Totally agreed.  Every school has been made fun of in some capacity for a variety of reasons.  I don't feel as if we have offended anyone, just offered our opinions on how we feel on different topics.  Chill out man
THIS IS...OUR HOUSE!  WHOSE HOUSE?!...OUR HOUSE!  WE RULE....OUR HOUSE!!

Touchdown Tommy

Ohhhhhhh DF1 calling him to the carpet...Just an FYI: in the MIAC there are a few SID's who post.  I think it is fine.  They only come out when there is a pressing question or a statistic is needed or deemed unreliable.  Very helpful stuff.

OK guys, no more making fun of anything at Simpson. All other IIAC schools are fair game, but leave Simpson out of it. Man I hope Adkins at Wartburg doesn't get mad at me when I find something wrong with the new wellness center.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

For his sake, I just hope they don't use artificial turf for the indoor practice area.

I just wanted to commend Simpson on how good of basketball season they have had to date. Both Mens and Womens. Great job Storm. The entire conference is pulling for you.

Speaking of basketball teams....Excuse me for posting on the wrong board for a minute. I just feel so much more comfortable here  ;D It looks like UD is in a must win situation tonight against BV to make the tournament because it will be difficult to beat Simpson at their place the last game of the year. Unless of course, they bench the regulars because they already made the tournament. Doubtful though, especially if the Simpson SID tells them I made fun of their football field  ::) Sorry Matt, couldn't resist but I am done with the jokes.

Good luck to everyone in the tournament and Happy Valentines Day to DF1. I have a hard time saying that to a bunch of sweaty guys.

Storm-what?

Doolittle- Glad you missed me! Been busy over at D3hoops! See, I think facilities are indeed a great investment at UD. They are in a totally different situation as Wartburg and I believe they are truly adding much needed value.

IMO, it's great and fun to make fun of other school's facilities or their teams as a whole. But what's the point in making fun of individuals? Let's just go back to football hmm...

As far as I'm concerned you can make fun of Simpson all you want because it's one of the best campuses in the state and so frankly I don't take much heart in anything said. As far as the field goes- I'd like to think it's a nice field but I have not played on it. I know Simpson did what they thought was best at the time and they were leading the way, by being one of the first schools in Iowa to put in an articial surface. Maybe in hindsight, it's not the best surface, I really don't know- which is why I don't really defend it here. It sounds like the general consensus is that it is not as good as FieldTurf so I can only assume that is correct. I think people get touchy about saying SC opted for a "cheap imitation" and things, because it wasn't any cheaper. They were the first to make the jump to artificial and maybe it kind of bit them because another better product came along.

Anyway- Thanks Walston for the Storm pride!!  :) I think your being sarcastic- which is ok too! It's hard not to be bitter when your cheering for Wartburg basketball this year.  ;D Besides- I'm still holding out hope that the women will win the tourney!

Wartburg and Simpson put in their surfaces at the same time. Wartburg used FieldTurf and Simpson used Astroplay. FieldTurf had been around for a couple years and I believe Simpson may have been one of the first to use Astroplay. Not sure where the main difference comes into play, but I remember standing at midfield at Buxton Stadium and being able to lift up the field like a piece of unnattached carpet. 2007 will mark the 6th year that Walston-Hoover stadium will be using the FieldTurf and as far as I can tell, the only thing it needs is a new paint job.

Aw, thanks, buddy -- when are you coming to visit Des Moines again?

Now that just leaves MY school UD that hasn't responded to me regarding their 2007 football schedules.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think the UD SID is the old BV one before Mr. Huber came along.  Needless to say, I think Huber's work ethic is a tad stronger...

Well I noticed that Rockford shows they open their season at home against UD.  And I would guess the next week Dubuque would be at home against Wisconsin Lutheran.  Then from seeing everyone elses schedules I can put UD's schedule together.

So I got that going for me...which is good.

Edit:  A good friend of mine from UD is married to a Rockford Alum.  Maybe they could make the trip down from Madison and give me a scouting report for UD.

For the record, my handle is SimpsonSID as I am a member of the site.  So to make it simplier for everybody, my e-mail is matt.turk@simpson.edu

I read the site everyday, and I don't appreciate people taking shots at our facilities when you not informed about how we went about purchasing and installing them.

I've always believed in contacting folks directly, not use this forum.

This is a football discussion board -- for football fans. We make fun of everyone else's team. It's fun. It's what we do. Do you think it's appropriate for someone, in their official capacity (as SID) to post on a discussion board?

At least he's up front about it, unlike some people who have posted on here.

And he does not forget to post information on the Web sites, unlike some in the league.

Speaking of making fun of other IIAC institutions, it just isn't as easy since William Penn left the league.

Does anyone remember when the Penn coaches wore knee britches, fluted shirts, buckle shoes and three corner hats? :o

Unbefrigginglievable!

I am absolutely giddy over the Wartburg football schedule for 2007. Several great tailgating opportunities as long as the weather cooperates. :D

Three of the four last games are at home.  Of course the games are against none other than the teams that have, along with Wartburg,  been the confererce champions every year since Barack Obama was a small child on the beaches of Hawaii.  Coe, Simpson and Central at home to end the season.  Short trips to Decorah and Dubuque for three games.  Life is good.  8)

Better get tickets early.  I'm thinking an 11-0 or 10-1 regular season record looks about right.  Have Coco warm up the grill.  It looks like Wartburg and Linfield are back in the playoffs.  One of the two teams will be flying half way across the country around Thanksgiving to play the other in the playoffs.  Put it in the book.  You heard it here first.

I'm calling the county jail  tomorrow to order a whole new orange wardrobe. I have to "BE ORANGE".
