Congrats to the WB men's soccer team on a great season.  I was watching the game streaming on the old computer, and it looks as if Wheaton was just a freaking buzzsaw!  Congrats to Harrison Kibombo-Lugujjo for tying WB's single season record for goals scored (28)!!!

Seems pretty basic..the Johnnies will need to contain Central's running game.  Does Central use the Urban Meyer playbook or are they more old-school?

DutchHawk

I would say its pretty standard with any team...make them one dimensional and youve got the battle almost won. Its hard for an offense to make much happen when they know whats coming. I think Central gives enough different looks and has enough threats to keep the Johnnies on their toes. Gave up 100 yards running to a QB and RB last week, and having seen Wetzell play I am gonna say Connel is a better runner.

Both defenses have some great numbers so Im counting on a defensive battle. I think the big key is special teams in this one. Im going to give the Dutch the edge here...ask anyone in the IIAC...especially Wartburg and that Belleus kid didnt do anything special either. I think the Dutch put 14 up offensively and score again on special teams for 21 on the day while while I think limiting an explosive Johnnie passing game to 2 touchdowns and a blocked PAT for a final of 21-13 Central!

Get it done boys...time to play some smashmouth ball!!

Judging by season stats..it appears Luther had the best passing attack in your conference.  In Central's OT win..Luther outgained the Dutch 453 to 275..237 passing.  28 first downs for Luther..16 for Central..didn't see any turn overs.  How the heck did Central win that one?

DutchFan2004

Luther turned the ball over on downs alot.  Not technically a turnover but the same effect as one.  Luther had some long drives into no mans land and they went for it instead of  FG.  The D came up huge and stopped them.

The Dutch do go from the shotgun and use the read option some.  They also just pound it from the gun with Schuring.  They do a lot of different things from the gun.  Roll out and pass.  I don't think it is just stop the run.  If the running game has been stopped the passing game has come alive.  Central tries to keep things balanced but if the run is goine well they won't throw it a lot.  Schuring and Connell will each run it if the run is working.  Don't let the passing yards or low passing yards fool you.  They can throw it if they need to.

DF2004,

2 questions:

1. Is your son coming out for the game?
2. Is University to 163 the best way to come from right by DMU?

Safe travels to all teams, fans, and spouses being dragged (drug?) along tomorrow! Hope to meet as many of you as possible at the Tailgate!

I'll be in a gray St John's sweatshirt holding a rapidly emptying redcup.

Where'd everyone go?  At the game?

God, has it ever been dead on here this week.  Two D3 powers meeting in the playoffs and all you guys can muster is some bitching about Coach of the Year?  Yikes.

Great game and great season by the Dutch.  They played with class and never quit, giving them a chance to win even when it appeared it was over.  Congratulations to players, fans and coaches on the undefeated IIAC season, and we look forward to a rematch next year in Collegeville!

Classy, Esq., but then you always are.

I enjoyed listening to the webcast of the game. Too bad it didn't go a few minutes longer.

Congrats to the Dutch on your season. You've got some young players at skill positions and will be back in the playoffs next year.

Congrats to the Dutch on a great year.  Even though the chapter ended early for your taste, it is another piece of a great FB tradition.
