Indeed -- the good news is that teams play 10 games, not one, so not every individual game result can be reflected.

Golen, Nice reiview of the beavers.  I like the last paragraph regarding the end of last season.  My buddy was the QB at waldorf a couple years ago and it was dishartening when he called me with the news.

MNBeev:  Good to see another BV fan on the board.  From what I have heard the deffense should be solid and could carry them through some close games.  The running game has to improve off of last year.

It will be fun to watch.  Go Beavs.

Klop, yes the running game needs to improve about um 97.5%...And I have a feeling it will be improved from last year not only from some upper class men, but from not one but two freshman.  Last year there was no fullback, this year a freshman should fill those shoes, and be good at it.  Last year, somewhat inexperienced o-line, this year experience and looks like some more size.  Last year small back, this year oh wait small backs again...Well I have faith in them anyways to get it done.

Did Wartburg scrimmage St Ambrose Saturaday and if so how did they look?

Just got back from the Wartburg scrimmage and they looked good.  The quarterbacks looked pretty good throwing the ball around the field.  First play of the scrimmage was a 40 yard pass and there were a couple of other good balls being thrown and a pretty awesome catch by Duchman during the 2 min drill.  The defense looked really good as well but that is to be expected with the group that they have coming back. Lansing had some big hits and the d-line got good pressure on the St. Ambrose QB.  Looks like things are coming together nicely for the Knights.

Luther preview from the school website-

From the sounds of things, the veteran OL and RBs have looked as good as hoped so far in camp.  The DL and LBs should be better as I like the juniors on the DL, but the Oles will help show me whether I am way off on that.  Kickoffs and kick returns looked very strong on Saturday, but I am sure a ton of teams are emphasizing that more since everyone is now kicking from the 30.

The punter was hammering balls at times during the scrimmage, and the placekicking looked much better with perhaps the returning kicker doing the shorter stuff while a freshman was nailing lots of longer kicks.

No matter how things look in practice with a new QB I still always want to see how the passing attack clicks in the actual games.  The back of the defense also has to answer some questions even though they don't lack for experience.

I know the score doesn't matter that much in scrimmages given how most are formatted, but for those that went did Wartburg clearly look like the better program on Saturday?  St. Ambrose has a pretty good program, but I know the Loras-St. Ambrose games over the last few years have been tough games on the scoreboard.

Did the Loras transfer start at RB?

New too the thread.  I'm glad to see that there is a place to discuss DIII & IIAC football with people who have an idea (unlike the local media) about what's going on.
GO KOHAWKS

Sounds painful.  Although at Luther, you never know. ;)

t_m_e,

Do you have a first hand account of this scrimmage?  Did it take place as scheduled?
