Of course just as you can remember the past you can look forward to the promise of the future.  Dubuque went 2-8 again!!! Well maybe next year they can go 6-4...it could happen, you never know.

What exactly did you mean by this statement and how does it coorelate to your other statements or the "miracle in the mud" that started the conversation?

sc_stormchaser was saying who cares about a play that happened 7 years ago, let it go.

What I was trying to say, apparently poorly so, was that part of the fun of talking sports is remembering the past.  I then went on to try to say that not only can you relive the past but another part of the fun of  sports is that there is always next season.  It doesnt matter that Dubuque had been down for awhile.  We could, as fans, be hopefull that they could have a turn around season even if other schools fans didnt think that was possible.

In a nutshell.  Remember the past, such as the miracle in the mud, and look forward to the future.  It doesn't have to be an either/or situation.  And I'm not even sure that makes much sense.  Hope that helps.

Gotcha. Wasn't sure what you were trying to say. Thanks for the explanation!

Warthog,
Word on the street is that there's a sports opening at one of the radio stations in Musky-town.  You might be getting another Knight in the area if things go my way.

I think Mr. and Mrs.Coco should come out to Iowa and join us for the Wartburg/Central game.

Hey Warty!
Thanks for the invitation, and you too, DutchFan. That's a possibility, I suppose, but you won't have snow by then, will you?

It's our last game, also, but we're playing Lewis and Clark, so it shouldn't be a cliffhanger. If it is, we're in trouble.

The Central/Wartburg game ought to be a much better game. I'll talk to Mrs. Coco. We'd discussed a trip to Hawaii about then, but maybe a little jaunt in the other direction would be fun, too. We had a great time in Iowa before.

Good Lord...that was seven years ago, who cares? Well, other than Central and Linfield fans living in the past. And I don't understand that, it's not like both programs haven't had good teams since... "Miracle in the Mud"  - R.I.P.

Linfield fans are the ones having difficulty letting that one go. Every time you turn around, they have made a comment about that play on their board. You can't say the same thing for Central fans.... It was an amazing play, but I agree: put it to bed already!

Your students and alumni will enjoy the upgrade.

Are you outta your mind dude?  Iowa OVER Hawaii???  C'mon Iowa rivals North/South Dakota for the BORINGEST (is that a word??) state in the union.  Clearly my old roomie Kilted Rat would attest to this.

It's definitely up there :)

Having spent time in both IA and HI, I would choose HI for a vacation destination with the only possible exceptions being if you wanted to deer or pheasant hunt or if you wanted to see D3 football since Iowa is clearly not a destination for DI football this year!
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

TDT,

I'm from Hawaii, and Mrs. C and I lived there after we got married. We get over there a couple times a year, but have been to Iowa only once.

Hawaii is nice and all...But as Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams found out...we have to inform people that they are in Iowa and not, in fact, Heaven!!! ;D

Actually Nebraska would take that title.
I don't care much for fishing and freezing my balls off even in the summer so one could say I'm not to fond of Minnesota.
