WOW.....I take a couple months off away from this board and all hell breaks loose. That is a total surprise to me. If he wasn't going into his senior season then I could kind of understand it a little more. I know there are two guys at Coe right now that were at Cornell and one transferred there right before last season where the other just transferred there over this summer. They however are only a sohpmore or a junior. Plus with the coaching change last year and the record I guess it is more understandable. I do know that Coach Dillon was pretty pissed about it and thought they were taking the easy way out especially with him there now there have been significant changes in trying to make Cornell a winning program.

In addition to Suckow leaving I also heard that Demoulin(not sure on the spelling) left as well...any truth behind this? Anyway glad to be back and cannot wait for the upcoming season.

If that's the case then a TON of pressure would be on Tekippe. No Runningback/slot and no back-up.

DeMoulin left way back in December. Transfered to a school near St. Louis, where he's from. It was clear that TeKippe would return to the starting lineup, so Bobby decided to go elsewhere.

Charlie,

That makes some sense.  That is to bad.  He had two years left didn't he?

OK,we've heard all the Coe stuff, but has anyone transferred out of Wartburg or Central to another IIAC team besides Teikippe?Has anyone became a starter after transferring?I'm relatively new to the IIAC so you old hands will have to get me in the know.

I can not speak for this year as it hasn't started, but Central has Brett Doud a transfer from Iowa State, Codie Huisman a transfer from Iowa, and Vance Schuring a transfer from Truman State.  These are the only ones that I know of that are starters.  None from other IIAC schools that I am aware of.  All three of these guys are three year starters for sure and Doud may be a four.

Mike Hachey left Wartburg after the '04 season for academic reasons and ended up at Loras.  He was their #2 receiver over there in '05.  Tyler Lown left Wartburg for Cornell after 02 and played his last 2 years as a WR and return man.  Saw more time returning and on spec. teams than he did offensively.  Those are the only two guys that come to mind right away as far as people that left Wartburg and played elsewhere.  Mitch Moore also left Wartburg after his soph. year to go to UW-Whitewater, but I never heard if he played out there or not.

Far as guys coming into Wartburg, I can't think of anyone else transferring in from another IIAC school lately.  But when you look at Dave Devine coming from UNI, Tim Velky and Ryan Winters coming in from S. Dakota, and the year Brock Ita played at Wartburg after starting down at the U. of Iowa, I think the Knights have a pretty good track record of welcoming newcomers and helping them do big things.

I posted this earlier, but Rex Gray came to Wartburg for a few practices a couple years ago and didn't make it so went to Central to return kicks. Tyler Lown left a couple years ago and started at Cornell. Mike Hachey started at WR for Wartburg and left to start at Loras. Tekippe used to be on the football and baseball team at Wartburg. There is a DB that starts for Luther, his name escapes me, that used to be on the Wartburg baseball team. Transfers happen all the time. Sherden transferred in to Luther, all the ones at Central that DF'04 mentioned. 2 D1 transfer QBs at Simpson, the QB Wiebers from BV a couple years ago was a transfer. The Knights basketball team lost their best player from a year ago via a transfer.

Cornell has had some transfers come in the past few years. Adam Eichhorn and Jason Williams both transferred from Iowa. Eichhorn wasn't playing football at Iowa. Williams was a thrower for the track team at Iowa. Chris Gustafson Transferred from Colorado. Lucas Stanton transferred from Luther and as mentioned before Tyler Lown from Wartburg. All of those guys ended up or are still starting for the Rams.

IIAC experts, I have a kid that is considering playing in the IIAC. He's a late bloomer which means not on the broard/list for D1 programs and will have to compete with JC players at the end of his senior season. He's a versatile player, can play RB, TE, Rec, FB and QB, any offensive skilled position. He has experience and success in each position. He would like to focus on the education first with a good opportunity to play football.

Which IIAC school(s) offer the best opportunity to break into the line up and play during his freshman or maybe his sophomore year and why?

Looks like all have good educational opportunities. Looks like this conference has talent based on the post, who has the best opportunities to play football.

DutchFan2004

CFF,

Well Central has a bunch of seniors leaving after this season.  His chance for playing as a freshman are pretty slim for the skill position IMHO.  Even for D3 college football is a huge jump.  I don't recall any freshman QB's and if there were some I don't think they were very successful.  Suchow for Coe did play as a freshman at RB/WR.  Not sure where he would fit for playing time.  My advice is to meet with the professors first and choose the school that will get him the education that will get the degree he wants.  Meet with the coaches and see what they have to say.  I know Central's attitude is if you are the best player you will play even if you are a freshman.

That being said, I'll tell you all the good things about Wartburg eventually.
What's he going to study?

Hey, I am new to this message board, although I read it occasionally to see whats new in the IIAC.

Ash Park, I found it interesting that guys would transfer from Cornell to Coe considering that long standing rivalry. Any reason for this?

CollegeFootballFan, like Walston Hoover said this seems to be a very biased messageboard. Looking at depth of all the teams in the IIAC, Cornell is probably one of the school with the best potential for a starting spot. 3 reasons for this

1. Smaller Squad then most IIAC teams
2. New Coach, which means he still doesnt have favorites, or guys who have been playing for him the last 2-3 years.
3. Each position has had a different starter the last couple of years, including freshman and sophmores:

QB: Ryan Mills (started as a sophomore 2006 season)
RB: Travion Hardman (started as a freshman and sophomore last 2 seasons)
FB: Mike Thompson (started as a freshman 2006 season)
WR: Jesse Struble (3rd WR as a sophmore 2006 season)
TE: Alex Macey (Significant playing time as a freshman 2006 season)

Though they are all young and talented, they were also really the only options for Cornell the last 2 seasons, which means it opens up chances for any new players coming into the picture.

Also at WR and TE the top starters are all seniors this next season.

He's going to major in the natural sciences

Based on the feedback, we will pay close attention to the conference this season. The lower ranked team probably will have the best opportunity to play. Looks like the top teams have the biggest supply of players. Sometimes all it takes is a few key players to turn a program around. The kid beleives he can make an impact in the right program and situation. We will look at the Minnesota schools too.

Based on reading the post, looks like Central and Wartburg are the top teams and the winner this year will probably win the cobference.

What about the backgrounds on the other teams? Which will probably be in the lower level of the standing and why? What are the challenges for those teams? What's the deal with Cornell, why fewer players and picked for last by a couple of message board veterans?
