Its all good. I did get my one shot at glory because on the PAT try the kicker shanked it because yours truly came screaming off the edge. That was the highwater mark of my success in college football.  :D

I've been gone for a bit....but will comment on what Warthaod called the "good-bad city" conversation.

In defense of Decorah, it is not as isolated or out of it as some have said.  Great little town and only an hour from LaCrosse WI....a "live college town".  It is also only 2 hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul which makes Des Moines  and CR look like podunkville.  Look north my friends.

Also I remember, as a student, driving to Chicago to go the the Blue Note and making it back for the 8AM class the next morning.  Remember, there are more states than Iowa.

Wartburg/Loras was a 1 score game. I'd classify that as close.
The Luther and UD game were in question until the 4th quarter when the Knights pulled away.

You are correct, the Loras game was close, however I wouldnt say the Luther game was, although one could argue it should have been closer if the Norse had not made so many turnovers, but that is part of the game, it was as much giving them away as it was Wartburg taking them.

Thanks for all the good restaurant ideas, that'll surely help me out.  As far as the O.P., is the one in Waverly much like the one in Cedar Falls?  I've been to the one in CF a few times but was wondering about the one in Waverly.  Thanks again.

Not quite as nice of place, but the food is the same.
Suckow is hobbling around campus with a noticeable limp today.
Phelan taking all reps at practice.

With Yordi and Suckow gone it will make the Knights job harder but not impossible. Phelan proved to be ready to play and several people can cover for Suckow like Weber, Duchman, and Van Rees. Also, the fact about losing players and being against the wall a bit can raise the game of the rest. I can't wait for Saturday!

With the Knights D, they will have a chance regardless of who plays.......but I'm not sure if the game against Cornell is a real barometer for how players will fair against the Dutch.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the Dutch play at a different level than Cornell.

Central has run the same type of punt block formation for a while now, its just executed so well that noone can seem to stop it. The same will continue for Wartburg on Saturday as the Knights are not as dedicated to special teams as the Dutch are and they play a big role in the victory! WH is trying to make himself feel better with this talk of winning without 2 of his best players on the field but I wouldnt be surprised to see one if not both out there.

I only remember that game in 05 as being nice out. :) It wasnt as close as the score indicated however. Wartburgs 1st offense scored on our 2nd defense late in the game. Duchman from Hoskins I believe was the pass.

Central has won every tight game theyve played in this year and last (minus SJU). Wartburg has been in one really tight game this year...outcome?? Loss!! Might as well chalk up another L on Saturday for the Knights, that is unless Schuring and Connell bust loose, which I wouldnt be surprised to see either, then they wont have to worry about losing a close one!

Edit: As long as were talking about history a page or two back. Central has 16 IIAC Championships in the last 23 years. Thats more than the 'burg in their IIAC history.
Vinzant score two touchdowns in 05 , 1in the first half and 1in the 2nd Half. Duchman didn't score in that game

And if drive the back country roads you can hit up Little Miami for a quick beer and some food before hitting up quite the night life in La Crosse.  During the week $5 can get you AYCD specials and on the weekends every bar has (or should have) decent specials on whatever drink they specialize in.  You can bring a $20 and definitely make it worth your while.

Decorah isn't too shabby of a place all by itself.  Lot's of different places to eat and grab a drink, each with a different kind of atmosphere.

Three blocked punts in nine games this season is pretty far from no one being able to stop it.
