#5371
Lots of rain has forced Warthog inside for the day.  It seemed like a good day to get prepped for the 2007 season.

At Mrs. Warthog's urging I rearranged the closet and got all the orange shirts moved to the front.  I even got my Nebraska CornHusker, Iowa State Cyclone, and Linfield Wildcat shirts in easy to access locations.  I'm ready for anything.

Next, my preseason moved to the garage. Our orange Rubber Maid tubs that are loaded with tailgating supplies were moved into position.  I discovered some blemishes on the orange flag pole so they have been touched up.  Then I discover I forgot to clean up the football shaped Miller Lite bbq grill after last season's last party.  The grill  is now as good as new.

Friday I ordered  D3sports.com's Kickoff preview.

Only 13 days until the opening kickoff.  So now I wait for the 2007 season to begin.  I'm still waiting for information concerning tailgating options ay Monmouth.  Perhaps the college president will let us set up on his front lawn.  I can't seem to find anyother campus location where consumption of adult beverages is an acceptable practice.

All I can say to all my D3football.com buddies is,  "BE ORANGE!"
BE ORANGE

Who's gonna be the leader rusher in the IIAC?  I think if he stays healthy, it will be Sheridan from Luther.  Schurring will put up his numbers though.

Leading passer?  Tekippe from Coe.
Not understanding all of the Jackson hype.  He is a great athlete, but he still lacks a lot of discipline and still puts up great numbers in a lot of garbage time.  He is the best dual threat QB in the conference.

Leading receiver?  Trent Kain (Simpson) and Randy Kaufman (BV) are my picks

Leading tackler?  Pierce will lead in takles I am sure.  I think that Lehn is the best though, and Harrison from Coe will be more impactful.

Who are the players to watch.  Calvin Thomas-Coe , Van Rees-Wartburg (Something tells me that he isnt going to step aside and give Suckow any of the carries that he has earned), Tad Hardman-Cornell, and whoever takes the punting duties for Central (VerMeer won them a couple of games with his 21 punts pinned inside the 20), Tom Breitbach-Coe

Central prides itself on stellar special teams play. Its so often overlooked by most teams when it in fact is how you win games.
30 IIAC Championships
20 Division III Playoff Appearances

Wanted to throw in my two cents for the upcoming season ....

first i'll start off with what I feel will be the final standings
1.Central
2.Wartburg
3.Coe
4.Loras
5.Dubuque
6.Simpson
7.Luther
8.Buena Vista
9.Cornell

Offensive MVP - I like TeKippe from Coe, I feel if he gets time from his line he is one of the top QB's in the leage, and with the loss of Suckow it will come down to him throwing the ball a lot more.

Defensive MVP - Hall from Loras, was recently contacted by the Falcons my Dubuque informant told me and I think he's the most dominant with his combination of speed and power.

Players to watch - Sherden - can he stay healthy all year and have the same impact as he has in past years.  TeKippe - same as Sherden.  Hall - IMO most dominant defensive player in the conference.  Suckow - how will he be used at the 'burg?

Coach of the year - McMartin ?  Central ... i think thats the name right?? ???

My predictions were posted here about a month or 3 weeks ago and I can't find them. If anyone finds them feel free to copy and paste.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

DutchFan2004

Ok the season is almost here.  The pickems do you want a whole season or just conference?  I will keep track of them as I did last year if you people want me to.  I think if we are to have it then we should do one or the other.  It was kind of hard to keep track of two sets one just conference and then one set of overall.  So you respond and I will tally the votes to see how to proceed.

Storm-what?

Here are my picks

1. Central
2. Wartburg
3. Luther
4. Coe
5. Dubuque
6. Simpson
7. BV
8. Loras
9. Cornell

I struggle with the SC/BV matchup- but since I am a Storm fan I will give SC the edge. I know SC has beat BV something like 17 out of 19 matchups, but last year BV  triumphed so who knows...
