I liked Dan just as much as anyone, and he was good for ISU, but his time was up and anyone remotely interested in the program knew what had to be done.

Substitute Vince for Dan and UD for ISU...and maybe that's the answer why UD's in the market for a new coach.

My final D3 Top 10

1. MUC  (I think MUC takes the Stagg Bowl and I'll be surprised if its closer than 14 points...though my hopes are with the Warhawks)
2. UW-W
3. Wheaton
4. Wartburg  (Gave UW-W a better game @ UW-W than UMHB gave UW-W @ home)
5. UMHB
6. Willamette
7. Cortland State
8. Franklin
9. Monmouth
10. Wash and Jeff

Anybody check out the IIAC YouTube site?

There is an excellent piece on Cornell's Jahmaal Onoh...a senior DE who served in Iraq.  He talks about his service and his OCS training this past summer.  He also plans to go back into the Marines following graduation.

I am proud my kid got to play football alongside a young man like this.

University of Dubuque Caps Capital Campaign

Today, President Jeffrey F. Bullock will formally announce the end of the University's Capital Campaign - Forever Better: Ensuring the Mission . The largest capital campaign in its 156 year history, the University's $125 million dollar campaign goal was exceeded by $3 million dollars, bringing the total funds raised to more than $128 million. The President's announcement will take place during the annual President's Christmas Gala, this year held in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center on the University of Dubuque campus.

"The Campaign has provided many resources for the transformation of the University," said John Puotinen, senior vice president for advancement. "In response to the adoption of the Mission , Vision a nd Action Plan : 1998 - 2008 in 1998, academic programs have been strengthened, new programs have been introduced, and the number of full-time faculty has almost doubled. In that same period undergraduate enrollment has doubled as well."

Capital projects completed during the campaign include: the Charles C. Myers Library; the development of the South Campus - Conlon Colonnade, Seminary Village, University Park Village, Oyen Soccer Field, University Park Drive; the renovation of Goldthorp Hall and expansion of Mary Chlapaty Hall now comprising the University Science Center; the construction of the Myers Teaching & Administrative Center; the construction of the Chlapaty Recreation & Wellness Center, a new football stadium and artificial turf field; and the renovation of Stoltz Sports Center - including Jon Davison Court, the McCormick Gymnasium as well as both baseball and softball facilities.

A priority of the Campaign has been in growing the University's endowment, which is the primary source of financial aid and scholarship assistance for students. The University's endowment has grown from $16 million in 1998 to over $70 million in 2008, providing a strong base for further growth. While modest in comparison to other leading institutions in Iowa, the University's near-term endowment goal of $150 million is essential to its long-term financial health and vitality.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to trustees, alumni/ae, and friends of the University who have shown such strong support for the University during the Forever Better Campaign," stated University President Jeffrey F. Bullock. "Since the adoption of the University's Mission in 1998, the formulation of the Mission , Vision, Action Plan - 1998-2008 , and the implementation of the Plan for Transformation in 1999, the entire University community has exerted tremendous effort to move the University forward and accomplish the goals which we set for ourselves ten years ago. We know that we have much to do as we continue the process of becoming the place to which our Mission invites. The Mission , Vision, Action Plan: 2009-2015 to be released in May 2009 will be our guide. Without a doubt, our work together has been richly blessed."

While the Forever Better Campaign draws to a close at the end of 2008, the University's Strategic Plan informs goals set in a new Mission , Vision, and Action Plan: 2009 - 2015 . The need for endowment growth, additional student housing, updated facilities for the seminary, and the development of a fine and performing arts center remain as projects that have won the interest of the University and its constituents.

Is there a new defense called a zone conference?   ;D ;D ;D  I wondered why BV was not successful.  All the IIAC teams stymied the Beavers holding conferences.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Is that anything like a "cougar" conference? ;)

UNI and Northwest Missouri State have got to be at the top of the "hard luck" playoff teams.

I don't know about that.  Northwest dug their own grave by turning the ball over a few times and not being able to cash in when they got deep into UMD territory a couple times.

UNI doesn't get to claim luck at all in their game.  The last 2:00 of that game was a perfect example of playing to not lose, rather than playing to win.  Between that and their awful clock management, UNI pissed that thing away and they have nobody to blame but the guy in the mirror.  The play call on that final play was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen happen on a football field.
I was referring to NWMS being 0-4 in championship title games and UNI being 1-5 (or is it1-6) in playoff games.

I believe the stat you are referring too is 1-6 Now in Semi-final games.  They've made playoffs 14 times, gotten to semi's 7 of those and only once to nat'l championship game-
I'm a big Farley fan but Losing a game when you are  leading by 13 going into the 4th @ home is un-excuseable.

NW MO has had a hell of a run.  6 title games in 11 years and 4 in a row now.
It's really too bad they've never won one.
I can't imagine being one of the senriors who had an un-real opportunity to play in 4 straight title games and lose them all by 7 or  less

Props to Freddy on making highlights with his TD yesterday

davedevine

I stand corrected, NW MO did win it all in '98 &'99

their Buffalo Bills like four  consecutive losses were by a combined 19 points

Hey, how's this for severe weather and storm damage...

We got rain today.  Not only that but we got wind too.

Too bad, cuz apparently my fence which previously withstood rain and before that survived the dreaded Santa Ana winds...just gave up in the face of rain AND wind.   :'(

Crap.  There goes the budget.   >:(

On the bright side, I'll save on labor.  Jr. comes home Saturday.   :)
