OK I admit it... I'm an idiot.
I got the school Suckow  attended messed up. I got the one of the pipeline schools who send stud athletes to Wartburg with another.

I do believe #6 jersey for Coe will have a new player in it from last year.

Sorry for the confusion on my part.

Interesting speculation.
We'll have to see how it all plays out.
If it were to happen it would certainly help the Knight's passing game by adding a receiver that can stretch the field vertically and complement a possesion reciever like Duchman very nicely. It would also add a very valuable return man and a big-play guy that can turn short catches into a long run. Having a vertical threat I believe is what's been lacking in the Wartburg passing game since Cody Kelley graduated.
Anything to get back to having only 8 or , Could it be possible, 7 men in the box against Wartburg.
I'm wondering if this is accurate though because there is a different Suckow that was rumored to be heading to Waverly. I believe from North Fayette.
I love transfer talk in the offseason. I'm sure everyone has stories of guys that were thought to be transferring to their school. Anyone care to share?
The best I can think of during my time at Wartburg is that it was pretty much a done deal that Derek Pagel was coming from Iowa to join his brother at Wartburg, but the coaching staff convinced him to stay one more year, and I'd say it worked out for him.

Always thought that QB from Central would come to where his brother left his mark too, but time is running quite short there.

Walston,

I think that QB is set for his last year.  I think he is comfortable where he is.  He has enjoyed his tenure there.  He has had some success and met some good friends there as well.  I never shared your optimism that he would become orange.  He has always liked where he is.

I always thought Vinzant was a fast receiver who would come down with anything thrown at him.I just saw too many times he was open but the ball never got there. Now that he's graduated, someone else needs to step up to catch the ball, but they also need balls to catch.

footballdaddy,

I think that is a good observation.  Your QB has to hit the guys and give him a chance to catch it.  Not only does he have to have an accurate arm but also be able to make quick good decisions.  The O all starts with the line, then the QB and his decsions.  If the line does not do its job then there really isnt much to talk about.  Walston can or will tell you that I am pretty sure.

I agree 100% with that statement. What i've heard is that Wartburg's staff feels that every positon is in place but QB.I guess it will be interesting to see what happens whan practice starts.

Neil Suckow has a cousin in Blake Suckow that went to Iowa last year.  He was from NF.  If his cousin transferred from Iowa to Wartburg would be the only way a Suckow would be wearing anything but the crimson and gold

Anyone know which one of the Wartburg QB's ran the team in Germany?  Those 10 practices this spring could help a lot.  Not saying any of them are going to be All-Conference this year but I know they have a lot of ability.

There was an article on D3 but I dont recall the name.  I dont think it was Bauder I think it was the other one. You might look at past articles.  I do agree the 10 extra practices help.

I think it was Yordi as well, but it might have been both. I do remember seeing Yordi's name.
10 practices for a freshman and a soph in the spring help a ton.

Walston,

I think you are correct.  Maybe Bauder didn't go.  How did the camp at central go for your guys?  Was it a good experience.  That RB sure did do a good job for the Dutch last year.  I hope that the coaches find a way to use all of the RB's this year.  All three of our RB's did a good job for us last year.

Went well. A few bugs to work out, but nothing major. Didn't realize how spread-out the campus is there. More so how far the walk is from Graham Hall to the practice fields. Good food at the market, air-conditioned dorms, no injuries and football in July. Doesn't get much better than that.

I thought I heard somewhere that bauder was injured and did not play in Germany.I'm not for sure on that either.

Wartburg pre-season preview out

Quoting QB situation
"unior Dan Bauder of Elkader and sophomores Nick Yordi of Solon and Mike Sosnowski of Eldridge headline the battle for the starting quarterback slot. Starting eight of 10 games in 2006, Bauder gained significant experience in the Knights' offense. However, Yordi showed he is also capable in leading the Knights to victories at Buena Vista and at home against Cornell. Koehler points to better production in the passing game as an emphasis for the Knights.

"We will need to be more productive in our passing game, and our returning quarterbacks are aware of that fact," Koehler said. "It'll be fun to watch these guys compete for the starting job. Mike, Dan, and Nick will make the pre-season camp a very competitive situation, and competition brings out the best in good players."

"Our offense will go as the quarterback goes," he added. "This will be one of the most important decisions we make during camp, so we'll want to make a full comparison before a starter is named. However, I would like to have someone in place, full-time, by the Monmouth game.""
