Also, your quoted text is referring to your argument against hearsay.  That was not a comment about your witty sitcom, cartoon or book titles.  Idiot.

WH, SK... I guess the critics are too many on the board, and since you 2 are too good of guys to throw your sources on the tracks, you might as well not comment on hearsay around this message board.  We all know that a great journalist for a publication like the Gazette would never keep the identity of a source secret for the protection of said source, so you aren't going to win.

All I am saying is that the only way they can justify themselves as "credible" is to back themselves up! Its not like its life or death if their super secretive Knight sources are leaked. Not that I really care either...

Well, I for one hope that Simpson leaves their foul mouthed women home and that their coach is caught on video shaking hands nicely after the game. I'd hate to go through this again next week.

No foul mouthed Simpson women will be at the game.  I'll be there but I don't talk that way!   :)  Trust me when I say that Niemann will shake hands regardless of the outcome - despite how I feel about him as a coach, he is a nice guy, shows a lot of class and would never leave the field without shaking hands with an opposing coach.  (He's had some experience doing that after a tough loss the past few years  :-[)

Yes, there are some "silent" Storm fans lingering around this board....

+k welcome to the board.  the more the merrier.

Have there been any Loras fans on here lately?  I know I saw Lorbec posted a few times, but he sounds like he is back on the Spartan side of this rivalry (brother graduated from Loras this last spring?).

How much does Dubuque and Loras actually compete for the same recruits?

How do the Loras and B.V. fans think about Coach Osterberger and the Beaver and Duhawk programs two years into the switch?

Thanks.

In response to Floyd in Iowa City -

As a former player of Coach O - he is a great coach and motivator but there is only so much that coaches can do for a team.  The players need to be able to step up and do their part as well.  I'm sure that he along with the Loras team and fans have to be pounding themselves in the head after last week's comeback by the beavers.

The beavers head coach Jay Anderson is also another good coach and is well respected by the players and beaver supporters.  The recruiting needs to be at the top of his list for next year and will be vital for the program with the loss of this year's senior class.

Maybe this can lead to some other discussion besides the Coe - Wartburg dispute has been going on far to long.  Congrats to the Knights on the win - You are the better team now move on to a different topic.

West Regional Rankings out, I think they hit the nail on the head as far as who belongs where although things will change for sure with Wartburg hanging precariously on at 8. If they beat Central I would maybe expect them to move up a spot depending on if Bethel beats SJU or not! A lot to be determined yet!! :)

West
1.  Wisconsin-Whitewater  6-0  6-1
2.  St. John's (Minnesota)  7-0  8-0

4.  Occidental  6-0  6-0
5.  St. Norbert  7-0  8-0

I'm working on one.  It is about a bunch of overweight has beens who argue in a chat room about which of their old college teams is currently dominating their former conference.   :P  I'll probably never get it made, because I refuse to give Walston a royalty check.

Now just a...I say, just a cornpickin' minute there!  I ain't that overweight!

Because its UD vs. Loras this Saturday ... do you throw out the record books for such a cross-town rivalry and get ready for one hell-of-a-football game?  How will (1) last Saturdays loss to Central and (2) this Saturday's Homecoming affect the outcome?

As a side note, I was back at UD teaching in the late 60's and early 70's when UD - Loras athletic competition resumed ... starting with basketball.  Those were some pretty intense games.  The story (probably apocryphal) was in the late 50's at a UD - Loras wrestling match ... in a very tight, heavyweight class match, the Loras wrestler somehow managed the grab the back of the UD wrestler's jockstrap and snap it.  The UD wrestler then responded equally inappropriately and that set off all the fans in the stands with a "riot" ensuing.  Athletic competiton between the two schools was suspended for more than a decade.

The Iowa Conference in those days included Parsons College, Iowa Wesleyan, and Upper Iowa, but not Coe, Cornell, or Loras.

All that from the "For What It's Worth" Department.

The DBQ is way better than Loras this year.  The Rams had a chance against Loras and no chance against the Spartans.  The Duhawk defense is not that imposing with or without Hall.

Feel free to throw out an actual fact anytime.  I am tired of references like, certain women close to Coe, or stories I've heard about the coaches.  Tell us who, what, where, when.  Until then I say, whatever, nevermind.

Secondly, I was standing along the "exit" that Coe was led through at halftime.  I didn't see anything happening before the team was led out, save for some Wartburg athletic staffers moving Knights fans out of the way so the Coe kids could get through.  But when Coe made it out of the area, I saw a woman wearing a bunch of Coe gear talking to one of the Wartburg staffers.  I didn't recognize her, and the conversation didn't look very heated, but I may have been catching the back end of it.  She did seem pretty frustrated when she walked away, but I just assumed that was due to the way Coe was playing at that playing.
What I posted I saw with my own eyes.  Sorry if that isn't your idea of an "actual fact."

I'm pretty sure I saw Dillon look cross-eyed at the Northwestern coach when the sprinklers came on...

Whatever happened to the witty reparte'?

Though I kinda sure that W-H dissed the Rams when he said that Coe would forever be associated with us. ;)

BTW - how do the Dutch get the Nike Logo on their wooden clogs?  Do they use a wood burning set or a screen printing process?

My opinion...Oxy and Redlands are bit overrated...Linfield and Bethel is better than either.  Oxy's record has one good team on it...Redlands.  Redlands beat a good Whitworth squad, but could not beat Oxy, which barely survived Claremont-Mudd.

I'd put Oxy at 10 and Redlands may not even be better than St. Olaf's.

Oxy is a little like the Central of the SCIAC...They keep winning but no one seems to give them too much credit lately...then they lose in the first round.

Oxy is good...just not as good as in the past two years...they were seemingly ripe until the upheaval at Cal Lutheran.  Redlands is improved but can't get over the hump.  SCIAC teams seem reticent to schedule the NWC top teams...with the exception of Redlands.  Oxy likes to play Menlo and Louise and Clark.

Heys I also saw that remark that W-H made. C'mon Walston leave us out of it  :)

Oh and by the way I hear the Dutch use a wood burning set.
I've also been wondering what kind of wood they use?

Seriously though I would hope that no coach in this conference would pull something like what Raeburn has supposedly done. Do I think Raeburn would pull something like that? I don't know, I have heard he is kind of a baby but from the couple times I have talked to him I don't see him doing something like that. I don't think a person would have a reason either to just come on here and make something like that up.

Good to here of you heys, I trust all is well. We could have used your calming demeaner around her lately. When you last visited, we were talking about EVIL EMPIRES. It' digressed a little since then, with the name calling and naughty words and not playing nicely, its more like THE EVIL BARBIE PLAYHOUSE.

coocoo,

See I can spot talent.  Have you ever thought of writing a sit com.  I bet you could come up with some good stuff.

I'm just giving the people what they want.  Amen.  Can I get a witness, Hallelujah.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

If you all want to sit around and sing Kumbyah (or however its spelled) we can go ahead and do that too. That's boring to me. I like a little fierce competition.
There's only been a little namecalling. I can live with being called overweight since I grew up with the nickname Tubby. I'm just happy to only be considered overweight now and not obese anymore.
As for any shots anyone wants to take at me, feel free. I'm on a supposedly anonymous internet message board. I can take it.   ;D
