Floyd in Iowa City

Floyd you are having the best season so far are you?  That happens.  I used to be a die hard Hawk fan but when I started following the Dutch I can take a step back and follow them without being fully vested in the out come of the Hawk game.  If they win they win and if they don't then I don't get upset.

Actually, I would rather have more scheduling conflicts if it meant more wins by both teams. ;D

I would agree that the coaches on the hot seat are a little out of kilter.  I would say that my list would start with Simpson and then maybe Luther and end there.  BV is a second year coach as well as Loras, Cornell and Wartburg.  They give coaches longer than 2 years and Wartburg is in the hunt for an IIAC title.  Central I don't think becasue of the recent two years of playoff football.  UD has a winning season in how long so he is safe.  Coe is the only one left and has had winning seasons so I don't see how he can be on the hot seat.  The only reason I put Luther on the list is because of last year and the start they have this year.  This year isn't over yet so I don't really see it being real hot there either.

boy the karma snipes are out but that's ok.  Just got the chili put on for supper tonight.  takes awhile to count those beans to 239.  239 you ask well if I put in one more that would make it to farty.   ;D

To the IIAC fan who is attempting to register for a second username from the same IP address -- why? You are already registered.

My wife and I both post on a Hawkeye message board.  We would have the same IP address.  Or maybe college roomates using the same computer could be the case.  Then again, I thought an IP address meant a computer and I could be totally wrong, which I usually am.

I posted the note in hopes of enticing the person to send me an e-mail, since what I did the last time got no response.

Congrats to Kurtis Brondyke for making the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second week in a row.  That's pretty impressive.  Looks like Central is avoiding some losses with the help of his placement.  It's pretty tough when a team has to start out inside their own 5 yard line...and two where on the 1 yard line in the 4th...NICE.  How does his leg look for power?  I saw a pretty nice boot out of Wartburg's punter last Saturday...although sun in the eyes of the Luther return man and a nice roll helped add to that 71-yard punt.

I agree with W-H, many people thought that Dillon should've been the hire after Miller retired.  Since Reasland got 4 years to try and turn it around, I would expect Dillon to get at least that much time, if not more if the Rams start to show improvement.  We never had a year that our W-L record was better than it was the previous year under Reasland.  So I think any improvement would give Dillon some cushion.

Reasland also came in after the year they went 7-3 and they never really built off that year. Things obviously went down hill from there. I agree Dillon will have at least 4 years to get things turned around.

Why would Luther abandon their best asset to go against a running offense in the Wing T??

DutchHawk-
I'm really not trying to start any bickering or what not but have you watched Cornell play this year? Cornell does run the Wing T but they have really been more of a passing team this year thus far. Obviously when they line up in their Wing T formations you are probably expecting run first but they run more than just Wing T. I agree though Luther may not have to abandon the run game if Cornell cannot stop it. They may just pound the ball and keep Cornells defense on the field as long as possible.

Isn't about time someone give vince and his staff at dubuque some credit for bringing that program from oblivion to a "tough out" in the iiac. . .

i hope the warts are ready this year. . .i'm sure they will be, but no team can look past the spartans now

great job vince, staff, and spartan football players. . .from an old spartan to all the new ones. . .

Why the defense ain't werkin'?

doolittledog

Hey Spurrier, it was mentioned a few pages ago that Dubuque is 3-0 for the first time since 1982.  I believe YOU were playing on that last Dubuque team to do that.  Others then mentioned they weren't even alive way back then!!!  How does that make you feel???

Spurrier

great. . .

let's go win some conference games. ..

Buckwheat

Is there some publication that has the weekly "lines" for IIAC football games?  If so, where can these be found - and what are the lines for this weekends games?  Thanks in advance!

davedevine

Buckwheat,

go to DevineD3spreads.com

No, there's no "weekly publication" for lines on D3 games or IIAC games.

There's only lines for D1 schools.. there's not even an  official line when Iowa St plays UNI- only D1 vs D1

Absolutely!

Now back to more talk about how much Cornell has improved. (Please note the sarcasm.)
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Airborne Dutch

Dutchfan, you are correct. Any football games I catch this year are on 12 hour tape delays. Any IIAC games I'll be able to catch are probably gonna be on 3 month tape delays. Its alright though, thats why I'm here so I can get first hand accounts of the games.
