Could look nothing short of atrocious with white helmets, but we'll just have to wait and see.

And as far as Luther being one of the top 10 best places to watch a football game...WTF?  Luther isn't even the best place to watch a football game in the IIAC.  I mean, it is always very welcoming for Wartburg fans to go up there every other year and see the Knight faithful taking up 2/3 of the occupied seats, but I doubt that was taken into consideration by the McNewspaper.

From Luther's website...I haven't been able to find the original article yet..."Luther's Carlson Stadium is considered one of the most beautiful and functional college football facilities in the nation. USA Today magazine referred to Carlson Stadium as "one of the four best places to spend a football weekend." .  USAToday's write up for Luther talked up the beautiful fall scenery surrounding campus, the view you got from the stand, the size of the stands, and they got some good food afterwards.  Didn't really mention the game...but they didn't do that for the other schools either.

Coco, don't you mean "Nurse Goodbody," formerly known as "The Dairy Princess?"

I would suggest that all of you skip the trip to Waverly and instead travel to Collegeville to watch the Johnnies play whoever. Remember, we were ranked as one of the top ten places in the nation to watch college football by Sports Illustrated. No schools from the IIAC or the NWC were mentioned. No surprise there, right! ;)

JR, the Coco's skipped Collegeville the first time around for a reason. My guess is that they liked us better....What you may have in "atmosphere" our fans have in charm.

Luther made it USA Today's top 10 places to watch a football game...the only d3 school to do so...so there you go
Colorado College is another great place to watch a game, sitting in the east stands and looking at Pikes Peak!

Just because I can't stand to see the UMAC above us on here.

Yesterday while walking to my car after picking up a Papa Murphy's in Waterloo, I saw an SUV with an ISU liscence plate that read: "WRTBRG"

Does that car belong to anyone on here???  Just wondering

Luther's words not mine...actually I think there are some papers that have a USAToday magazine that comes in the Sunday paper, I think most sunday papers get Parade Magazine in them.

Edit:  And I found  this link.  http://www.usatodaymagazine.net/

Pat Coleman

That thing in the Sunday paper is USA Weekend.

That thing you linked is not published by the USA Today newspaper.

Ok, Luther messed up by saying USA Today magazine.

I got USA Weekend messed up with USAToday.  My bad.

While that link I gave isn't related to USA Today newspaper...it is in fact a USAToday Magazine.  So there is no USA Today magazine related to the USA Today newspaper...but there is a USA today magazine.

Maybe we are both right and both wrong.  Was that really worth giving me negative karma???!!!

Pat Coleman

Apparently somebody thought so. I'm not the only one who's karma-enabled.

Don't know of anyone on here who that belongs to, but if you see an Orange VW with "WARTBUG" on the plates, its the presiden't wife.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I was hoping we could maybe talk about some football so I'll see what I can do to get some conversation started since we're less than a half year until next season!

I'm doing a little preseason award thing here; please chime in!

Conference Champ:  I like Wartburg for some reason  ???

Surprise Team of the Year:  Loras College

Disappointment of the year:  Luther

Offensive player of the year:  Vance Schurring

Defensive Player of the Year:  Brock Hall

Special Teams Player:  Neil Suckow

Coach of the year:  I'm thinking Osterberger for some reason

Looking at this I think I've gone crazy!! lol!  Hope you all are having a solid offseason!   ;D

I'll chime in with my way-out-in-front-too-early-to-call preseason picks:
Conference Champs -- CENTRAL COLLEGE. (History repeats itself again) :)
Disappointment of the year -- Loras
Surprise team of the year -- UD, again.
Offensive player -- Vance Schuring
Defensive player -- (no guesses)
Special teams player -- Niel Suckow
Coach of the Year -- McMartin of Central.

Have at it, guys.....

I like my Knights for the favorite.
Coe will be the dissappointment of the year going 6-4 or 5-5
Surprise will be Cornell winning a conference game. Luther surprises and goes 7-3(5-3)
Offensive player-I think Sherden is back
Defensive player-I can see Hall
Special Teams-Who knows? If they let Sherden return kicks he could easily take this.
COY-Pat Toohey.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

My favorite will be Wartburg.  They end with 3 of 4 at home, including the biggies...and last years youth will be more seasoned by then.

Dissapointment will be IIAC fans expectations after the IIAC rep to the playoffs loses in the first round again.

Surprise will be Dubuque.  They will either go 7-3 or 8-2 and have everybody saying they can't believe they did 2 winning seasons in a row...or they will go 1-9 or or 2-8 and people will say it surprised them Dubuque dropped so far back so quickly.

Offensive player...Jermar Jackson

Defensive player...take your pick of somebody from Central

COY...Osterberger...for leading Loras to a 6-4 season....prompting much discussion on this message board.
