You're back!  Great to hear from you. Yes, it is great to be a Knight!  I tried getting on the D2 board, but I've not mastered the second step on the registration yet.  I knew it would take something inflamatory to have you writing us again.  I'm sure the e-mail/phone call I get from my Peacock alum will be even more direct than your posting.

I was up in  the area a couple weeks ago visiting my Peacock sister and her husband. I'd been in Waverly for the Wartburg booster golf outing and was really pumped about the Knight's chances this season.  My brother-in-law told me the word on the street was that the P'cocks might have a good team this year.  Based on 2006 that didn't seem likely, but stranger things have happened.  They should definately be getting a little more local flavor as some kids will now be lured by the D2 title.  I know you don't always agree with me, but getting the local kids helps keep your fans and alumni from the area interested and coming to games occasionally.

Any way it was great to hear from you.  I hope I didn't elevate your blood pressure to dangerous levels.

This is exactly why most UIU alumni didn't want to play anyone in D3 again, especially from the IIAC. They needed another home game and couldn't find anyone to schedule and Loras had an open date. So, no win situation, we beat them bad like we should and we get - play Wartburg or Central, blah, blah, blah...duh, anyone watching IIAC football the last 30 years knows that, but thanks for the reminder.

It's a close game or god forbid we lose then we get - same old UIU, nothing has changed (and even when we do win big we get same old UIU)

I hope...for everyone's sake this is the last time we play anyone from D3 in football...nothing good can come out of it.

Glad this one is behind us and we can move on to D2 football.

Watch out IIAC, the wing-T is looking tough.

Take it easy...that was Northwestern and you won by 1:) Congrats to Freddy and all the IIAC teams that won yesterday!
In case you couldn't tell by the Eagle, I'm a Northwestern fan.  Perhaps my prediction of a couple IIAC victories by Cornell holds a little more weight now.

Nothing good can come of it? I dont understand that statement but either way Im not going to get into the D2 D3 argument because its really a waste of time. Thanks anyway Peacock.

No AO I guess I didnt look that closely, my fault. But no, I dont think I would predict Cornell win any more victories because of their 1 point victory over Northwestern.

Dutchhawk - how clear can I be...read above, nothing good can come of it. We win big it's because we should as we are D2. We win close or lose....you know the chatter. There is no reason to play D3 in football for UIU, it does nothing for us. Now D3 teams it's good locker room material, etc....but for UIU there is no reason for us to do it,

Coocoo:

Lets not get too excited just yet.  Maybe your great day reference had to do with the NFL roster decisions.  You're happy about Fred J.  We all are, but back to current Coe football.

The win at IW was over a team that hasn't had a winning record since 2002.  They have won 30% of their games over the last three season.

I'd give you a "good" day. 8)  The NFL news was "great". ;D  The win over a weak sister was just "OK".   :)

One "great"  added to one "OK"  divided by two equals "good" .

The formula: ( ;D +  :) ) / 2 =  8)

Whatever

Fred Jackson's accomplishment + plus a guy who wants to lessen how good a day it was because his alma mater only beat an under .500 team = PRICK

Dutchfan2004, thanks for the inquiry, but now you might understand why I don't post anymore
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

This is what a class act Freddy Jackson is: when he called his college coach, Erik Raeburn, after learning he had made the Bills' roster and was officially an NFL player, he was more interested in inquiring about Tommy Breitbach's outstanding performance for the Kohawks on Saturday.

What a great day for Coe football!

Congrats!  As a bills fan, and having attended one of their preseason games, he looked really good and I hope he can make an impact!

Beating Northwestern by 1 means increased likelihood of winning IIAC Games? Northwestern would be lucky to finish .500 playing High School teams.
AO, I respect your enthusiasm and support for your school, but Northwestern would perpetually finish dead last in nearly any conference in D3 especially a conference as tough as the IIAC. Maybe NWC could win a game or two a year in the MWC, but no chance in hell in the MIAC, WIAC, or IIAC.

Lets look to the past for guidance on the future, shall we?

Last year Cornell beat Northwestern by 16 and went on to an 0-8 finish in the IIAC. So by beating NWC by 15 fewer points this year, Cornell will do better against the IIAC?

Your logic makes as much sense as the construction sequence on 235.

coocoo,

I thought you had thicker skin.  Don't stay away just because they don't love the Kohawks.  The more the merrier i say.

Well said KR,  you put it into words better than I and responded about that topic before I did.

DutchHawk:

Looks like Central had a nice win yesterday to start out the season.  As you know, not so fun for Hope yesterday.  Looking forward to the "Dual Amongst the Dutchmen" this Saturday.  It is the Annual Community Day (40'somethingth year) with a huge community cookout, fireworks at night at or right after the game, and with the game being played at night (7:00 PM start), a huge crowd is expected, especially since Central will be here with its many "ties" and acquaintances with Hope people as I'm sure you know.  Some are predicting a capacity or near-capacity crowd at the stadium (not sure that will happen, but I hope it does) which has occurred only a couple of times as I recall, including when Hope played Grand Valley State Univ in the '80's for the opening game of the stadium.  BTW, Holland stadium has natural turf and while it was replaced with new sod earlier in the summer and thick, there are some loose spots.  So unlike Central's new synthetic turf, we don't have it yet (we are hoping it will become a reality in the next year or two, but not sure yet).

You asked about Hope's Sr. RB; no he won't be playing since his suspension lasts one more game - he won't be able to return until the Wheaton game on Sept. 22nd (Hope has a bye weekend on the 15th).  As far as the game, even though Hope is at home and we played your Central somewhat close-r ;) last year, Hope will have to do some big improvements in play and technique next Saturday if we expect to be an always good Central team.  Anyway, if you are making the trip to Holland, I hope you have a safe trip and enjoy the game and festivities (except for the Hope win, Hopefully ;) ;D).

Best regards,

As much as I would love to I wont be able to make the trip. Sounds like a great weekend to catch a football game with the expected crowd and all. Central will travel well even in Michigan I am sure so it should be an exciting atomsphere. Best of luck to both teams and hope for a big with for the Dutch!

KiltedRat - Well put. Thanks for clearing that matter up for us. Always appreciate enthusiasm around here but the least AO could do is back it up with some facts.
