This ain't Iowa City. Wartburg women don't go to the bathroom with random strangers. Most of 'em at least.  WH Quote

I thought this was pretty good.  But I do have picture evidence of good friends have relations with Cyclone women in the parking lot of Jack Trice.  At least the Hawkeye women take their men to the bathroom ::)

I have been away from the computer for a week and a half now.  Its been quite a ride.  See below.

Went to Des Moines for Thanksgiving.
Left for Cedar Rapids on Friday for an engagement party.
Spent some time at the Irish Democrat.  Nice place.
Headed back to Chicago Saturday morning to head to Mexico.
Spent a week in the Riviera Maya drinking, eating, and smoking cuban cigars.  What a great trip.  On par with Jamaica.  We were there last year at this time.
The wife came down with two type of infections the last day we were there.  Ended up spening Saturday night and Sunday night in a hospital in Cancun.  She made it to the airport and then began throwing up all over.  It was a very intense few moments.

The police were all over us and the airlines would not let her on the plane.  For a while I was scared that we might be heading to Mexcan jail to see how far our rear ends stretch.  Sorry bad joke, but I have to make some light of the situation.

Using my broken Spanish and some large American bills, we got to a private hospital.  It was a great experience and they took really good care of her.  When I walked in there was a retired player from St. Louis Blues there with his wife as well.  He told me that all would be well and that the doctors were good.  Problem...You have to pay cash with order at this place.  You have to turn around and bill your insurance company and fight with them for reinbursement.  So a couple packs of Camel's later and some nervous moments, we got on the plane this morning and are back in Chicago.  Mind you people I do not make smoking a habit, that tells you where my emotions and where the situation was for a while.

I will make some suggestions to anyone who wants to read them.  Apple Vacations is the real deal.  They visited us in the hostipal and did not charge for missing the flight.  The reason is because Apple own USA 3000 airways and its a charter flight.  If we would have flow domestic it would have been a **** show trying to get another flight and not pay large fees.

I strongly suggest anyone who is a novice traveler booking with a company like Apple or use Apple directly.  When crap hits the fan they are right beside you helping you to traslate and make sure you are taken care of.  We did not use Apple last year on our trip to Jamaica.  Thinking back now I would not do it that way again.  If this would have happened in Jamica I might be scrubbing barnicales off the bottom of fishing boats!

Congrats to the Knights on the run they made.  Its nice to see the IIAC winning multiple games two years in a row.  Lets make this a standard for our conference.

The only disconcerning thing was to see that the fans might have acted inappropriately.  That sheds negative light on the IIAC.

End Note:  The book Boy Will be Boys is an outstanding reading choice for you football fans.  Its the true story of the Cowboys Dynasty in the 90's and how out of control everything was.  I read it in 3 days.  That is saying a lot for me.  I did manage to read two books while I was away which will hopefully help my English skills!

Let the Christmas season being!!!

I believe this made a Beaver Den shirt back during basketball season, or the idea was at least strongly kicked around.  Most of the shirts that we worn in the Beaver Den would be worthly of karma points!

Quick Question.  I spent my career with a hand in the dirt and not on the football, but looking at game pics from the Wartburg vs. UWW game I did notice something.

There are some pictures of Yordi throwing the ball without the seams.  Is this common practice for a QB?  I know there are all sorts of out there practices that get the job done, but I found this to be interesting.  If I new how to post the picture I would have.

Nice to have you guys back Klop.  Sounds like you had a good AND bad time all in one.  Good to see you can roll with the punches and still look back on the vacation with fond memories.

Who was the Blues player you ran into?

I haven't really followed hockey in about 15 years now.  I was born in St. Louis and we would go to 3 or 4 games a year.  We even bought Garry Ungers car after he got traded to Atlanta way back when.  I can only name old old school Blues players like Mike Liut and Bernie Federko now.

Yes it is.  I was there for a lunch last week.  Probably hadn't been there in 5 or 6 years, but it is still a great spot with a lot of character.  From what I hear, it has been doing great since the smoking ban went into effect.  Apparently it could get pretty thick in there before last July

I'm very jealous of this segment of your trip.  At the same time, I'm very to have not gone through the headaches you had to.

Seconded.  Just finished it over the weekend.  Jeff Perlman did a great job of weaving the entertaining off the field stories in with the contentious on the field/front office issues.  It didn't seem like he got a lot of help from Jimmy Johnson, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, or Mike Irvin (can't say I'm surprised they didn't want to comment on a lot of the stuff mentioned).  That said, he made very good use of quotes from newspapers and other reports from back in the day to get a first-person account of some of the things that went on.  Very good read all the way around.
