The preview does mention Blake Suckow transferred in.

That article was obviously written before NEIL Suckow got his papers in.  got confirmation today he is a knight, look out iiac.  Be interesting if coe's release comes out before they get the final notice of suckow's transfer.

If the above rumors (yes, rumors) are true, hopefully all of his credits transferred over as well.  Won't he be a senior?  He's a great athlete, but hopefully he got his academics lined up as well, cause I doubt he'll be playing on Sundays...  Can't say I've heard of anything like this before, as far as a guaranteed starter transferring between IIAC schools.  But, hell of a snag for Wartburg if it ends up being true.

Traded Tekippe for Suckow and cash. We just had to wait a couple years to get our end of the deal.
Wartburg has lost a few guys that have gone on to start at other schools. Those in recent memory that I can think of:
Mike Hachey-Reciever to Loras
Rex Gray-Started at Simpson, lasted a couple practices at Wartburg and ended up at Central
Tyler Lown-Reciever to Cornell

WOW! If this is true, one of two things will happen to Coe:

1) They will fold and be a bottom division finisher.Might even see a coaching change.

2)They will rally around themselves and become a very dangerous team that plays above their talent.

What will happen all depends on coahing and senior leadership.

Should be an interesting homecoming at Wartburg this year.

The preview isnt talking about NEIL Suckow, but about his cousin BLAKE Suckow.  Blake is a linebacker who transfered in from Iowa.

I am speechless. I mean come on, we all want to win and an athlete is always a welcome addition to any program, but does anyone on here think it is a little flaky to take off for a rival school with one year of eligibility left?

I could see that...but were they starters at Wartburg when they transferred out?

While I would not like it to happen in reverse, being on the receiving end of this one, I'm all for it.
I had heard in the past that there wasn't much done at Coe to make him feel welcome there after he looked to transfer to UNI a couple years ago.
I believe Hachey was a starter. If he wasn't he played a lot.
I wasn't equating any of that to Suckow leaving Coe because he's a totally different calibur player, I'm just saying it has happened and since its more of an impact player now its getting more news.

Walston,

I am sure that you will take any good recruit how ever you can.  Most people don't look a gift horse in the mouth.  I do find it odd that a senior that was a very important part of their team would become a Benedict Arnold and leave for a rival school.  I can never see you or any starter with that type of talent leaving Wartburg or Central unless there were other things entering into the mix such as a coach getting fired or leaving under cloudy circumstances.  One thing I have seen from the IIAC teams and schools.  They tend to take care of their own.  The alums help get kids jobs and other things.  The bonds that the alums share are real from what I have seen.  To throw them away at Coe and go for only one year to Wartburg does not make a lot of sense to me.  Having said that it is his life his playing time and he can choose whoever he wants to play for.  I do think you are correct.  It will be a huge homecoming game for Wartburg.  There will be only one game that all the Kohawks want to win more than any other or more than normal this year.

I guess that's the beauty of D3.If there is a problem, you can leave with no strings attached.

I do wonder why someone would leave like that.Is it a vote of no confidence for the team,or for the coaching staff.Does anyone have any insight if there are problems at Coe?

footballdaddy,

It is a good part of D3 that kids can go to a different school and not be penalized for the transfer.

I think there were a couple factors that entered into his decision.  I've been told he wasn't treated too well by Raeburn after he thought about leaving a couple years ago.  I'm also not sure he was happy with the way Coe was using him (more as a WR and a RB).  His girlfriend is a Knight, or at least was.  Being's from Freddy he knows the area quite a bit and has a lot of friends around.  I'm not saying all of this is 100% the truth but more like speculation.
