WallIDD:

If you plan to stick around and join our conversations, you will learn sarcastic jargon in a staple for many fans who post on this site.

If you only plan to post once every thirteen years, when Luther beats Wartburg, most of us don't give a damn what you think.

To All Norse Fans:

I truly wish I could have been in Decorah today.  Circumstances prevailed and I could not...HOWEVER, Dial-A-shot was in full effect, and trust me, across the country, Norsemen were celebrating with you.

To the players (who I know read this): Keep up the tempo.  Nothing warms an old Norse heart like seeing a tradition of winning.  But it means nothing if it ends here.

To the ex-players: Makes one proud to know that Hefty was right when he said that we would start to turn this thing around...we all are part of this movement, no matter how far it goes.

To the fans:  Woo hoo! Go Norse!

To the doubters: I won't deny it, it takes more than one to prove anything, but this is a step in the right direction.

PPS.  Have been overseas, so don't think this is my first post...warthog, spurrier (whom we miss) et al will remember the good ol' days.

Thanks for the thoughts, it helped paint a picture of the game, most of the time the stats don't.
Dave it is a sad day if you are a hawkeye/knight fan.
Luckily I am a norse and Badger fan, THe Big Red Machine is rollin.

Quesiton for all to think about. Will any IIAC team be able to advance further than the second round this year?

Overseas Observer,
No, we will get beat by St. Olaf, St. Johns, or Linfield.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Sounds like the Luther Wartburg game didn't disappoint.  Congratulations to the Norse on a big win...Next week is another big test.  Go Norse.

Question for the loyal posters:  Does the winner of the Coe/Luther game next weekend have to be the favorite for the Conference title or can Wartburg or Simpson still pull it off?

Congrats to all the victors on Saturday.  Hope every team remained healthy.

Go Norse!!!

I'm new and just wrote a post in the MIAC board.  I saw BU play for the first time yesterday and was wondering if those post from BV and Central would comment on how good they thought BU was compared to the teams you've played in the past few weeks?  Trying to get a feel for how good BU is this year, thanks!

Nice to have you back.  I guess yesterday must have been a great "welcome home" present.

Right you are about the previous players, in the Hefty era, being part of the apparent turn around.  If this victory is going to be more than a flash in the pan it takes a good foundation.

As a Cub fan, I am familiar with saying, "Wait until next year!"  Until then you have a whole year to enjoy this win. Take all the jabs you can.  Bring out the old Wartburg joke book.  Come up with some new original pranks for game week.

In some ways it will be kind of fun to have the old rivalry back.  Wartburg fans have been lacking in developing new "A material" Luther insults and pranks.  Perhaps this will be the key to get that going again.

I think in my humble opinion that it to early to call this at two team race.  Luther and Coe are in the drivers seat if they take care of business themselves.  But I still don't see any team going undefeated in the IIAC this year.  So with that being said I think that any team with only one loss is still in the race.  Congrats to the Norse on a big win.

Sorry I didn't read all the posts before responding to yours.  I think Bethel would bear Loras easy.  I think BU would give Coe a run for their money.  It would come down to turnovers in that game.  BU Augustana would be the same flip a coin.  I think BU has a great team they just made to many mistakes against the Dutch and it cost them the game.

i'm 26 and i have brass knuckles, not an iron fist... get it right if you're going to talk **** about me...

yes, i'm a smart ass and  like to talk **** and for that you can call me pathetic....

speaking of pathetic, i don't hide behind a screen name... too bad you can't say the same.... because if you didn't, then that would make things more interesting for all the readers wouldn't it?
personal attacks are so much easier when you know who you're dealing with....

*see above* sigh.  some things never change.

warthog-  thanks for the welcome back.  it was a nice present, and a bit overdue.  no, i won't bust out the whole litany of jokes, college was college, and most of us (above excluded) have moved on with our lives.  it's great to see it happening, though.

i won't lie, i've missed iiac football tremendously.  hell, i missed football period.  really wish i could make a game this fall in decorah, but i've got my own games every weekend.  i trust that the norse faithful will make the coe game.  let's ride this wave!

Here is a question for Wartburg fans. ???

I have hesitated writing this today, since I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

After church today the Lutheran football fans got together over coffee to replay the Wartburg/Luther & Iowa/Ohio State games.  A Luther grad asked the following question.  All the Wartburg fans answered the question with a "No".

"Would any of the current Wartburg players be considered either the best or second best player at their position at Wartburg over the last 8 years?"

This may explain the current status of this year's team.

Warthog,
The only two I could think of would be Ben Thomsen and Tom Power.  I talked with a couple guys who would be on that list after the Augsburg game, and it was their opinion that Wartburg's trouble has to do with not having any "@$$holes" on defense.  I'd actually argue that the defense has played fairly well this year, despite being put in some very tough situations.  The offense has been inconsitent (as WH noted) as well as ineffecient.  And that heralded d-line that was supposed to be the strength of the defense hasn't shown a whole lot of the promise we saw from the last year.

But when you take it all away, I think that it all comes down to this:

Teams aren't afraid of the Knights like they used to be.
"Graduating from college in four years is like leaving a party at 10:30." - Chuck Klosterman

WartTrainer

I have a question for the Norse fans:  how do you think next weekend will play out against Coe?

Also I would like to relay a quote from a member of the wartburg family "All of the best teams in the nation are 2-2 right now, Iowa, Michigan and Wartburg."

Go Knights

NorseFan

Great job by the Norse yesterday!  Great win, keep the mo.

WartTrainer I for one do not want to predict that yet.   :)  Of course I hope it is a win as I'm sure the rest of the Norse faithful do.

dbljay, its way to early to predict a frontrunner.  Look at what happened last year.

Walston, I agree with you last point.  I heard that we were down 12-3 and my stomach sank a bit.  (still confident though)  Takes a good team to overcome that and the history.

Dave, Luther thanks you for the praise.

KP, you still over there where you are 3 feet taller than everyone else?
