Spurrier

i hope "the future" is supporting the current head coach and the current head coach's plan for a conference championship in '07. . let's hope "the future" can put his ambition on hold and be loyal to a head coach that has lead dubuque from possibly the worst college football progam in the land to a conference contender. . .vince has earned that much. . .

You are right about that DF1.  This season will have some surprises for us. I never thought that UD would be the surprise last year.

Spurrier,

Conference contender is still a huge jump.  I am not sure that UD is there yet

By the way, DF'04 -- you're relatively new to the board (next to some of us old kids) -- have you met Spurrier, King of the Spartain Nation, and close personal friend to yours truly, DutchFan1  ;D he's the most optimistic faithful you will ever meet, from any college.... we have to love him for it!

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him.  I am happy that he is so supportive of his team.  He fits well with me rooting for the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings.

UD is the scariest tem in the conference.They always have the POTENTIAL to beat anyone,anywhere.Unfortunately,their effort doesn't always equal their talent.If they get it all together,they have the potential to be a contender.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

and my new favorite team the cincinnati bearcats in '08. . .but i will always be the king of the spartan nation

So, is Spurrier Terry Lambert that played at UD in the mid-80's???

Spurrier

same last name, but i was three years older. . .terry played running back;
i played receiver. . .both scored touchdowns to beat loras in '84'; both brought to dubuque by the legendary don birmingham; both coached high school ball. . .terry in texas; i coached in florida. . .terry was a great kid and a heck of a football player for his size

Thanks Spurrier,  Terry was a Senior my freshman year at Dubuque.  Due to my lack of height I root for any athlete 5'6" or shorter!!!  I had some friends on the team that could not believe how fast he was.  Good to hear both of you contributed to a win over Loras!!!

I am being optimistic for this coming season for UD and hoping what Old Pro says doesn't come to fruition.  Last years Dubuque team seemed to have some chemistry and played for each other.  Something most UD teams over the last 20 years have lacked.

DutchHawk

The only reason I would call them the scariest team is because it is an embarrassing loss should they beat you. The thing about the IIAC is that any team can beat any other team every Saturday. The scariest teams are the Centrals and Wartburgs that know how to beat every other team in the conference.
