UD has completely revamped their offense with the loss of Wyatt Hanus and will soley be running the wildcat with Dakota Runde and Kyle Acker. Good luck stopping them IIAC!!

LOL....although there may be some merit to trying something wild at this level.

109 days until opening weekend of Sept. 7th

When do fall camps start?

UD indoor practice facility set to open December of this year.

Any other construction projects underway or in the works around the conference?

BVU put in new turf for 2011 and had new concessions, scoreboard, and visitor seating by last year.  Anything else planned?

Simpson put in new turf for 2011 and has plans for new concessions other projects...are those plans underway or still waiting for funding?

Coe added visitor side seating for 2011...any other plans?

Anything else scheduled or in the works for conference schools???

My wife and I were able to take a tour of the new Heritage Center recently.  While the main theater, black box theater, class rooms and offices are nice...we marvelled at the dining options kids have today.  That place had an ice cream shop, a coffee bar, stir fry station, a convenience store, and probably more that I can't think of now.  This goes along with a juice bar open in the recreation building as well as the old cafe and the underground in Peters Commons.  I have seen the dining options Wartburg has at the W and saw pictures of the new student center at Simpson.  I'm sure the other schools have similar dining options as well. While my college life was enjoyable...it would have been much more enjoyable with the dining options kids have these days ;D

Oh youd be surprised...even all the food choices in the world get old after 4 years.

Proposed UD Indoor Intramural /Practice Facility

... HOWEVER ... who's the genius that decided to build a pole shed next to the College's new front entrance?  After spending millions on attractive facilities over the past decade, they're going to erect a warehouse between the campus and Hwy 20.  It seems there was a tremendous lack of imagination accompanying the college's most recent $13.5M windfall.

Yeah, the indoor practice facility isn't quite the remarkable architectural marvel as some other recent additions to the UD campus.  But looking at indoor practice facilities at Clemson, South Carolina, Florida St, Kansas St, Iowa, and Michigan they all pretty much have a pole shed appearance to them.  While those have a full 100 yard field with 2 endzones, UD will have a 50 yard field and 1 endzone.  Of that $13.5M windfall...$10M went to the construction of a new suite style dorm and $3.5M of it is earmarked for the practice facility.  The practice facility will be between the football field and the new dorms and soccer field...so actually it will be pretty well hidden.

Now, while UD was founded as a seminary for german speaking immigrants moving into this area, the founder was actually Dutch...so maybe like our Dutch cousins over in Pella, UD doesn't want to be TOO outlandish with our facilities  ;D

Looking forward to Week 1 in the Maple City. Where's my Kohawks?

It's hard to imagine that a building of that size will be hidden from the 33,400 vehicles per day that pass UD's colonnade on Hwy 20.  Campus facilities are built to inspire and entice potential students.  While the interior of the turf room will be functional, the exterior screams.  If tilt up construction is all that can be afforded, the facility should be erected in Peosta or elsewhere off-campus and NOT on the front doorstep!

Having seen some decently attractive churches and other public buildings built with the "pole barn" concept ... and not wanting to base too much on a lone architectural sketch ... I'll reserve judgement until I see the finished product.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Conference Only:
Central 6-1
Coe 5-2
Buena Vista 5-2
Wartburg 5-2
Dubuque 4-3
Simpson 2-5
Luther 1-6
Loras 0-7

As far as I'm aware for starting QB's:
Simpson = Taylor Nelson
Buena Vista = Bobby Brown
Central = Aaron Eiseler (I'm assuming)

Wartburg I'm guessing will have a quarterback battle between JJ Hanus and Logan Schrader
Dubuque, Coe, and Luther graduate their starters and not many people have talked about who they have heard will be the starter for them this upcoming season
