To me, a new building does not make a better program. It's a nice touch, but placement rates speak a little higher to me. I can't be convinced BV has ANY program that is the best in Iowa, new building or not.
Maybe D3 men's basketball.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

LOL, providing a link to US news ranking proves nothing. BV is ranked in a DIFFERENT, LOWER, category than Luther, Simpson, Coe, Wartburg and Central. So, yes, they are 12th in THAT category. The others are in the higher category of colleges like Grinnell, Carlton, etc- the best in the nation. Whoever posted that link is just misinformed. It is apples and oranges is all.

IF you want facts, according to the top college stat site, Petersons:
11% of BV's students have BELOW an 18 ACT. That is more than one out of ten. As far as I know they have no real ACt cutoff- 15's can be accepted. 4% have above a 30 ACT. Median ACT is about a 22.

I am sure many of the IIAC schools are WELL above that, I won't look them all up for you, but I just looked Simpson up and it says 100% are 18 ACT or above (I would guess statisically that must be rounded from 99.5 or something?? Or maybe it really is 100%?)  30 and above ACT's comprise 9%. Median ACT is 25.

Wartburg is 96% 18 ACT and above and 6% above 30 ACT.
Central is 98% 18 ACT and above and 7% above 30.

BV is definitely a step lower in regards to academic profile than the majority of the IIAC. I hate to bring UD into this, but they admittedly are well below BV, with only 61% of their students have an 18 ACT or above. They don't report a number of over 30 ACTs...

That's just the facts, plain and simple. They are hurting for enrollment and consistently lowering their standards to make up for it. It's sad but true. Sorry. I have said it before, I'm not saying you can't go there and get a degree and get a nice job- I'm just backing up what I said before- it is a lower academic makeup than the others.

Storm...Nice work...I knew you could find the data....Good job my man.  BV is dying for enrollement.  3 years ago they had to many student.  The dorms were going 3 deep.  Now they have whole floors shut off.  The NAIA schools such as Morningside, Northwestern, and Brair Cliff are eating the western IA kids up.  They are giving football money and BV can not.  Plus the people in admin have played a role in this trying to up our standards and increase the academic rigor.  Tough times could be ahead in storm lake.  i saw the changes coming as I was heading out the door.  I do honestly believe that it is a good school and a good education.

30 ACT scores do not mean a hill of beans when you get out into the real work.  I seen the C+ student succeed and go further than any of my A student friends.  This isnt always the case obviously.

We can argue all day about this...I am sure I started this fire so I am putting it out.  You win...Simpson is more prestigous that BV academically...Lets hope the kids are putting it to good use once they become tax playing people of the world.

Go Storm

I am with Klop here.  To me it is what you make with your life and not the ACT scores of incoming freshmen.  Everybody knows UD doesn't have the best rep out there.  I had three roomates at UD.  The first has been director of finance for Tractor Supply, General Manager of Shop at Home Network, and is now in management at Dollar General.  My second roomate is the Executive Director of the Ft. Wayne Airport.  My third roomate the last I knew...which was about 7 years ago worked for a software company that sent him around the world...he had just got back from six months in Rome the last time we talked.  That's 3 for 3 that have been very successfull.  Now me on the other hand...not so much ;D but I don't do horrible.

OK, end of rant.  Back to football.  Go Spartans this weekend!!!

If you read both of my posts, you'll see that I said all along you can get a decent edu AND job, regardless of the academic profile. My originally pust just said that BV was falling behind on the profile part. Anyway, enough said. On to football.

So, does anyone else think Simpson can win out to be .500? Or maybe i should say, does anyone else care!  ;)

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
