Wow the Storm didn't load their schedule at all did they?  One or the other is not bad but both is a pretty weak schedule IMO.

Does Wartburg get in over Eau Claire (are they Pool c?) at 8-2 if Central game is the first game of the year rather than the last?

NO!

Why didn't you just take care of business and beat Augsburg, that is the real question. Beat Augsburg and you take UW-Eau Claire's spot.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I think scheduling Grandview is a nice bone to throw out.  A probable win and you are playing for potential recruits in the Des Moines area.  And always nice to help out a team in your near area.  As far as Northwestern...we don't really know just how hard it is to schedule opponants...who is willing to play you and what not.  Plus, if you feel like you are headed south in the win column, scheduling some soft opponants isn't always a bad idea!!!

I agree with the Grandview point,  They could also be a potential IIAC team in the future as well so no problem with that choice.  But to schedule two weak games says you are kind of giving up on a playoff bid IMO.  The AQ will be the only thing you play for with a weak SOS.  A second place at 9-1 with that non conference schedule will not cut it.  I guess that is what I was thinking about.  One soft game is not bad but two affects the SOS I think.

Or we could just lose 3 games early on and be out of the race all season long. Take a page out of the Coe playbook and and save the heartache altogether.

Congratulations to the Dutch on another championship. I think this year it is put up or shut up time to make some noise nationally for Central and for the league. Listened to the whole game and thought the radio coverage from Pella was excellent.
Are all the head coaches safe? I had heard some rumblings from Indianola and wondered if anyone else was feeling the flames.

How are you supposed to act???  Are you kidding me?!?

Here's some HOW TO ACT AFTER LOSING 101:
Wartburg is a very, very tough team. But if you don't know how to act after a loss, then you don't deserve to win a single game until you learn how to handle a loss. You don't come on the boards and bash the teams you lost to and say that they are just lucky and the refs blew the game for you. YOU ACT LIKE MEN. MEN PLAY FOOTBALL. Instead of spending your time downtrodding the teams that you lost to, maybe encourage your kid and his football buddies to hit the weights. Focus on their technique. Do some running. GET READY FOR NEXT SEASON. That's how you act.

P.S. I think I have a little experience in this area after being on a team in high school that went from 0-9 freshman year to 8-3 senior year including a 1 point loss in state quarterfinals to the eventual state champions.

Now I take offense to this statement. My son went to Wartburg and in the 4 years he was on the team  they all worked their ass off. I don't believe for a minute that central is the only team in the IIAC that works hard in the off season. What a insult to every Kid in the conference. Also I know Footballdaddy personally and I know how tough a decision it was for his son to chose between central and wartburg. He is a very good friend and If we act so bad after a defeat, I will take that over then of holly then thou attitude from some the Central fan. Please leave are Kids out of this.

BTW- Good luck to the Dutch in the playoffs- I won't go as far to say I'll be pulling for you guys, but I won't lose sleep over a couple wins. Lets just say the fate of the IIAC getting a 1 seed for the next 6-8 years rests in you winning AT LEAST 2, possibly 3 games. I think Wartburg was the last IIAC team to get a 1 seed (1999) and Pacific Lutheran promptly ended that in Round 2. I don't know that there;s been a 1 seed since then with, if memory serves me correctly, 3 undefeated teams (Central 00, Wartburg "03, Central '06)

That's awesome. You'll be able to share that with the barkeep at your local watering hole for years to come. No one here gives a rip.

Question---
A little "what if" but a lot more "what happens if"

What happens if Wartburg and Central play earlier on in the year? Does it give the loser a better chance at getting in if they win out.
Say this year for instance- Does Wartburg get in if the loss comes earlier and we're talking about winning their last 4 or 5. I know there's a lot of hype, but I gotta believe after the winner of this game winning the conference title the last 10 years, people are going to pay attention anyway.
Does Wartburg get in over Eau Claire (are they Pool c?) at 8-2 if Central game is the first game of the year rather than the last?
I think picking the seven pool C spots is a lot like the BCS and it is easier to recover from an early loss. I think by most opinions, Whitworth would have been the next one in and probably should have been in before Eau Clare. Eau Clares non conference wins over Southwest Minn. St. 42-13 and 14-3 at Black Hills St. who is in the D-2 tournament, no doubt benefitted them.
