CooCoo, your point is well taken about Raeburn at Coe.  If he coaches until he's 110 years old like Gagliardi at St. John's, he could be the all-time winningest coach ever.  Raeburn has done a good job with Coe.  When Coe and Cornell came into the IIAC I thought they were both going to be average at best.

Are you talking about the .500 Simpson team or the BV team that lost 3 of their last 4 on their way to choking away the conference title?
Respect comes from showing up week after week and putting together a few years of doing so. I certainly respected Loras after the @$$ whooping they put on us last year, but that didn't last too long.
Great Post Walston, Couldn't have put it better myself...

dbljay21, in response to the question on why I think Wartburg will hold Sheridan <100 yds and win saturday,  I mentioned this a few days ago and this is why i think that...

"The one thing I do know is that winning is a habit and Wartburg owns Luther (along with most of the conference) and I don't care how fast this RB for Luther is, they won't let him run all over...  Willis will have their tendecies down, their defensive schemes will be good, and if the safeties listen & absorb the gameplan, they should know what's going to happen most of the time before the ball is snapped."

As I have said, I don't have any clue on what Wartburg has this year,  but I do know Willis pretty damn well and I know what makes him tick....
He'll get in his 70 hrs of prep  for this game, he'll have every play Luther has run so far this season on his board, and he'll put his guys into positon to be sucessful and make plays....  i guess we'll let saturday speak for itself....

one thing i forgot to mention, 26-30 carries for 100 yds doesn't consitutue a good game in my book... unless you're talking about the defense

Warthog - Thanks for the vote of confidence. :D

Somebody earlier hinted that the conference was just the same as it always has been.  I'm not buying that.  I'm not buying Loras' offense being as bad as they played last Saturday.  I think they're much better than that.  I'm also not buying Wartburg as a front runner as they have been in the past.  I need to see several weeks in a row of good play by the Knights.  At this point, anything's possible.

It's Wednesday.  Time to roll that beautiful bean footage:

Loras 24, Central 22
Buena Vista 35, Cornell 7
Dubuque 18, Simpson 10 <-- Upset Special
Wartburg 14, Luther 7

...The tradition continues

Wow, Thanks Lance I hope your upset special holds true it will make my 2000 mile round trip that much sweeter

dave,
I just don't believe that Wartburg can hold Sherdan under a hundred yards considering that they gave up 146 to the RB from Milliken and 146 to the QB from Augsburg...I haven't seen these two players at all and don't know how talented they are, but I have seen Sherdan and I know how talented he is.  Sherdan will have one hundred yards rushing on Saturday against the Knights.  If he doesn't, the Knights will probably win the game and it would be the first time Sherdan is held under a hundred.  Saturday will speak for itself and it will be another great game.

Buena Vista 41, Cornell 7
Simpson 21, Dubuque 17
Central 24, Loras 17
Luther 35, Wartburg 28

Good Luck to all the teams this weekend.
Go Norse!!!

Fannosaurus Rex

It's official.  Central is the only IIAC team with a win against any of the teams on the top 25 or, "Others Getting Votes," list.

Dang show--No tight games this week. Could happen though, never know.

Loras RB lost for the season posted in the Dubuque paper today. Still it's the opening weekend of the new field, should be exciting.

Game of the week is obviously Wartburg vs. Luther. Streaks just have to end though. I'm thinking Luther, but gut tells me Wartburg. Either way, gotta love the rivalries.

The Show

What about the Loras QB?  I would think he would be a bigger loss than the RB from what I saw last week...

Show--Are you talking about #16? He's the receiver that went down last week, and by the end of the game was in street clothes on crutches. Not sure what his status is. That guy is a player!!

The Q.B's took some shots, but I believe they are fine for this week.

fanrex,
What is your point.  If you look at the D3football.com poll then Coe is the only team in the IIAC to beat a team that received points and not lose to a team that received points.   So, Central didn't receive points in the AFCA poll and that is how you are choosing to set them apart from Wartburg and Coe.  Good point.

lorbec47 - My mistake.  I thought he was the QB.  But he did look like the best athlete Loras had on the field.
