Mabey they should have suspended him right after it happend.
Then a one game suspention might have ended the whole thing.

Yordi NEWS

"In agreement with and support of the statement issued last Friday by President Ohle regarding expectations of student conduct, Head Football Coach Eric Koehler and the Athletics Department have conducted an internal review into allegations of misconduct by a student-athlete.  As a result of the internal review, the student-athlete has been suspended from competition.  His suspension will remain under review and is in addition to other confidential actions taken by the Student Life staff regarding his conduct.

Good for Wartburg.

Ouch....and going into the Central game next weekend. This is better timing than I expected. ;)

It would be unfortunate for him to miss the game, but you have to be held responsible for your actions...Kudos to Wartburg for disciplining him.  Yordi made a bad decision and it could cost his team.

To be continued...

Absolutely...nip it in the butt, as they say. +k for the point, digger  :)

My personal opinion (not that it matters).
More than a one game suspention is really more punishment than the crime deserves.

We never did find out the severity of his comments, and I doubt we will.  Was this a 1 time passing comment?, or part of a longer action directed at the other student, or part of a larger undertone promoted by athletes.....or specifically fb players......of which Yordi became the ideal candidate to scapegoat.  I know of at least 2 other IIAC campus's that have a similar prevailing attitude that actually affects the # of students that attend games or matches.  If it was a passing or one-time comment...a 1 game suspension should do it...along with whatever PC sensitive classes needed.  I think it would be a shame to keep Yordi out  of the Central game if it was just a one-time thing.  I would still pick Central to win but who knows.

just checked the bulk mail folder and I Got them doolittle-
QUestion-I've had Orlando Walton Nominated as a Corner, a Safety, and a linebacker. Which position does he play?

He is listed as a linebacker and that is where he was playing when I saw them play against Cornell.  He plays a lot of coverage because of his speed.  It's almost a combination of LB and safety.  I would not say he plays corner.

Now that it became public I think Wartburg is almost forced to implement some kind of punishment on Yordi.  I am sure there will be some conspiracy theorists out there that notice the convenience of his suspention right before the Cornell game and their 18 game conference losing streak.

If you read both of my posts, you'll see that I said all along you can get a decent edu AND job, regardless of the academic profile. My originally pust just said that BV was falling behind on the profile part. Anyway, enough said. On to football.

So, does anyone else think Simpson can win out to be .500? Or maybe i should say, does anyone else care!  ;)

Sorry if I misinterpreted you post.  It was very late and my insomnia carried me over to the computer to look at things with obviously blurry eyes.

I care if Simpson wins depending on how I picked them to do in the Pick-ems!!! ;D

if Wartburg loses to Cornell, and then to Central...Yordi has not only hurt his team but the conference b/c wartburg will surely not get to the playoffs.

Tough call. If the story I initially heard was true, then I think even 1 game is a pretty harsh punishment. However this "release" says there was an internal review that took place so I wonder if they found something else?
On the surface, it definitely sounds like he is being made an example of.
This game vs Cornell is meaningless as far as Wartburg making the playoffs goes.
I'm convinced that there's no way Wartburg goes unless they are conf. Champs.
That means everything hinges on the Central game in 2 weeks.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

digger

Also just my opinion....  but he is only what 18 or 19 yrs old.
Kids do dumb things I know. But they are still just kids.  punish him and be done.
In the long run everyone will be better served once it is all done.
To punish him to severly will bring ill feelings out that probably would not
come out with a just punishment.

But could an 8-2 Dubuque make the playoffs if Wartburg goes 7-3???

I think Wartburg would need to win out as the only chance for the IIAC to send two teams.  Wartburg as conference champs and a 9-1 Central I believe would both make it in.  But a 10-0 Central and an 8-2 Wartburg I think would mean Wartburg stays home.  But maybe not.

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to notice the convenience of a suspension that comes three weeks after the arrest yet before the matter has made it through court. You can't have it both ways. Either act quickly or wait until the legal process is completed.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

W-H I guess I was going on the most recent Region ranking.

West Region
No. Name In-Region Overall
1. UW-Whitewater 7-0 7-1
2. St. John's 8-0 9-0
3. Central 8-0 9-0
4. St. Norbert 8-0 9-0
5. Bethel 7-1 7-1
6. Wartburg 8-1 8-1
7. Linfield 4-1 5-2
8. Occidental 6-1 6-1
9. Redlands 6-1 7-1
10. Whitworth 6-1 6-2

If Wartburg won Cornell and lost Central...8-2 and 7-1

teams 7-10 in the region have either games against each other or with opponents above them in their conference.  Whitworth could win out but loss to Redlands might be enough to keep them out.  If Linfield wins out a 7-2 record gets them in b/c of their schedule.  Oxy's lose to conference leader Cal Luthern may keep them out no matter what.  If the top 8 in each region is taken it seems that Wartburgs only detractor is the Auggie lose.  I am no expert but from an untrained eye...it would seem that Wartburg could still get in with a lose at Central but a win at Cornell.  Any explanation would be helpful.
