So I still have no voice from the weekend which has never happened to me before and is quite frustrating when you are trying to coach up a bunch of 16 year olds. Typing is my only way to communicate right now. Looking forward to reading about some great games in the IIAC this weekend.
There are some great matchups this week and the only game I think isn't a great matchup is a big rivalry (Central/SImpson). No IIAC games decided by more than 8 points this weekend is my prediction.

I know how that goes.  I lose my voice every week Walston...I guess you can blame it on the 16 year olds ;D  I like the prediction.  Close games in the IIAC are good for the entire conference.  But what about Wartburg?  What is the point differential going to be in that game?
Unfortunately, this is due to a cold that I can't shake. That, and being out in the cool air on Friday night has officially done my voice in. Unfortunately, nothing is helping and I'm not getting any better. Tough to run business meetings, film sessions, and in an hour, practice with no voice. Might have to bust out the white board.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Sounds like Mrs. Walston is finally getting some peace and quiet.

Purple Heys

It was asked earlier, "what happened to Sherden?" in the 2nd half against Cornell...

Reportedly, he was experiencing a severe migraine and was having vision problems as a result.  Don't know if he has had past migraine episodes or what.  Have no other information otherwise.

My information as to his status was overheard directly from the young man himself on the sideline and communicated to me after the game.

I hope he is feeling better this week.

My opinion, I do believe they overuse...he seems to take a lot of hits, but that's for the coach and player to resolve.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Storm-what?

Beaver- You're right, I shouldn't have said they are gone "for good." Any weekend could turn out unexpected in this conferencea and in fact the Beavers could certainly beat the Storm this year. I just meant that they seem to have gone downhill since that first game.

I would have to agree with most of the posters on here as far as uniforms are concerned...classic looks are best (Luther), Wartburg needs to go back to black on black.  I am also a fan of Coe's uniforms...kind of have that "Program" look to them.

Congrats to Pease...a record is a record, even if he is a kicker.

I didn't have much of a chance to listen/watch any games this weekend (had my handsful with the many many drunk Oktoberfesters at the bar).  KWAR online was jammed full with people once again.  I caught a couple of quick updates on here, thanks to those of you who posted on Saturday.

The only college ball I heard was UWL vs UWW during my quick work breaks....tough 4th quarter for the Eagles.

Looks like Simpson and Loras was the game to see this week in the IIAC.

Congrats to Yordi on another 200+ game.  He keeps getting mentioned along side Matt Wheeler.  Anyone out there agree with this?  I never got a chance to see Wheeler play

Finally...GO CUBS GO!

and so is StubHub... :)  Good luck getting the tix!!!

Success!  5th row in the right field bleachers.  Going with my little brother, who somehow talked Old Man SportsKnight into splitting the cost with us 3 ways.

Enjoy the game, sportsknight...if you get a chance to frequent any establishments before the game, The Full Schilling on Clark is my favorite.  They have drink specials, great food and they give you a free hot dog before the game  :)

Congrats to Pease...a record is a record, even if he is a kicker.

A good kicker is very valuable...and Luther's kicking coach is Cody Teslow, a Wartburg grad and the school record holder for field goals  :)

What does every one say about the up coming UD Coe and BV Cornell game.  With the picks going up on the pickem boards there is not a lot of conversation here about the games.  I am not sure what way I will choose on these games.  Another game that is kind of a toss up is Luther Loras.  Week #6 for someone to go 5-0 would really help them out on the pick em board.  I am leaning towards Coe because of homecoming and being at home for the Kohawks.  The BV Cornell game is a real toss up and the Luther Loras game is giving me fits as well.  Have a great day IIAC posters.

Old Man SportsKnight is cool as sh!t.  After I graduated from Wartburg, I think he missed going to Joe's KnightHawk more than I did.

DutchFan2004, I like Coe in this spot. Dubuque had some big plans for this season, and might come out a little flat, after getting throttled in the 2nd half last week. The Coe team appears to have closed  ranks, and you can bet they're playing with a little chip on their shoulders. Kind of the " Us against the world type." Bet its been a couple intense weeks of practice, in Kohawk land, with their up coming schedule. Dubuque-Central-Evil Empire. You have to win the 1st one first.
