Any other Dutch fans feel a bit like we are reliving Wartburg week?  Seems like a lot of the same old thing.  We don't match up, we don't have the stats, its going to be a long day for the Dutch, we have outscored the common opponents by a bigger margin, yada, yada, yada.

I have a ton of respect for both the WB and SJU football teams, but the fans just have to believe that their one loss team is better than our perfect record team.  I wasn't sure we would win at Wartburg and I don't know if we will beat St. John's, but I believe it our team, particularly if the game is close in score.

I saw Kofoed play last year and he was impressive.  When the heat is on, I'll take Connell, he is consistent from one game to the next.  The longer the game goes on, the better he plays.  None of this on one week, off the next stuff.

Having seen decades of playoff caliber football the one aspect that is necessary to compete for a national championship is a highly evolved passing attack.  Given Central is in the first year of developing a passing offense the edge goes to SJU.

Central has been throwing the ball for 3 years now fairly effectively, we have grown as Connell has grown as far as a passing game goes. So I dont know where this first year stuff came from, the new offense came in 4 years ago with Coach Mac.

We are a solid offense that can put up numbers with a defense that has proven it can stop people. The difference will be...as Ive said all year...Centrals far superior special teams.

I recall the game in 2000 when the Dutch were struggling to catch the Johnnies with their passing game.  I actually felt bad for the opposing team.  It was sad and embarrassing.

Wow...either you struggle at reading...or your math up in Johnnyville sucks. I said for the last 4 years our offense has changed from run oriented dating back to the Schipper day, to a more flexible and balanced run pass offense. As I said Coach McMartin, who put in a new more balanced offense that had much more passing in it came in 2004. This being his 4th year puts his 3rd in 2006, 2nd in 2005 and 1st in 2004.

Therefore the 2000 game when you dominated us in a 3 point win without a passing game falls outside the context with which I was speaking. Therefore your point carries no weight. Eitherway its not like you dominated that game so Im not following any of your posts on this page.

Hope your job doesnt rely on math or common sense Dusty.

DutchHawk;  Well, believe it or not I agree with you regarding your assessment of my prospects for employment.  Because I am indeed unemployed, math or common sense is not part of the equation.

My point about your lack of a passing attack has nothing to do with a dominating "3" point win by the Johnnies in 2000.  It didn't matter what the point differential was there was no way in Pella the Dutch were coming back in that game.  It was embarrassing watching your quarterback and wide receivers try to connect for a pass completion.  It was totally foreign to them.

If we would I would be scared in the fact that the vaunted Johnnie D gave up way more points to a weak St. Thomas team than the Dutch did, but alas, that argument holds no water.

Yeah, and you played the Tommies in week...what, like one, and we played them recently.  So, the Tommies improved more than you.  Is that your point?

Johnnies by too much for the Dutch!

Or else the Tommies got better and the Johnnies arent as good as advertised? Guess that would work too.

It would work, but it won't - because it's wrong.

The Johnnies are better than advertised.  We MIAC PPer's ride the team very hard.  Pain is coming - and be ready to have a bummer of a Sunday.  Maybe next year the NCAA committee can move Central to another bracket like they did this year with UWW.  Let you get away from us - have a chance of going on.

Do we need to get tickets Friday afternoon or will there be plenty available on Sat Morning?

If you want reserved seating you best get one Friday, but there will be lots of tickets available Sat.  Since The Dutch and #1 UNI are the only Iowa teams playing anymore I would hope lots of good fans will show up for this one.  All the Hawk fans may be crying in their beer over losing to a directional Michigan team but at least they got Floyd back this year.  I thnk its been well established that this should be a whale of a game and any good FB fans would love to see these two programs go at it.

Weather should be great, 43 degrees and sunny is projected and if the wind stays calm thats a great day for football.  We ordered up a few inches of snow just to make our Johnnie friends feel at home, talk about hospitality!

You all have a good turkey day, especially the players and coaches who are busy on campus prepping for the game.  Anyone know what the Thanksgiving plans are for the respective teams, will they all stay on campus and have a celebration together, whats the trend?  And before the northerners can tell us all, I admit to far fewer Thanksiving week practices than SJU for all the obvious reasons.  Still betting on a December game in Pella!

Airborne Dutch

I'm still here. Just trying to transition back from an assignment where I was working at night here (days back in IA). Now, I'm working days here (nights in IA) and getting prepped to take over a job that is about 4 levels above my paygrade. Anyway, I welcome all the posters from the MIAC board. Certainly makes Saturday a little bit more interesting. Contrary to what a lot of people are thinking, its not gonna be a blowout. I know both sides would like it for their team, but it just ain't gonna happen. Too much talent on either side of the ball to allow that too happen.

Wish I could be in town to enjoy the St.John's pregame traditions (I'm not gonna even attempt to spell your the S-Fest thing). Sounds like its gonna be a good time. Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on here. Here's to a good thanksgiving, great game, and rocket attack free weekend.

Does anyone know if the 2007 edition is out for this book?

I figured this would be the place to check.  ;)

"Let's Become Dutch for Dummies" is kind of oxy-moronic, isn't it?  Who would publish a "Let's Become Dutch for Smarties"?  Besides the Dutch Press, of course.

Here we go again, it's almost eight o'clock and nobody from Iowa is around...ah, hell, it's Thanksgiving, everyone's probably got better things to do...me, too.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  and LETS GO JOHNNIES!!!!  :) ;D 8) :-* (Just one time for you TC  Promise no more the rest of the week. :-*)

If the 2000 version of the Dutch did not keep their calm under pressure to pass, that is in the past.  The 2007 version does their best pass and catch work when the heat is on, just ask any of the 6 or 7 teams that we beat that way, including highly ranked Wartburg at the end of the season.  I guess the only teams that didn't see that were the teams from outside Iowa who couldn't hang with us long enough for it to be an issue.  I'm sure the Johnnies will save face for MN in that respect, but just don't expect us to crumble this year because the pressure is on.

Happy Thankgiving to all.  For those of you no longer playing, come over on Saturday to support the Dutch.  There should be plenty of room with the students on break.

So now losing 21-18 is sad and embarrassing just because we didn't run the same offense you did?  My goodness, Dr. Roe talks about how Central has Dutch disease in that they don't want to brag about themselves too much.  Clearly that is not a problem in Johnnieville.

When doesn't Central brag about themselves

In contrast to much of the banter and jibes that have filled this board (all in good fun) over the last week, Happy Thanksgiving to all on the IIAC board.  Safe travels for the holiday AND for the game.
