Its been a while but after 4 days of football camp, I'm back. I'll be traveling to enemy territory next week for Central's team camp so hopefully I can wash all of that off me when I get back to Ankeny.
A question for the Coe supporters out there-What's going to happen in CR this year. I imagine everyone was pretty upset with the way things went down last year. Who's back and who's coming in to help out this season.
One other thought-What does everyone think of Wartburg and Central playing in week 10? As fun as it is (assuming it decides the conf champ), I think it really takes the chances away for the losing team to make the playoffs. A loss early in the year is a lot easier to overcome in that regard as opposed to a loss in the last week of the season.

I can assume that the schedule makers thought that this game would be for the conference championship, and putting it at the end of the season would add interest and drama to the outcome.I agree that there is a big disadvantage for the loser.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

WH -- I don't think it really works that way anymore. Perhaps in the pre-QOWI days it did but these days a loss in Week 1 is the same as a loss in Week 11.

BTW, that game IS Week 11. Just because you guys aren't playing Sept. 8 doesn't mean everyone else takes off too. :)

Didn't realize that with the QOWI
Everyone still plays only 10 games right? I've just always referred to the first week as week 1 and the last week as week 10.

There are 11 weeks to the season, though. Game 10, yes, but in Week 11.

Back in the day, the Central/Wartburg game was always at the end of the season -- I remember several cold November games that ultimately decided the conference.

Walston - Sat in on your defensive staff's session at the IFCA's clinic this afternoon.  Looks like a pretty good group...

I think we've led the conference the last 2 years. They know what's going on, that's for sure. What did they talk about?

Defensive practice drills.  Quite a bit of the sessions were drills/motivation/off-season workouts.  Not too many coaches are looking to implement different offenses or defenses at this time of year...

WH- Yeah, but your d-coordinator got "hitched" last month, so if the defensive stats slip, you can blame it on marriage  ;)

Actually Central led the conference in defense last year at 9.9 points per game:) Just to clarify!

Sorry Dutchhawk-Little Inside conversation between myself and The Show. Talking HS football.
We both coach and one of his friends from college is our DC at Dowling.

I missed the wedding in June for a fishing trip. Sounds like it was fun. I did make it to the bachelor party though and got to see a bunch of BV boys since we somehow met up with another group of Beavers out for your old Center's bachelor party that night as well.
