Shoes you are on fire today buddy.  The numbers don't lie.  The Dutch are reaching for straws, but let's be serious the juggernaut is rolling and are beginning to make Pella where Central goes to DIE each season.

DF1: Warning do not come to the Stiftungsfestivities if you want to talk football.  We only drink Hamm's, eat burgers, and talk smart.  Football talk is not the focus of the chatter.

EDIT: Looks like the Central posters are starting to resort to the "employment" jokes as the Johnnies are talking circles around them already and it is only Monday.

Coco: How is your couch?  Comfy?  Let's leave the Hamm's to the experts of the MIAC.  Thanks for playing.

TDT, let's put it this way.....I won't be anywhere near you on Saturday.

Wow, I bet I'm not the only girl you've ever heard that from...  :-*

Johnnies by a touchdown!

(And if you're a Johnnie fan, that's the last thing you want to read coming from oAs's computer.)

Can't wait for Dutch letters and a good excuse to get out of the family Thanksgiving environment in Des Moines!!

oAs.
Man o Manishevitz are we screwed. Good luck to Central in Round 3 ...

So DF2K and old school are from the same town!!!  I hadn't noticed that.  DF2K, be very proud of your son.  Central has a talented team but I think it was your sons leadership that pulled them through some tight spots this season.  I'm still not sure I can forgive him though for that final drive in regulation against UD this year.  They will be talking about that drive for a long long time.  That is of course unless Central makes it to the final four this year.  If our state had not gone to the dreaded district format for football I would have been able to see him play in high school.  We live in La Porte so we are old high school conference rivals.

Here is to a good game saturday and I hope the Dutch win the game.

Being old school I remember LaPorte city well.  Not sure we played in football but I can remember basketball games and Tennis meets.  Graduated in 97 if thats around your class at all.  I've watched most of Connell's high school games and most of his starts in college

Has anyone heard names for the Simpson or Luther job?

old school, you rattle off all those predicted stats like SJU is just another "same as always" team. This isn't Wartburg or Coe or BV coming to Pella (obviously). This is the team that ended Central's perfect season last year. The last time SJU gave up 35 points and lost was 2002 at Trinity, TX in the National Semis. Yes, St. Thomas dropped 34 on us this year, but we threw in 51 for s**** and giggles. When UWW beat us badly in 2005, we still "held" them to 34. There's no way whatsoever that this week's game turns into a shootout and SJU loses. No way.

There is always a way....maybe slim chance but anything is possible.  Glad you brought up your brother Tommies.  only common team this year you gave up 34...we gave up 10 and that was on our JV'ers at the end of the game.  Good luck.

You know as well as anyone that all the rules go out the window in rivalry games. But hey, you only scored 35 on a team we topped 50 against.

You and Augsburg both held Wartburg to two TDs. I guess that means your defense is only as good as Augsburg's. Augsburg held us to 62.
Nice day, huh?

Now you throw in another team?  Thats a 4 team comparison not a three.  As you stated about a rivalry game anything can happen.  So having not played Augsburg there is no common thread.  So there is nothing to be taken from that team.  You Johnnies go for long stretches don't you.

I wasn't trying to prove anything except that all these comparisons are hogwash. You holding UST to 10 in week 1 and us giving up 34 in week 9 is as valid a comparison as you and Augsburg both holding Wartburg to two TDs. Clearly, you and Auggie aren't on the same level and those games can't be used to gauge the relative strength of those two teams. Similarly, our respective UST games doesn't define our relative strength.

The most relevant comparison we can even think about using is SJU 21-Central 13 from 367 days ago, but even that doesn't work given graduations, injuries, and the forward pass making its way to Iowa.
Nice day, huh?

I am looking for a ride to Chicago after the SJU/Central game.  Ideally to Loyola University.  Or, a drop off anywhere on the Red line downtown or points north.

If this is possible, please send me a personal message.

Dsquared

My prediction (as I'll likely be away from an internet connection until after the game on Saturday)...

Dutch 13 - SJU 10.  Both defenses will cause the offenses to misfire, and Central puts together a nice drive to end the game with a FG.  One other bold prediction... Schuring gets in his groove FINALLY this year and puts up big numbers and is able to carry Central to a hard-fought victory.  Connell will be JUST effective enough (meaning it is a threat that he can always connect on a 15-20 yard pass play) that it'll leave running lanes open for Schuring.  140 yards rushing (including 45 or so on the last drive) + 1 score to lead the Dutch to victory.

Good luck all... I'll be interested to see if the Johnnies support the Dutch after this week when they are destined for a matchup with Bethel.

Well, for that to happen, Central would have to beat SJU and Bethel would have to beat UWEC,a nd I don't foresee either happening ;D

If it should happen, I'd stick with the red :-\
