The dutch aren't the only ones who were playing a little sloppy on saturday. The 14-10 score of the Coe-Luther game could have been more if Coe had avoided costly turnovers and penalties in the red zone.

This is totally off the subject, but the Coco's haven't posted since their tour through the Iowa Conference -- Coco, where are you? I hope you made it back to Wildcat country safely!  :)

dutchfan1,.......  Rumor has it that Mr. & Mrs Coco were at the PLU vs Linfield game sat. :)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Kohawk,

You are right that Coe could have scored more if they wouldn't have turned it over four times, but wouldn't it work the other way too if Luther hadn't turned it over four times? :P

By the way, Luther is leading the conference in turnovers forced.  They led the league in this statistic in 2004 as well.  At some point ball protection or a lack thereof is more than just bad luck by the offensive team.  Luther's offense I'm sure went into the game thinking that they would win if they valued the ball.  They were not able to protect it from Coe's defense and they lost.

Some teams progress more than others as the season goes on, but right now there is not too much that is separating Coe, Central, Wartburg, Luther, and Simpson.  They all have different strengths, but let's not turn the Coe win on Saturday into something more than it was.  The stats were also pretty even until Suckow popped that run when Luther was trying to get the ball back with around a minute left in the game.

Why does it always have to be sloppy play for a team to have turnovers?  Turnovers are part of the game, with a majority caused by the opposing team.  Luther also had 4 turnovers in the game, had they avoided costly turnovers and penalties the game may have been a different story.  But not the case and coe won.  congrats to them on scoring a few more points with the same amount of turnovers.
Kohawk,
I am sure the Kohawk defense is saying they forced 4 luther turnovers, not that luther played sloppy.

Floyd beat me to the punch line here and was well stated

Hey, DutchFan1!

I'm here! It just took me while to get back on the board. We were gone most of the summer, and gone or having houseguests this fall, so it took me a while to get back on here with the new format.

Thank you, thank you, for your hospitality a few weeks ago.  You and the Warthog family are something else.  For the rest of you IIACers, when Mrs. Coco mentioned to DutchFan 1 and Mrs. Warthog that we were planning a trip to Minnesota and Iowa, the hospitality kicked into high gear, and we had a great time with them. It was good to meet other Wartburg folks at the tailgate before the Wartburg/Augsburg game. Warthog knows everybody!

Wartburg and Central have nice campuses, and we enjoyed looking around them, too. Did anyone know that Iowa has corn?  Pella is a cool town, and we brought home some Dutch letters for little Coco.

We got to see Walston Hoover at the game, too, and Mrs. Coco took a picture of the four of us -- DutchFan, Walston Hoover, Warthog and me. There was so much orange at that game it looked like an OSU game.

Thanks again, IIAC.

Hey has anybody noticed that Coe is the only IIAC team in the top 25 ???  wheres Wartburg and Central?

DutchFan2004

Kohawksideliner,

Why would the Dutch be in the top 25 when Coe has beaten them???? This post does not show your that you have been learning anything at Coe.  It is only a post to inflame the other people here.  The one thing about polls (and I mean all polls) is that they are not accurate.  Look at the votes recieved.  Central beat Augustana yet Auggie has 30 points while Central has 13.  This shows that coaches are not very objective.  Polls are meaningless.  All the teams in the top positions just have to continue to take care of their own business.  If they don't they won't be in the race very much longer.   :)

Dutchfan2004,
I couldn't agree with you more.  Who cares that Coe is in the top 25.  The only reason I pay attention to the rankings is so I can get my fellow alums interested in the team, and maybe even get them to show up to a game or two.  Coe doesn't have a loyal alumni fan base like it seems Central does.  So, being in the poll is cool and all but, if we lose to B.V. next week what will it matter that we are twentyfifth this week.  The pool excites the alums and that is about all it's use.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I love the emergence of Kohawk faithful on the board. I encourage the newcomers to represent their alma mater in the most positive light. The team thrives on your enthusiasm and support. Inflamatory boasting serves no good purpose for yourself or the guys on the field. As we cheer the Kohawks to victory, let's do it right. Dutchfan1 is the model to follow. She's classy, literate, knowledgable and fun. It is just a game after all.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Walston Hoover

Did you guys see Northwestern is playing a doubleheader on Saturday?
I don't care how easy the game is supposed to be, can you imagine how exhaustiing that would be to play 2 games in a day?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the freshman reciever for Loras, McMahon.  Looks like he is leading the team with 3 TDs and over 200 yards.  From what i hear he broke all the recieving records for Waterloo Columbus last year, with over 2,000 yards, which also put him on the top of the list for all classes of Iowa high school recievers.

IowaGrad - That kid is a stud.

(Correction) WH - I'm very excited to see how those games turn out.  I wouldn't be surprised if NW went 2-0 on the day.

lorbec47

Iowagrad--The McMahon kid has ridiculous speed. A definite deep-threat everytime he is on the field. The passing game struggled against BV, and Central, but the McMahon kid was open several times because coverage couldn't keep up. He'll make some big-time plays before he leaves Loras.

Pat Coleman

I wouldn't be surprised. Did you see who they're playing?
