i read sherden played d last year?
If he's such an ass kicker, he must have been playing safety before he was a rb?

other than playing corner in the NFL, based on my bias opinion , I think safety and RB are the two best athletes on the football field....  RB's take the most high speed collisons because of their # of carries  and a good safety plays the run like a LB yet has the speed to run with WR's...

I've got a few question for all the Loras fans.  First of all, I know you guys have arguably one of the best linebackers in the conference in Buesing (sp?), but after looking at the stats, I noticed Hall (I think it was) was leading ur team in tackles, whats the Hall kids story?  I never heard much of him last year.   Also, How's ur RB situation looking?

dave,

you are correct,  Sherden was a saftey.  He started defesively as a frosh.  The norse knew he needed to touch the ball his sophomore year, but still needed his defensive talent.  After the wartburg game last year the run game was struggling. Tyler played both ways the second half against UD, gaining over 100 yards with somewhere around 5 tackles in memory servers me right.  Against BV the following game he played both ways the whole game.  After which he played only offense.

Should be a great game in Decorah this weekend.  Norse fans, make sure you're there early for the tailgate party!

Tough to make a prediction here....but with the experience Luther has coming back offensively and playing home at Carlson Stadium, I have to say this will be the year the Norse pull it off against Wartburg.

The other games might be a little easier to predict:
BV over Cornell
Simpson over UD
Central over Loras

Good Luck to all IIAC teams this weekend....Go Norse!

KoHawk--Buesing is just a flat out awesome hitter. Big tank that was at Iowa State before a knee injury brought him to Loras. He's tough. The Hall kid is leading in tackles after getting 13 at B.V. last week. An injury to the other inside man, brought Hall in from the outside position. He didn't play much last year, as he was only a freshman. Loras back, McCarron, broke his leg and is done for the season. Big hit to the offense, and to make it worse their best receiver Burds, tore his ACL last week. Big hits to the offense.

Ouch, sounds like the injury bug is hitting Loras.  You never like to see that for any team.  I feel bad for those guys.  Hopefully someone else can step it up.

lorbec,

Do you know how Kelly Harrold is doing?  I saw he was playing against St. Ambrose but didn't think I saw anything on him against B.V.  Mike Standafer is also a player that I am curious about since he seemed like he had the physical ability to play fullback in some systems or perhaps even DE.

Are both those guys really 210 pounds as they are listed on the roster?

Anybody want to put an over/under on how many points Loras will score the rest of the season with McCarron and Burds done for the year?  If they average a TD a game, I'll be surprised.

As Coe rests up for its Homecoming match with Luther next week, I'm conflicted about the Wartburg-Luther game. I'll take the Norse by a nose. Either way, it should be the game of the week.

I don't see any surprises in the rest of this weekend's slate:

BV over Cornell
Simpson over UD
Central over Loras

4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Floyd--Harrold did do well against Ambrose and was playing a lot. Because of the rotations, he just didn't get in against B.V. Made a tackle on kickoff I think.

Standafer is playing T.E. He is the backup, but does get some P.T. He was an LB his first season but that didn't last. If you want to know more on the first guy, you'll have to e-mail. Judging from my address you'll know why.

Thanks to everyone for making the Knights the underdog in tomorrow's game at Luther.  That will make winning even sweeter. :D

A win would make 2 "upset" victories for the Knights in IIAC play
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

It seems like it is 50/50 more or less on the Wartburg/Luther predictions.  It does seem like the picks the last couple of days are favoring Luther in a close game, but there were just as many early in the week that were talking Wartburg by a wide margin.

The Norse are the underdog in this game until they actually win one again.  I'm not sure if the pre-1991 Norse alumni ever thought that Wartburg would take over the series, let alone take over the lead in the all-time wins/losses.

It also seemed like most were picking Wartburg last week as well.  Some people were taking Simpson in the upset, but I can understand why since many were not basing the pick on previous seasons but rather how Wartburg had done the first two games.

Has anyone heard if any of the Head Coaches in the league are in trouble or will be leaving at the end of the season?
