So let me get this right spurrier,  you were there from 1980-1984.   Were you one of the renegades that Birmingham brought in?  Just wondering because if you want to know where UD's tainted image began then you don't have to look much farther?  And by the way my dad is a UD grad and got his masters from their also.  I grew up watching them get their asses kicked, so don't preach to me about IIAC championships.  Live in the now!

Spurrier

in those day you had 5 years to play 4; i was hurt my sophomore year and

missed the season. . .

check the record. . .the spartan won three championships in a row 78.79.80

the spartans represented the conference twice in the diii playoffs before the

days of the automatic qualifier. . .

the late don birmingham was the coach. . .perhaps it would help if you knew

a little about iiac history before you begin to make generalizations. . .

look  back in iiac history and you will see the spartan were know as "school of

champions" under the coaching of Moc Mercer. . .no charge for the history

lesson-  youngster. . .
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Am I looking at the schedule wrong? Is it Loras/UD week already?
A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

Spurrier

i was one of those renegades who whipped on the duhawks with regularity

not only did we whip you on the field, but we whipped you at the bar and took

all your good looking women. . .
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Spurrier, settle down. The thing that got me fired up is you took a direct shot at myself.  That's a bunch of bs. The Duhawks have owned the Spartans for 20 years. There's just no doubt about that.

Southfan

Whipped the Duhawks regularly!???!!!  You guys lost to Loras the second year Loras had football back which would have been back in 1981!  And don't give me this "that was my sophomore year and I wasn't playing but if I was then we would have won, because you know what,  you sucked as a player and do you know how I know that because you played for UD!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Southfan

And Spurrier which bar would that have been at that you stole our women???

Spurrier

Why the defense ain't werkin'?

wow...well, since UD has taken over the board (at we are dominating something today), I'll chime in...Lorbec..I think I know who you are, based on your email..and I can sympathize your position, as my wife graduated from Loras (I was one of the guys who stole Loras' women, I guess), and all I hear every October is how much Lorass will kick our ass..and since I started at UD in 96..its been true...but dude..you went to UD..you have to hate Loras on some level..not saying that you avoid all things purple, but somewhere you hate Loras..right?.....that being said,we all know that conferences are cyclical (sp), so UD has been down 20 years, they had a great run back in the 70's and 80's and are on the right track..but the Loras dominance of UD in football is prety bad..I'm sure if you check back in major sports in IIAC, no one has domianted anything for 60 years...hills and valleys..UD's valley just seems deeper due to Loras, I guess....I can hang my hat on beating Loras in Basketball when I played...

lorbec47

Keith--You and I are on the same page. Man, I've never supported anything to do with Loras. But...I do have a brother on the football team. That kid and I have done everything man, that runs too deep not to support him. Now being a coach, I have the mentality not to get too into rivalries...but when I played Loras, the blood did boil. I hated to lose to them, couldn't stand it. The reason I got so fired up about all of this was Spurrier through a low blow. I won't stand for that, I don't care who you are! Family comes first, and we agree on that.

qbdriver

Gentlemen......and I use that word very loosely,

Could we please keep the board posts on the up and up and not an account of your pathetic storied past.  No one wants to hear it!  Nor do we want to hear your bar room bragging and off color comments.  Do you really think you're cool by embarrassing yourself with these immature conversations and lines of thinking?

Let's keep it to the subject at hand, FOOTBALL!  And the IIAC!

AMEN

It should be noted that we would all like to see UD improve and get better!  This would only strengthen the perception of our conference nationally!  There's nothing wrong with a little good natured jabbing and pride for one's school, but those last few posts were out of line!

Since bitter rivalries are one of my favorite things about college football, it is good that they are getting stirred up early.  I am conflicted.  Normally I would like to see Central beat Simpson 100-0.  But, since it is going to be on t.v., and there is a chance someone who isn't already an IIAC fan might see it, I hope Central wins in double over-time in a thriller flawlessly played by both teams.

Hey guys, I am all in favor of rivalries, but let's get creative, let me show you how a rivalry is done:

"High above the Cedar River there is an awful smell, some say it's the Cedar River, but we know it's Cornell."
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Spurrier

southfan,

you win. . .can't compete with someone willing to insult my wife. . .perhaps you can come up with something a about my daughter too. . .

spurrier out
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Spurrier,
Can't believe Southfan would stoop so low, and what fan is he of the south anyway?
