Hey AEN,

WCF Courier article on Powers Mftg. of Waterloo's role in producing the uniforms for yesterday's Army-Navy game:  http://www.wcfcourier.com/articles/2008/12/07/news/local/10820738.txt

Congratulations to Wartburg on a great playoff run.  You did the IIAC proud.  I really thought the level of play might have been going down overall in the IIAC with so much parity the past few years.  It always seemed that the dominating teams during the regular season were the ones that won in the playoffs.  Two straight years of 3rd round games prove that once again I was wrong.  It isn't the first time and I'm glad to see it.  I never mind being wrong in those circumstances.

Just think.  Cornell took Central to OT, Central beat BV, BV beat Wartburg, who went to the 3rd round of the playoffs and played a great game.  Look for ShowMe to be back and ready to go in the off season.   ::)

Good luck to UWW!  Keep the walnut and bronze in the West!

Looks like a Dubuque player is in a little trouble with the law:  http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=225345

A University of Dubuque football player was arrested early Friday after police say he tried to break into the campus bookstore.
Jermaine D. Carter, 18, of 200 University Ave. Room 119, was arrested on a charge of third-degree attempted burglary.

Carter wore #74 for the Spartans this season.  He's a 6-3, 345 pound O-lineman from St. Pete, FL.

Just wanted to post my congrats to the Warburg Knights and their fans.  They played an awesome game against the Hawks yesterday and earned much respect.  They showed major heart and had no quit in them.  Thought the weather played a big part and I was thankful we didn't have to go against your QB in warmer conditions and relieved that we weren't going into the wind in the 4th quarter.  Coldest, toughest tailgate I have been in and I have seen my share with the Hawks playing well into December for the last 4 years.  ;)  Congrats to your team for being one of the best in your programs history.  Good luck in 09.

I think I post this almost every year (I had to scroll back to Jan. of '07 to find the link), but its still pretty fun to think about.

Why Wartburg deserves to play Oklahoma in the BCS Championship Game:
Wartburg beat
Simpson who beat
Northwestern MN who beat
Malone who beat
Marian who beat
Valparaiso who beat
Davidson who beat
Jacksonville FL who beat
San Diego who beat
UC-Davis who beat
Portland St who beat
Eastern Washington who beat
Weber St who beat
Cal Poly SLO who beat
San Diego St who beat
UNLV who beat
Wyoming who beat
Tennessee who beat
Vanderbilt who beat
Mississippi who beat
Florida

Also, big props to us here on the IIAC board.  On this date two years ago, we were on page 275.  Now we're up to 1597.  That's 1322 pages in two years, or an average of 55 pages a month.  In other words (and if my math is right), we go through a full page of posts every 13 hours.

With the season now over for the IIAC.  I took a look at the last 3 seasons and what the seniors to be have accomplished and give them a look at what they need to do next year to reach any goals they may have before graduation.

IIAC records over the last 3 seasons.

Central 20-4 : 2 titles
Wartburg 20-4 : 1 title
Coe 14-10
BVU 13-11
Dubuque 11-13
Simpson 11-13
Loras 10-14
Luther 9-15
Cornell 0-24

Wow, you certainly took that a lot farther than it needed to go.
The website I go on is credits, and only credits We were all given 100,000 last year and play around with any games that there is a Vegas spread for. I posted credits because I meant credits. No money has ever changed hands. I wish I would have put money on games though. I am up over 3 million credits from the original 100k.
A couple years ago, we put spreads on the games here for our pick'ems and it added a lot of fun to them. I see nothing wrong with that.

WHoov: Perhaps you are not implying anything directly, and I am certainly not suggesting any implcations regarding how the game was/is/are played or officiated.  Of course not.  The implication I am suggesting is with the Vegas forum you mention.  I have been around this site for many years (well, whatever 1000+ posts amounts to) and around D3 sports longer than that.  This is the FIRST time I have ever seen or heard D3 sports mentioned in the same sentence along with the gambling terminology you "laid down" so comfortably.  Since I don't frequent those websites myself (and neither should any of you, boys and girls   :)), I guess that rattled me a little.

Is the Vegas Line one of the thread topics or categorical selections on this site?  Should Pat and Keith bring up the 24.5 spread that Wartburg covered during their next ATN podcast?  Is one of the advertisers of this site pokersuperstars.fillintheblank?  C'mon.  The week before "our game" I noticed ya'll posting about churches and the like.  Not to get too "preachy" here, but isn't the pure essence of D3, "sports for the sake of the sport" and not all of the other convoluted crap that we have to put up with in DI and the pros?

Again, this is not a personal attack but more an observation on apparently another layer of decay....evidently 2.5 million "points" worth.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

doolittledog

With one year left in the decade.  Here is how the conference shakes out.

Wartburg 64-12 : 4 titles
Central 61-15 : 6 titles

Coe 50-26 : 3 titles

Simpson 41-35
Buena Vista 40-36

Luther 33-43
Loras 32-44

Cornell 16-60
Dubuque 14-62

UIU 8-20
WPU 2-8

We have a battle for 1st place in wins between Wartburg and Central.

Central will win the championship title

Coe will take 3rd place

Simpson battles BV for 4th place

Luther and Loras battle 6th

Cornell and Dubuque will battle to stay out of last place...among active conference members!!!

Kind of hard to hide when you are that large.  I suspect we won't see Mr. Carter in a Spartan uniform next year.  Though, I suppose he could have been confused with another 6-3 345 pound guy.  Innocent until proven guilty!!!

Basketball time now and I see UDub beat the Knights right out of the chute.  I hope Wartburg lost because the Spartans have a good team this year.  I'd hate to think the 'burg was going to have two awful bball seasons in a row.

Congrats to Wartburg.  It was a hell of a game.  When it was 20-17 and you had all of the momentum I was really, really concerned.  Luckily we managed to answer the challenge and Rindahl's interception return sealed the deal.

I hope the Wartburg fan struck by the falling camera will be alright.  What a weird thing.  I'm glad the outcome wasn't more serious.

You guys have some great fans and really nice team.

Sorry to be overly analytical, Hoov.  Part of the Midwest Conference way, I guess.   ;)  I just cringe at the thought of Vegas having anything to do with DIII sports, or vice versa.  That's all.

p.s.  I hope purple heys didn't have too much of a hangover today.  That was quite an obnoxious string of posts after the bars closed last night/this morning.   ;D

Congrats to the Knights for an outstanding season. After watching the game with a couple of players not on the playoff squad, I can say that there is no "wait 'til  next year", because next year has already started. I'll miss this year's seniors. They had a lot of guts, and left it all on the field. Thay can leave with no regrets. as for the returners, enjoy a break; you deserve it. Get bigger, faster, and stronger as there are some big shoes to fill. Camp seems a long ime away, but it will be here before we know it. I'm looking forward to another successful season from the Knights.
