Hopefully he gets a head job somewhere and takes my brother with him so he can get a job that pays in green money rather than nickels.

Don't think this has been posted on here yet.  Congrats to the former Wartburg player.  Saw him and his family down in Monmouth cheering on the Knights.

Good to know Winona has at least one good coach.   ;D

Do you mean one good coach who used to play at Wartburg?  Cause I think Knightlife06 might be angry at that comment...of course he is probably too busy celebrating graduation right now to care.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Simpson now has their 2009 and 2010 schedules online.  Go to http://simpson.edu/storm/men/football/index.html and click on the like towards the bottom of the page.  The Storm have UW-Stout and Northwestern of Minnesota for their non-cons in '09.

Also, look for either the Luther or Simpson schedule in 2009 to change.  If you notice, both schools say they play at Wartburg on 10/31/09.  I wasn't aware the IIAC teams played split-squad games, although that would be a good way for the Knights to pick up an extra bye week! ;)

I will award the Illinois senate seat to one lucky poster who votes for my slogan.

What? I can't do that?

Nevermind.

For the IIAC Motto contest ...

There were some really good entries ... and predictably ... a couple of tasteless ones.

The finalists are:

Thunderbolt:  United we stand.  Divided we're still better than most.

dutchfan1:  We write the stories of the IIAC.

TheOne89.1:  (adapting a line in a great movie)  "Is this heaven.  No, its the Iowa Conference."

Footballdaddy:  IIAC:  We put the hyphen in student-athlete.

So ... which one do you vote for?  Cast your ballot on here and remember --

This is not Illinois politics ... so no bribes aand vote only once.

So I assume the we will beat you on the field and then you can beat us off was in the tasteless catagory?  Call me tasteless I thought it was damn funny!

Yesterday 5 inches of snow to deal with.  Today it is 5 degree temps.  I have been at work for a few hours now and my desktop weather bug has only gone up 1 degree.

Heys, you have any job openings where I can stay warm and away from snow?

Ohhhh...you may not like it out here...it's getting kinda cold, and we may get some rain this weekend.

Worst of all, the waves are pretty flat.   We're really struggling with all this bad weather, too.   8)

Did anyone see the article on ESPN about how McCoy, Bradford, and Timmy T from Florida were only players invited to this years Heisman Trophy Award Ceremony?  I guess Mike Leech is fuming over this one.  I have a hard time understanding how Herrel puts up more yards than any QB in the NCAA and beats McCoy and is not invited to Downtown Athletic Club.  What a joke.  Its all about the politics.  Thank goodness our lowley ;D d3 teams do not have to deal with this type of politicking on a daily basis.  Maybe Rod B was running a pay to play senario for the Heisman Trophy finalists!

We definitely had some smart ones on the team.

Yes, you did have a few brainiacs.  Between Little Warthog and three members of his wedding party there were four football/biology majors.  All four went on to advanced degrees.  Of course he also had a couple com. arts brothers from CB to balance things out.  ;)

few things:
I too took Football Theory with Coach Willils and managed a B+ I'm   pretty sure the whole concept of offensive line play was my downfall of not getting an A.  Come to think of it, we had a girl in the class and she did pretty well.

as far as the outdoor rec class, that's bunk that you younger cats were able to drink beer on the trip.
Coach Miller didn't allow it on our float trip.   ???    That would have made the trip 10x better
However, stopping at a Cardinals game on the way back, we made up for lost time.

Disappointed not to see S Jason Lansing on one of the All Region teams.  I don't have the time to look up all of their stats, but I can't imagine they were all that much better than his.  Since the SID's mostly have stats to judge off of, I figured he'd be on one.
Congrats to Vetter and rest of IIAC to make squads..

I too was surprised that Wartburg didn't have more on the three all region teams.  Having said that when you think about how many teams there are in the region and then how many spots there are I guess this is truly an honor to get on the team.  I don't know how they are selected but over such a large pool to choose from I don't think this is very political.

Cornell only put three on the IIAC All-Academic team? I thought they were smarter than everyone else.

I guess the "dumb jocks" on the other teams were smarter then Cornell's "dumb jocks". ;D ;D ;D

Leech's system is frowned upon - it is looked as a "system" that, no matter what, the QB can throw for 4k yards and 35 TDs - if you look in the past, it's true.  Cost Brannen (Hawaii) wasn't invited last year, and he had the best statistical season of the year.  If you take Harrell off the team, you could insert their backup, and they are probably still 9-3 at worst.  McCoy was Texas this year - led them in passing (of course) and rushing.  Harrell did beat Texas, but McCoy didnt lose the game - Crabtree won it.  If you take McCoy off his team, they suck.  He probably should have gone, but its tough when 2 players from teh same team are that high profile, they take votes away from eachother.  Personally, it doesnt matter who goes, because it's Tebow who is going to get it IMHO.

I hate the "system" excuse that the pundits put out there. Every school has a "system." Tebow is a "system" qb as well.
That is the media's excuse to vote for who they see as the best story to win the Heisman.
