left over for everyone.
As both of them are washing their hands, the Cascade alum finishes up and walks past them towards the door.  They both ask why he isn't going to wash his hands.  The Cascade alum pauses and says "I went to Cascade, where they taught us to not piss on our hands."

Got to get those picks in.  Wish this year could have been better for Luther, definately thought it would.  Hopefully they finish with a bang.

BV over Waldorf...wow

Coe over Cornell

Wartburg over UD but I think this one will scare the knight faithful

Central in a landslide over the storm

Luther over Loras in a good game.  Finish strong Norse, explosive offense of today and stout defense of the past combine.

Dubuque at Wartburg...I think the 'burg needs to take a page out of Centrals recipe for success against Dbq this year and let Hammes pound the ball, UD couldnt stop Schuring and Hammes runs for 185 while the fast defense of the burg stifles Belleus...WB by 17
*This sends Wartburg on the unfortunate roadtrip up to Whitewater next week.

Any chance that WB could slip into the #7 slot and head to Johnnie-ville W1 of the playoffs and set up a possible rematch with Central?  Or would they want to save the POSSIBLE matchup for as late in the playoffs as they could get it?

If Central and WB play each other in the playoffs, is it a neutral site game, would the higher seed get the game, or would it be decided some other way?

Throwin' in my picks for the week .....

Coe over Cornell 30 - 13....Coe finishes up the season on the right foot, big game for Northern .... I hope  ::)

Wartburg over UD 24 - 17 ....... UD gives the knights a scare ... 'Burg moves onto a first round game

Central over Simpson 20 - 10 .... Central controls the game and get the W

The hardest choice of the week ......
Loras over Luther  24-20 ...... Close game, Hall and the Loras D are able to slow down the Norse just enough

Congrats to all on a GREAT year

I dont see WB heading anything past 8 unless maybe LaCrosse loses their 2nd in region game...even then Im not so sure...but who knows with the committe. If it does happen and Wartburg does steal a game from SJU and lines up the rematch with Central, the Dutch would host the game. I believe the higher seed always hosts. Whitewater hosted all the way through the Stagg Bowl last year as example. Im sure Pat or Kmack will correct me if I am mistaken though.

How did the original go to this? Was it Iowa, Iowa State, UNI fan? I can't recall for sure.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I wish every senior could go out on a positive note, but it just doesn't work that way.

The original way I heard it was with a Marine, a Navy seal and an Army ranger (marine got taught not to pee on himself).

That joke is pretty old.  Originally it went like this.  A Central man and a Simpson man finished urinating in a two-holed outhouse and buttoned up.  Of course the Simpson man got some on his hand.  When he reached into his pocket for his handkerchief, a nickel accidentally fell out and down the hole.  The Simpson man reached into his pocket and pulled out a quarter and threw it in.  The Central man asked, "What the heck are you doing?"  The Simpson man said, you don't think I'm going in there for a nickel do you?"

I'd say we did pretty well to get all the way to Friday before things went in the toilet.

First time I heard it, it was Wahlert, Hempstead, and Senior.  Works pretty well (if not better) for the other 3 high schools in DubCo, if you ask me.

Best of luck to the Knights this weekend.  I'll say the same thing I said when we were going for a Pool C slot four years ago: Just take care of business.  Play hard, and good things will happen.

To be sure, we are on the bubble, and it looks like we're going to need some outside help to make things more secure.

Here's a weekend CHEAT SHEET for Wartburg fans (Root for the team listed FIRST to win):

Must Win (Obviously)

Wartburg (8-1) vs. Dubuque (5-4)

Very Helpful (Keeps teams out of the picture altogether)

- Illinois Wesleyan (3-6) vs. Wheaton (8-1)
- Rochester (7-2) vs. Hobart (7-1)
- Alfred (7-2) vs. St. John's Fisher (8-1)
- St. John's (9-0) vs. Bethel (8-1)
- McMurry (3-6) vs. Hardin-Simmons (7-1)
- Curry (10-0) vs. Coast Guard (8-1)
- Baldwin-Wallace (7-2) vs. Capital (8-1)
- Hanover (4-5) vs. Franklin (8-1)
- Ithaca (7-2) vs. Cortland St. (8-1)
- UW-Oshkosh (5-4) vs. UW-La Crosse (7-1)

Also Very Helpful (Pushes teams out of the Pool C picture)

- Millikin (3-6) vs. Augustana (6-3)
- Norwich (2-7) vs. Springfield (8-1)
- William Patterson (1-8) vs. Rowan (6-3)

Slightly Helpful (Hurts other teams' Quality Wins rating, or helps ours)

- Tri-State (2-7) vs. Albion (4-5)
- North Central (7-2) vs. Carthage (6-3)
- Union (7-1) vs. RPI (6-3)
- Worcester Polytech (3-5) vs. St. Lawrence (4-4)
- Grove City (2-7) vs. Merchant Marine (3-6)
- Wilkes (9-0) vs. King's (6-3)
- SUNY-Maritime (1-5) vs. Mt. Ida (4-4)

- Minnesota-Morris (7-2) vs. Concordia-Moorhead (3-6)
- Augsburg (0-9) vs. Hamline (3-6)
- St. Olaf (7-2) vs. St. Thomas (6-3)
- Lewis & Clark (0-8) vs. Linfield (5-3)
- Mary Hardin-Baylor (7-2) vs. Howard Payne (5-4)
- UW-Stout (3-6) vs. UW-Stevens Point (5-4)
- Ohio Northern (5-4) vs. Wilmington (3-6)
- Mt. Union (9-0) vs.  Marietta (6-3)
- Coe (6-3) vs. Cornell (2-7)
- Simpson (3-6) vs. Central (9-0)
- Brockport St. (3-6) vs. Buffalo St. (3-6)
- UW-Stout (3-6) vs. UW-Stevens Point (5-4)
- UW-Eau Claire (2-7) vs. UW-Platteville (5-4)

For what it's worth, I'll re-post a link to the breakdown on my website:
http://bigredlance.blogspot.com/2006/11/2006-d3-football-playoffs-pool-c.html

So there you have it.  Remember that in 2002, it took a team in Maryland (Johns Hopkins) knocking off a team in Pennsylvannia (Muhlenberg)  in order for Wartburg to secure the final playoff spot.  Like I said, just play hard, and good things will happen.

ramfan27

Picks-

BV over Waldorf- No clue so go IIAC.   BV 23-7

Central over Simpson- Great year for Coach McMartin and the Dutch.  Good luck in the playoffs.  Dutch 24-7

Luther over Loras- Tough game both teams have played well at times this year.  Norse pull it out though 28-21

Wartburg rolls UD- The Knights leave no second guessing in trying for a playoff spot.  Knights 38-14

And Finally.........
Cornell over Coe- No true Ram fan will ever pick a loss to the Kohawks.  Hopefully the Rams will be fired up and come out swinging and not let down.  Rams 38-35

Good Luck to everyone this Weekend

Correction FYI - Whitewater did not host all the way to the Stagg Bowl last year.  They traveled to Linfield for that epic game, as Linfield was the #1 seed, WW was #2.  But as I understand it, the higher seed usually hosts each game, except possibly in the first round.
