So right now Wartburg and UD and Loras are building entirely new fitness facilities and Coe is renovating .
Either way, with BV and Luther building new facilities in the past7 or 8 years. Does that mean that Central's taj mahal from 1999 will now be one of the oldest athletic facilities in the conference?
So from Oldest facilities to newest
COrnell (Will they ever upgrade?)
Simpson (Nothing wrong with Cowles except for the atmosphere)
Central (Nice)
Luther (Well ahead of its time)
BV (Fans make that the place to be)
Coe (No room to build new and I think the last time I was in there a chunk of roof fell on me)
Loras ( Can't find the plans anywhere but for 16 million I hope its nice)
Wartburg/UD (The drawings look VERY NICE for both these places)
These newest 4 facilities to the conference are not really needed to keep up with everyone as 1 could argue that all-sports wise, Wartburg, Loras, and Coe have more than held their own in competition. They are pretty much NEEDED in general. Probably moreso at Coe than anywhere else.

We prefer to think of them as "classic."  ;D

Some people may be interested in this...
Augsburg wrestling coach Jeff Swenson resigned to focus on administrative duties after winning this year's ras'lin title.
The new coach is Upper Iowa Coach Sam Barber. See if he can keep Augsburg up NEAR the top but not quite at the top.
Augsburg and Wartburg have won every D3 ras'lin title since 1995.

I believe just the weight room was added in 1999.  The rest of the building opened in 1970 or 71.

I'll talk to Mrs. Coco. We'd discussed a trip to Hawaii about then, but maybe a little jaunt in the other direction would be fun, too. We had a great time in Iowa before.

Are you outta your mind dude?  Iowa OVER Hawaii???  C'mon Iowa rivals North/South Dakota for the BORINGEST (is that a word??) state in the union.  Clearly my old roomie Kilted Rat would attest to this.

It's definitely up there :)

Having spent time in both IA and HI, I would choose HI for a vacation destination with the only possible exceptions being if you wanted to deer or pheasant hunt or if you wanted to see D3 football since Iowa is clearly not a destination for DI football this year!

TDT,

I'm from Hawaii, and Mrs. C and I lived there after we got married. We get over there a couple times a year, but have been to Iowa only once.

Coco

In retrospect, Iowa does have it's Perks. Some of the people here are real Bohners, but a large majority are pretty cool. You have to Barron mind that they Maigaard their secrets closely, but all in all they're good people. Living in Iowa does Sidwell with me so long as I can get out hunting now and again.

I just came from a free Steak dinner at the 801 Chop House courtesy of Merck Pharmaceuticals. Great food, great beer, great company, and all on the Merck dime! Even better news is I got to bring Mrs KR along and I think this might even count for our monthly date night without hurting the pocketbook!

Coco,
If you and Mrs C do come out to IA in the coming 15 months, let me know! Mrs KR and I would love to finally get to meet you both in person!

That's all I got for now, as the great Jody Jenner once said, "You can lead a man to a form, but you can't make him fill it out correctly or in it's entirety."

And TDT, you've been here twice, and we're hoping you don't come back....

I must admit I do love being in Pella. Hopefully I will be making a trip down to the Tulip Festival this coming May. Dutch letters here I come.

Coco and Mrs Coco:

I sure hope you make the early November trip to the Cyclone State.  Mrs. Warthog and I would certainly enjoy hosting you for part or all of your stay here in God's country.  In November you can see how all those thousands of acres of corn disappear over a four or five week period.

For sure we will have a serious tailgate event for the Wartburg/Central game.  In the event our friends from Minnesota would care to make the trip south to a warmer climate, the Warthog clan would be more than thrilled to invite you to join us for pre-game, half-time and post-game festivities.

Warthog,

It would be great to see another game in Waverly, and to check out your new facilities. The match between Central and Wartburg might be more exciting than the Linfield/L&C game that same day.

You two and DutchFan were so hospitable before. We're going to have to seriously think about this.

Maybe Nurse Cat could come down from Minnesota. You'd like her.

Coco, don't you mean "Nurse Goodbody," formerly known as "The Dairy Princess?"

I would suggest that all of you skip the trip to Waverly and instead travel to Collegeville to watch the Johnnies play whoever. Remember, we were ranked as one of the top ten places in the nation to watch college football by Sports Illustrated. No schools from the IIAC or the NWC were mentioned. No surprise there, right! ;)

Luther made it USA Today's top 10 places to watch a football game...the only d3 school to do so...so there you go

JR,
No, her name is Nursecat, and I've figured out why you two aren't together anymore. She hated being called the Dairy Princess, and you always did it anyway. Man Lesson 101, don't do that stuff.

We had a great time in Iowa and thought Wartburg was a beautiful campus, so we're looking forward to a return trip, and to Pella, too.

I didn't know that about Luther, doclittledog, but maybe we'll get to see that campus someday, also.

I trust SI's opinion on sporting events over USA Yesterday's!

Besides, SI agrees with me :)
