A couple of other spots in Waverly. The East Bremer Diner is about 3 blocks on the other side of the river. A full menu with steak, chicken, pizza and sandwiches.

The other is on business 218 south (towards Wal-mart/Applebee's) is Pablo's NOW with Margareta bar.

Also Pizza Ranch has just been remodeled and are a supporter of Knights Sports.  218/3 West

Bon appetite

The OP is one of my regular stops in Waverly -- I can tell you that the service is even better if you are not wearing Red and White (or at least have an Orange and Black escort.) Joe's Knight Hawk is a fun stop, too.

Warthog, I'm planning on stopping by your tailgate -- would you like me to bring anything to contribute? Something red, of course....

Go Dutch!

W-H,
You can go to Texas Roadhouse in DSM, but if you do in CF, it's moved east of the mall. We'll probably be at the Goat celebrating another win after the game. We may not make the tailgate before because the daughter has batting practice Saturday morning.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Walston Hoover

No one goes to the one in DSM anymore, the line is too long.  ;)

You sound like Yogi Berra"It's so crowded, no one goes there anymore."

Not if you go during the week or at about 3:00. Kind of like the Outback.

Quick question about the OP in Waverly, is it still more of a restaurant with a couple of TVs or more of a sports bar (similar to the OPs in Kansas City)?

Walston Hoover

There's not a spot in the place that you can't see a TV from, but I would classify it more as a restaurant with TVs.
I go for the free cups.
Tip-Always order water with whatever drink you get.

IF Wartburg wins, I would go above and beyond the usual celebratory haunt.  Wartburg hasn't beat Central since 2003 in Waverly......so it doesn't happen every year!  And the 7 or so Wartburg seniors haven't witnessed a win since their freshman year.

Walston Hoover

WHen you say since 2003 it makes it sound like such a long time when in reality there's only been 1 win by Central in Waverly since 1999.
I'm doing my best at SID spin.

Since some have asked about restaurants in Waverly, the best is the Brandenburg in downtown Waverly (two blocks east of the theater on the north side of Bremer Avenue).  They feature some of the finest German food you'll find anywhere in the country, and the prices are very reasonable.

Busch Light

Any Wartburg people.....what is the Fainting Goat like after games?

Yes, but it sounds better (for the Dutch) to state "since 2003."

I would echo your sentiments, Martin is an amazing chef!

Central has run the same type of punt block formation for a while now, its just executed so well that noone can seem to stop it. The same will continue for Wartburg on Saturday as the Knights are not as dedicated to special teams as the Dutch are and they play a big role in the victory! WH is trying to make himself feel better with this talk of winning without 2 of his best players on the field but I wouldnt be surprised to see one if not both out there.

I only remember that game in 05 as being nice out. :) It wasnt as close as the score indicated however. Wartburgs 1st offense scored on our 2nd defense late in the game. Duchman from Hoskins I believe was the pass.

Central has won every tight game theyve played in this year and last (minus SJU). Wartburg has been in one really tight game this year...outcome?? Loss!! Might as well chalk up another L on Saturday for the Knights, that is unless Schuring and Connell bust loose, which I wouldnt be surprised to see either, then they wont have to worry about losing a close one!

Edit: As long as were talking about history a page or two back. Central has 16 IIAC Championships in the last 23 years. Thats more than the 'burg in their IIAC history.
30 IIAC Championships
20 Division III Playoff Appearances

Airborne Dutch

DutchHawk, it was more like the third team defense. For God sakes, I was out there  ;D
