I love coming here to see the posts.  The support you all give your teams is great.  Supporting your team is the way it should be.  Dow Jones I think you are great.  The Wartburg faithful are fun too.  It is great to get out and support your teams and I encourage it.  Without our support the teams would not perform as well as they do.  Good luck to all IIAC teams tommorow and I hope we do not lose any more players.  Hope the kid from Luther heals up and isnt hurt to seriously.

Warthog, you bring up an interesting point -- Wartburg travels well. Central travels well. I know that Simpson generally brings quite a few fans to Pella, but I don't know about most other teams. Which teams do you think bring the most fans to the games? Fan support is so important -- I wonder if some teams wouldn't be benefitted by the 12th Man.....

I have noticed since I have been following the Dutch that they do travel well.  I know Wartburg travels pretty well, but I do not know of any other team travels as well as the Dutch.  Up years and down years they bring the fans.  The crowd at Luther was great last year.  Will Luther travel as well to Pella this year?

I would almost say that Luther and Wartburg travel better then Central. These guys go everywhere.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Lance Harbor

Wartburg 29
Dubuque 15

FINAL

Wartburg led 29-0 at half and was pretty much dominated in the 2nd half.

Jaegerbomb

Luther wins homecoming in a close one.  Sherden sits out but Llamos runs well in the 2nd half.  Credit the Norse defense in playing well and stopping a solid offensive Storm team.

Coe beat BV 45-14 and it was not as close as the score indicates...Nice game for Coe.

Wart Trainer, you were right, Sherden was shut down.   :)

Congrats to Luther for a big win without Sherden.  Coe was a larger victory than I expected and no surprise for Wartburg.  The Dutch played well and alot of young Dutch got into their first game.  The game was 35-0 when half way through the 3rd quarter the reserves started to get playing time.  The young dutch played pretty well.  Hope the Dutch can keep it going this weekend against the Norse.  GO Dutch

Dubuque, the self described fastest team in the IIAC had another tough day.  Homecoming was over by half-time. ;)

There appears to be a shimmer of life in the Spartans.  Perhaps they will be back in the hunt in a year or two.  A loss is a loss, but it seems Dubuque is losing closer than they have in the past.  I assume they will give the coaching staff more time.  They have made some in roads recruiting western Illinois and eastern Iowa.

Dubuque has one thing going for them.  They definately are no longer the worst team in the league.  That honor goes to the Rams of Cornell.  Go figure.  I remember the MWC days when Coe and Cornell appeared to be equals.  What happened? ??? They've gone separate directions since moving up to the IIAC.

I'm not sure who they will beat, but I'll now mark down the Dubuque Spartans for two conference wins this year.  Unfortunately there is no such thing as home field advantage at Chalmers Field.  There just doesn't seem to be any support for their athletic programs.  It seems as if there is no connection between the athletes and the student body, faculty, alumni or local community.  U of D has to go on the road to play in front of a decent crowd.

So of course their first win will come when the Spartans rock Cornell next weekend in front of a big homecoming crowd at Mount Vernon.   If BV goes into the dumper, the Spartans might catch  them off guard and make the Beavers the second victim out on the frozen November tundra in Storm Lake.  If not BV the second win could come when they beat Loras to end the season.  That would send spurrier and the rest of the Spartan Nation into euphoria.

Cheer up Spartan faithful.  Better days are ahead.

Live from the D, its your boy Ty Greze. I am sad to say... that I witnessed the Spartans shoot themselves in the foot 1st and goal from the 1 and lose what could have been the greastest comeback in the history of this storied university football history. Everyone on the team knows this was their game for the taking ( even with a lot of questionable flags and bougs spots in key situations of the game, buts thats a whole different story ???.)  Better days r ahead, but we live 4 2day and we know we gave these guys a game they didnt deserve >:(.  3 missed FGs, 0-3 inside the 10 yard line in second half and lose 29-15. With that said I'm out to enjoy the rest of homecoming night with the many of thousands that packed the house on haunted hill for a night that can only get better! If U were there, I was the guy with army pants and Sox hat super fly fresh 2 Def 8).
P.S the Henny iz still flowin >:(

How exciting is next weeks Coe vs. Wartburg game.  Now I'm not saying this is going to decide who wins the conference, but it will decide if Coe wins the conference or not.   Coe is vulnerable in this game without a doubt.  If Wartburg wins it will make the rest of the season a bunch more interesting.  Win or lose I hope for a good game.

Dow- Wartburg has always been a bend but don't break Defense. With the Offense that UD runs there's going to be a lot of yards gained within the 20's but its going to be tough to punch it in in the redzone. I never felt the game was in doubt, I could tell the Spartans were starting to believe midway through the 3rd quarter, Our punt team has a lot of work to do and has been exposed multiple times this year, but when the Knights got up 29-0, I felt like they shut it down. Its a good thing we weren't running 40s against you, that would have been a different story, except for a couple of those near-400 lb linemen. I'm not sure what you're talking about bogus flags. There were about 3 questionable calls, 1. Duchman appeared to make the catch for the first down even though it was bobbled and several UD fans I talked to thought the same.
2. The UD receiver who was bobbling the football and then got hit that they ruled a fumble. I didn't think he actually caught the ball.
3. Wartburg mysteriously goes from 4th and inches and the end of the 3rd quarter to 4th and almost 2 at the beginning of the second quarter.

Now, about next week. I always dread playing the Kohawks. I think this has been the game of the year in the conference since2000 when Wartburg snuck out of Cedar Rapids with the win. Coe always has a good game plan and is starting to have the athletes to make it work on a consistent basis. All the matchups have actually been a game late into the 4th quarter.
I think this will decide who wins the conference.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships
