What is game day like in Lincoln, Nebraska?

The tailgating is great, and the 92,000+ fans in Memorial stadium are respectful, passionate and knowledgeable  8-) GBR!  ;)

As usual, we shall see as the season plays out

Somebody has to teach me how to dish out the positive karma.

It's worth noting that Massey doesn't exclude the NESCAC in his ratings, and pretty much all 10 NESCAC teams end up in the Top 40, so you can bump most of those IIAC teams up ten spots from his system.

Get to 200 posts and then you can dish out karma.

Thanks for the explanation about Massey including the NESCAC
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Why does Hansen exclude NESCAC?

Why does Hansen exclude NESCAC?

Same reason they're excluded from d3football's annual conference rankings:
They're completely isolated from the rest of the Division. It's impossible to compare relative strength without mutual opponents.

Why does Hansen exclude NESCAC?

It's an echo chamber. There's just no data to compare how they'd compete out of the conference.

For some further comparison of computer ratings, I did a composite rating of every system that rates d3football (mix of preseason and end-of-2015 ratings), and here's where the IIAC standings are:

0.8835 (22) - Wartburg
0.8671 (26) - Dubuque
0.6146 (91) - Central
0.5304 (115) - Coe
0.4976 (120) - Simpson
0.4476 (131) - Loras
0.3816 (152) - Luther
0.2082 (193) - Nebraska Wesleyan
0.2014 (194) - Buena Vista

I have a feeling NWU will win a conference game or two this year, but I would be surprised if they beat anyone other than Loras, Luther, or BVU.

2016 season starts soon.

Wartburg fans are preparing their tailgate now...

Luther, not to be outdone by their Lutheran rivals, has 5WOL drinking local brew Topling Goliath in anticipation for this fall in typical Norse fashion...

My work takes me across the state...I'll see if I can observe and post how the other conference schools are preparing for this fall  ;)

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

1st stop on my tour, the new boys at Nebraska Wesleyan...

Helloooooooo?  Any body heeeeerrreeeee?  Is there a stadium nearby?  Not a lot of people in Nebraska.

What about Buena Vista you say?

Just asked if beer was allowed at the BV tailgate and that S.O.B. bit me!
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

doolittledog

Simpson College...Indianola...

Simpson grads...not sure I want to try their tailgate

Just over to the east in Pella...Central College...

After Dutchfan1 graduated, the Dutch tailgates have become a bit sedated

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

doolittledog

Heading east for the final 3 IIAC schools...

Cedar Rapids and Coe College...

Nebraska Wesleyan fans may be unaware of Quaker Oats and the, uh, aroma around Cedar Rapids

And last there is the jewel of the Mississippi, Dubuque.  Home of the University of Dubuque and some other college that wears purple.

Dubuque Spartan fans celebrating yet another victory on the gridiron...

Loras fan, after yet another loss, contemplating if they will ever win a conference title...ever

And that's it for my tour...time to get back to work
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Back to work ... at 1:36 am?  :o

Summer is our busy period, finished up about 3am.  On the bright side, just walked over to my (home) office in sweats, t-shirt, and bare feet...very casual Fridays when you work from home  ;D

This cool weather makes me think we're just a little bit closer football season!
