:o  That beats the dime draws at Gomers in Dubuque back in the day.  Now I know we will make that BV road trip this fall...of course we won't be there on a wednesday, but oh well.

On a side note with the Hawkeyes playing night games against Syracuse and Wisconsin we will be making trips to Dubuque for UD vs. Wisc. Lutheran and to Decorah for Luther vs. Wartburg this coming season.

So how was tulip time down in Pella this past weekend?

I was told TODAY the 5year old  ORANGE oval surrounding "Home of the Knights" will be replaced over the summer. I guess the big guy wants everything around the wellness center to be new as well.

I was given a tour of the center a week ago and it's HUGE. 135- 1,500 sq foot homes would fit inside.

Saturday was great.  The food was good as usual.  I didnt spend a huge amount of time in Pella about 4 hours.  The brats were great and the poffertjes were good as ever.

I ran the Klompen Classic (the 5K the Wednesday night before) -- fantastic food, but I still got out of town in time to miss the geriatrics in Pella and have a beer with my buddies in Des Moines. :D

Only if Octoberfest is celebrated these days without the beer.....

Yeah, running in wooden shoes is painful. :)

well Germany and Holland are neighbors.  They were made by Ulrichs in Pella.  They were some of the more tasty brats i have had.

The splinters  ;D

So, now that football is 4 months away, does anyone have any season projections? Are we going to do the weekly pick-em contest? More importantly, can you guys stand to lose to a girl for yet another season? :) (Sorry -- you guys are always telling me that I need to smack talk more often -- this is as close as I get to really talking trash!)

Dutchfan1,

All you women keep wanting to be treated as equals.  Being a winner is being equal.  I will keep the records as last year.  I hope everyone gets on board early so we can have a real race.  I think that we take it from the beginning to end.  Conference season and non conference.  How does everyone feel about that?  If you dont get on board at the beginning you don't get in.

Wait wait wait. Just because I don't join you for happy hour on Thursdays doesn't mean you can take away my title of best prognosticator of 2006.

You snooze, you lose, WH. :)

DF04 -- You made the comment that we women "want to" be treated as equals. Of course we do -- don't you think we deserve it?

Where is Lance Harbor? He used to run the IIAC Pick Em contest -- he always gave additional questions: predict the conference winner, predict the winner of the west, predict the POY, predict the Coach of the Year. We need to do something like that again....

Yes I do want you as equals  :) You are the one bringing up how a girl wins.  If you were equal the statement should have been is any one going to give me a run for the money this year?  Isn't that the proper question rather than is it a man or women going to win?  That was the point that the contest isn't a battle of the sexes it is a contest of who knows the confernce better.   ;D
