if I'm reading into the comments correctly...sounds like most think .500 or below for the Storm???

Not sure about that (don't want bulitin board material)  I just think it would be hard to challenge for a conference title with a bunch of new faces in the trenches.

I've heard promising things regarding Simpson recruiting...so who knows, I just think the Storm might be a year away.

I'm not looking for BB material...I do appreciate your honest opinion - thanks

I wouldnt say that either...While I don't think theyll win the title, I definitely see them in the top 1/3...or at least top 1/2.

I haven't been on here for a while.

So, who is coming in second this year?

Id bet my savings it will either be Coe, Central, Wartbrug, Simpson, or DBQ  ;D

It is Tour De France season so of course performance enhancing drugs are on everyone's mind.  So here is a topic I'm sure has gone around before but I don't have any recollection of it.  How often do DIII athletes get tested, how often are there positives, and what are the consequences?  I, along with I suspect most of us, like to think DIII is, at least, purer than most sport.  But it must happen don't ya think?  I'm not looking for names, just a sense of whether or not it is a problem.

I believe that all championship events, the NCAA selects a number of players to get tested. Also, the school can have its own policy regarding testing throughout the year.

I believe you've got it correct D3.  Following post season competition a certain number of players from each team are selected for testing.  I'm not sure what that number is.
There was an incident a few years ago in WHITEWATER in which a selected player (not a WARHAWK) was apparently so dehydrated that they were unable to provide a specimen. The team's departure was delayed for some time after the game but finally they left without his having been tested.  We had beaten them in the game but it was my understanding that they would have had to forfeit had they won and the player had been unable to provide a specimen.

I would take a picture of the progress at Walston Hoover, but the have a black tarp draped over the perimeter fencing. Perhaps they are in the process of putting in the new track.   Beautiful day in Waverly, almost feels like football weather.

I think that might have been the year Wartburg was up there, I knew the bus was delayed from leaving but I thought the player was eventually able to provide a specimen.  I might be remembering wrong though as it was I think six years ago.

Hey d-dog.  This is off football but since you do so much driving around ... are there still those "curbed roadways" in Iowa?  I remember narrow two lane roads made narrower by the curbs.

And for the rest of you ... do you have any "Iowa distinctives" you'd like to share?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I'd rather not name the school.  However I will say that it wasn't Wartburg.

I can remember those, but I can't think of seeing any during my adult life.  Most of the one lane bridges are gone now as well.

A "Wisconsin distinctive" I would like to see more of in Iowa is rural supper clubs.  In Wisconsin it seems like anytime a county blacktop meets another county blacktop there is a supper club on the corner.  Great greasy food and plenty of beer can be found there.  You see more of those in Iowa from Dubuque up to the Minny border along the Wisconsin border, but I don't see them too often as I drive around central Iowa.

Driving by Wartburg yesterday with a blue sky and temps in the mid 70's really got me wanting to see some football.  We got good news earlier in the week when we found out our sons flag football games are on Sundays this fall...won't interfere with our IIAC viewing.  We're wondering if we will be the only family tailgating at flag football games this fall?

I remember the Dugout Supper Club in Dickeyville ... and it seems to me there was one other in sw Wisconsin.  Then of course there was Timmermans in East Dubuque.  At one time in Independence, Iowa there was the Jungle Club ... long gone now I'm sure.

The best one I remember was the Avalon in Rickardsville Iowa just west of Dubuque.  No longer there but it was a great place to go.
