WH must really be getting old.  There was a time he would have wanted to be PLAYING football on a 53 degree day on Jan 3...not WATCHING football on Jan 3 :D

Ok, for predictions without a whole lot of thought to them.  I would think Central, Wartburg, and Coe would be next seasons title contenders.

I haven't seen the Coe Schedule yet.

Central ends with Coe at home, at the always tough Dubuque Spartans (sarcasm alert) Cornell at home, off week, at Wartburg.

Wartburg ends with 3 of 4 at home.  Coe for homecoming, Simpson at home, at Cornell, ending with Central at home.

So you would have Coe playing at both Central and Wartburg.  Wartburg getting 3 of 4 at home to finish the season including both Coe and Central.  Central getting an off week before the season finale at Wartburg.  I think at this point I would give the edge to Wartburg...of course that is without a whole lot of thought to it.  And you never know who might want to leave the Hawkeyes and transfer to Dubuque!!!

That's it for now.  Time for oatmeal and count chochula for the kids.  No cocopuffs yet.

Had the 53 degree day been Dec 23,24,25,or 26th, I would have been playing no doubt

Update on the new wellness center for those who care:

• Floors have been poured for the wrestling room, weight room, performance gym, Hall of Fame Room, and Health Center. Installation of conduit and plumbing and heating lines is under way, and some areas are now heated. Workers expect to begin roofing the east portion of the building after Jan. 1.
• The swimming pool is nearly complete and holds water. The 12' x 12' hot tub and surrounding area has been poured, and installation of mechanical equipment is under way.
• The 12th Street apartment building west of the stadium was razed Tuesday, and three nearby houses will be removed in late spring to complete site work for a parking lot.
• Storm sewer and lines for drain the roof will be installed in the spring.

Sports and Wellness Center facts
• The Wartburg-Waverly Sports and Wellness Center has a total of 200,000 square feet—enough space to accommodate 125 1,600 square-foot homes.
• The building will be heated and cooled by 14 air handlers.

Does that mean it won't always be about 85 degrees inside at all times of the year like the old PEC?

wow, sounds like they're making some serious progress.  wish they would have decided to start construction 5 years ago.

That's right. I forgot the ever tropical climate of Eby Fieldhouse.

Walston - Looks like your HS squad got a little upgrade at the RB position.

Wartburg's Reciever's coach WInter used to pull that crap all the time when he was breaking records at Wartburg and leading the IIAC. One of the cockiest guys I've ever been around.  ;)

Worse than Dave Devine? ;)

Don't know if its an upgrade from what we had coming back, but he certainly gives us depth at that spot and will help on defense.

We'd take the CIML's returning leading rusher, that's for sure!  ;)

Will he play DB or LB?

He may have been the CIML-Iowa Conference Leading rusher, but our guy coming back had more yards last year than he did.
I think he'll probably be our SS. We will be pretty good at LB next year.

What a bizarre weekend with the Norse Men's Basketball team beating Wartburg and the Norse Wrestlers losing to UW-La Crosse.

Sounds like the dual meet was better attended than the Norse-Knight basketball games.  Then again, both Luther and La Crosse are quality teams to watch in wrestling unlike what Luther and Wartburg have shown in basketball on many nights so far this season.

The Knights look like they are ready to go for the national duals next weekend.

Wartburg's home games right now are 20 minutes away in Cedar Falls so I don't think you'll see too high of attendance numbers at those this year.
Factor that in with the IIAC schedule makers being their normal genius self and scheduling one of the biggest rivalry and normall a huge gate game for when the home team students are still on Christmas break and you've got probably a scrimmage type atmosphere.
Props to Franny for the win though.

Hey guys! Thoughts on the big game tonight? I'll take Ohio State -- no contest.
