The only reason I would call them the scariest team is because it is an embarrassing loss should they beat you.

Boy howdy! (That's for you DF1.) Have you checked out the improvements to Clark Field and, for that matter, Eby Fieldhouse lately? Very exciting stuff. http://www.coe.edu/athletics/webcam.htm
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Congratulations Charlie,  the improvements look great! :)

Looks nice! Anyone think there is a school that will keep real grass...were down to Cornell, Luther, BV. BV is by far the worst of those 3 as far as playing surface goes. Cornell and Luther could both keep theirs, its in good shape I think.

When do IIAC schools start their pre-season practices???  Is it up to the school...or the NCAA...or the IIAC when they begin practicing???

Pat Coleman

A team's first permissible date of practice in Division III is determined by a somewhat involved formula taking into account the date of the team's first game and the first day of classes.

Schools can start later if they prefer.

Wow, that was fast!!!  Thanks, Pat.

That said, do they really have to make it that complicated?

Would it be so hard to just say practice can start "x" days before your first game and you can have "x" many practices in that time???

Doolittle,

That would be to easy.  :)  The thing that also has to be considered is that not all schools have a 10 game scedule and not all schools have their first game the same starting date.  I think if all things were equal you could set a date and say that this is it.  I do know that Hope college last year didn't have their first game till the second week when they came to Pella.  I don't know if they started practice the same time that Central did or not, but there is one example of two different teams with two different start times for their seasons to begin.

"X" practices depends on whether a student-athlete has to go to class, no?

I know Wartburg players report on Aug. 11th, and the 1st game is Sep. 1. I belive most IAAC are starting the same day.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Yes, I was just getting at how in spring practice they can only have so many practices.  Keeps the coaches from having two-a-days 7 days a week.

I was just thinking maybe instead of confusing formulas just say school x can start practices a set number of days before that schools first game and there can only be so many practices held in that time.

DutchHawk

There are rules about how many 2 a days a team can have in a row. I believe you have to rotate days now, 1 a day 3hrs, and then next day is 2 a day 2.5hrs each, something like that. For some reason the number 25 comes to mind for number of practices or practice days before the first game, Im not sure for positive though, somewhere near there!

If I may, I was reading through the posts and thought you might like this for your  discussion on football reporting dates.  The Division III Manual (Rule 17.11)  beginning on page 149 talks about preseason practices.  Read up if you'd like.  Thanks.

Was doin' some lookin' around on-line and found some info I thought you Loras fans would find interesting.  Looks like your LB Brock Hall has made it to the list of NFL prospects for next year.  Looking forward to seeing the Coe vs. Loras match up after what happened last year!  Heck of a game!  There's also a few more D3 players who made the list as well.  Its nice to see some small school men receiving looks from the highest level!   ;D

Is it September yet?!?! ::)
